Id really prefer to see matchmaking changes and new maps over changes to the ranking system. As well as, resolving some of the bugs plaguing the game since the Tech Test.

Of course coding can reflect some kind of “sentient” quality. That’s what AI is all about and a coding algorithm could easily be created to reflect a players performance to this affect. Admittedly it would need to embrace more factors than K/D but it’s certainly not a difficult undertaking. TC coders should know enough about their own game to distinguish between good and bad play within a specific ranked battle. Revives, spots, assists and other game mechanics could be taken into account. Don’t bother replying…I won’t be reading another of your essays.

I am not a fan of rounds starting with quitters not counting for a couple of reasons .

I only have time to play a few games 2 or 3 times a week. With quitters being in at least 50% of my games , that’s a lot of wasted time if those rounds don’t count.

What about when we pull it out of the bag and win? I get nothing for that? Why would I even bother trying after someone quits? May as well just allow people to leave with no penalty at that point.

. If your down a man halfway through a round you are pretty likely to take a loss, having those points count (if the round where someone quits is still counted and given points as a 5v5) when they are probably gonna be negative, with no way of redeeming them by winning, sounds effin awful.
Except it won’t be wasted time- It says that round won’t count, not the match.
The match will still be worth points. Everyone is over-reacting to simplistic wording. Reading too much into it.

Well I’ve only seen it post points for rounds, no bonus for winning the actual match. Just points for winning the individual rounds.
Has tc said how wining overall is factored into the system? Or where it is reflected on the scoreboard?
Again as i’ve never see any score added except those for the round, It’ll only be worth whatever I score in the 1st round. I doubt that retroactivly adjusts round rank points just because we won in the end and have not seen evidence of this (I could be wrong, it’s not like tc are clear on how ranking works).

Tied to the above reply, if we are down a player we are most likely getting a negative rank score for that round. If the other rounds don’t count, then all i get for sticking around is the negative score for the 1st round, even if we perform a miracle and win, all i get is a negative score .
What’s my incentive to stay when i’ll get punished either way.
Like I’ve said tc are as clear as mud on the ranking system , so maybe it’ll work great. I just have massive reservations about that being the case.
I don’t really see this as a good move. It should be based on individual performance rather than the teams performance. No mention of them addressing where people play well but lose and get minus points, sigh.
Gears 4 rank system was much better despite all of the complaints.
I guess I’m working on the assumption that the glaringly obvious issues with these changes are not going to be completely ignored by the guys at the office.
I could be wrong, but there are several ways to implement this correctly.

The in game points and the experience points never seem to line up.
For instance, a good game of Guardian= 2500 pts, but my exp. = -176 pts.
I understand the whole points per second thing, it just seems counter intuitive.

Points dont currently matter. Only K/D but they are eventually planning to change that.

This game is just sloppy all the way around. How was the Guardian ranking in Gears 4?
Points based, you earned points and climbed up the ranks.
I remember ppl complaining about not making into certain ranks
(mainly diamond) because there were only a certain amount of slots available,
Not the best ranking system, but in the end I think more stable.
You performed well you went up, you performed poorly you went down.
Yeah I played KOTH, TDM, and 2v2 in Gears 4, which are basically what I play in Gears 5. 2v2 havent been playing much though. Hasnt been enjoyable for multiple reasons.
Guardian has been my main mode, KOTH then TDM,
Didn’t get into 2v2. not enough of a seek and destroy mode.
Map seemed too small.
Well they havent added that function yet. Coming in 2021. TC told us to be thankful Gears 5 has a versus mode.
