I will not buy Gears of War 5 unless these Horde issues are addressed

Don’t you know playing the game is not enough anymore.

Exactly why quitting in horde is bad. It’s because people who quit negatively affect another gamers experience as well.

Good for you that you can go 1-50 on casual. It won’t happen on insane. :man_shrugging: But it’s easily accomplished with a good squad and all the players have a good experience.

Tempting… I don’t have the time to not work on the achievements though. I still have to go through a few OG maps with my buddy Years of Chore, the second controller.

horde lite is for people who don’t have the time (but if they come in to 50 waves and intentionally quit because they don’t have the time and quit they should be pentalized also bots should feel the slot when they leave that are able to help along like the socal playlist bots do

Biggest problem with Gears 4 Horde is the ai is severely downgraded from 3. Gears 3 had ai that would change spawns and the enemy types depending on how you played none of which Gears 4 does. Gears 4 has better fortifications but is downgraded every other way imo. It seems like they are so focused on the pro scene they are literally willing to throw away og casual gears players for a few more people in the pro scene hence why horde is no longer one of the main priorities anymore still a ton of bugs in it that have never been addressed for months sry for being so pessimistic but I’m being blunt.

The current issue I have with horde is the fact that most people abuse the exploit where you trade with a heavy for his boomshot just for the “extra power.” It’s very annoying when a heavy walks up you expecting a trade when you’re playing as a sniper or vice versa. Seriously, there is absolutely no rule in the game that says you need to trade with the heavy for the boomshot. It’s a stupid and unnecessary tactic anyway. Some of these players that peer pressure others to do the exploit actually leave the game if the others don’t know how to do it or simply because they choose not to do it (me). They’re just as toxic as those who don’t have their cards or classes maxed out, but still play on insane or inconceivable regardless.

Kp58 is the only one making any sense here.

I’ve got to add my thoughts on how I think Gears has evolved as far as horde is concerened. Personally in terms of length of game as far as Gears 2 went I remember teaming up with a bunch of guys to attempt Horde on insane on Jacinto. This was a wave 44 fail and took 13 hours and was my first ever attempt at insane and yes was far too long. Gears 2 on normal in terms of length of game was not long even in public games though it would not last much past wave 30 as most people would die every wave trying to go commando etc but as far as normal public matches went 3-4 hours was a reasonable time. Certain maps on insane could be done in 4 hours ish and I think there are some guys speed running them still.

Gears 3 I think they mastered it in terms of length of time regardless of difficulty provided you had the ability and I think is the best horde mode we’ve had.

Gears 4 is absolute rubbish too much emphasis of sentrys barriers classes etc and not enough fighting. What was wrong with 5 guys or girls fighting it out with only a boomshield of wall or ledge for cover. It’s simple to beat 4 and no skill level required other than levelling up your class. A lot of the hardcore players who played horde and 2 and 3 won’t even touch 4. It really is that bad I suppose the Coalition we’re more interested in selling loot boxes hence we got the rubbish with the classes that we did. Gears 5 will no doubt be similar but at least the multiplayer is decent so it’s not all doom and gloom. As for Escape mode that doesn’t look much good but time will tell. They should have brought back beast.

Make it so literally only engineer and scout can pick up power in a full party, and lock classes to one of each class. To compensate other classes can get a few rounds of ammo depending on the number of points they got for a kill and the weapon they used. No +5 Boomshot rounds if a heavy kills a drone, but maybe killing a scion gives them 2 or 3. (They’d have to run over and pick it up still)

Thank you, sir. I love getting into matches where the engineer doesn’t spam a wall of sentries. Makes it much more exciting and challenging on the higher difficulty levels.

Unfortunately I don’t play horde anymore but there’s still good engineers out there

Actually, this could work well. Dont remove the health buff or the damage cards. Just move the health buff to wave 30. This allows good use of damage cards to “express” the veterans to the harder waves, but then the last 20 are the real challenge.

This fixes the time problem AND the damage problem.

I’d prefer the other way round like now.

2.0x health at Wave 11 means your team Damage is tested.

2.0x Damage and Damage taken tests team survival for later waves.

If 2.0x health was moved to wave 31, then something else has to be on Wave 11.

As a Scout, they would take more damage and more risk of dying early.

I prefer doing a DPS check early, before survival and endurance. Not the other way round.

For Speed Runs, 2.0x health at Wave 31 would be better though.

I just completed a horde game and it gave me zero level and ZERO XP :rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage: wtf! It feels like I am playing a beta test game! I’m really pissed

Looks like you got your wish. But what you want isn’t always what is needed.
