I want more enemies instead of sponge health(Horde)

There has to be a happy middle ground, 100s of easily dropped enemies is a hair more frantic for standard rifle shooters, but a ton easier for explosive users.
I would say a health buff of no more than 25% over normal, that’s 25% on top of the buffs they get at whatever waves… 30 and 40 I think? So instead of 2x health for those last 10 waves, it’s really 250% (2.5x) starting health.

It is an interesting situation, init. The Coalition decided to make the weapons with smaller magazines, making you more reliant upon Weapons Lockers or racing to get he Ammo Boxes. So, more enemies, vs sponges still works out the same, in a sense.
However, got to admit, i would prefer more enemies than sponges. Maybe Boss Waves should be random encounters, either a couple of lower level Bosses or the Boss Bosses, something like that.

This is wat makes horde on higher difficulties more boring for me.

Random boss waves would awesome! I think all waves should be random!

The campaign was missing this as well I always loved the way Marcus fought off a horde of locust in the old trailers. They need to add more enemies and old bosses like raam and skorge. Add old enemies butcher, grinder, beast rider. Each new horde should have new and old enemies that way it doesn’t get stale…they should get rid of escape and add linear maps to horde as well

I don’t know why and I’m sure it’s just my perception but I feel like there is less enemy variety in Gears 5. That’s probably not true but it feels like it, possibly because DeeBees don’t feel like enemies to me.

Also…I wouldn’t mind if leeches were suddenly gone forever like the kryll.

This is so right on, and one of the big reasons I don’t play horde anymore. It’s not fun to empty clip after clip after clip into an enemy. MAYYYYBE it’s ok for a boss fight but FFS when it’s one grenadier it’s just frustrating. There’s no skill to it, it’s just something that makes the whole endeavor take longer. It takes so much fun out of it.

Gears 5 its the most boring when it comes to enemy variety and Gears 3 its perhaps with the most enemy variety between all of them.

Another big problem that I think forced TC to make enemies spongy, is that the characters are sooooo unbalanced. They might aswell rename Horde to “The JD and Kait show featuring some friends”

best alternative name for HORDE ever. !!!

Nice, Could also go with “The Hordie Bunch”

I stopped playing Horde in 5 mostly because of boredom. It feels like a “job” to play now instead of fun and trying to survive like previous Horde, especially Gears 2 and 3.

And the enemies, especially the DeeZzzzs, are soooo boring to fight. Add to that the forced lack of ammo, reliance of WLs, the lack of GOOD, Quality maps, and a half baked Hero system, and I just don’t enjoy it that much.

NEVER thought I would say that about Horde Mode. But I have started playing other games with PVE modes that I’ve overlooked over the years and they are, dare I say, more fun than 5’s Horde, if not just for a few games.

A Hero system could work in Gears, but the one in 5, just feels tacked on to be different, right now. A d if you’re strickly a PVE player, now there is no reason to unlock your favorite character if they are tied to a role you don’t/won’t play.

Add to that the glitches/bugs and focus on things like skins and blood sprays, and marks (seriously, wtf?) while we’re still waiting for other fixes and content.

It’s also sad the this new Hero system slows the pace of TCs ability to release new/fan favorite characters.

when I read comments like yours @PartyUpLive that when I really sense to realize that it should be more positive to shut down 5, and go straight to give us Gears of War 6, I mean its a failure no argue about that .

there were good points on Gears 5 , mainly the campaing however everything else, its just plain “average” , its a game where " average effort" still prevails.

its a shame, the playerbase and community doesnt give " average efforts" on supporting the game, they really invest on it, the least TC should do its to give a game par to the expectations.

I like it

Horde, for me it is to play as a team, each one has its own function or its role to develop in the game, the essentials Jd, Kait, Del or Baird and Jack the fifth can be a backpack, but to summarize the horde in two characters, I think that you are wrong, even if you have Jd and Kait alone in a horde Master, without an engineer and without a good Jack, things are almost impossible, now if you play in low difficulties where there are no rules, where they do not deposit, they do not play as a team, they don’t do their part … well, I don’t want to talk much about it, because in my opinion, what TC has to solve is two things,

  1. not allow the use of duplicate characters (horde and Escape);
  2. duplicate ability cards (duplicate cards that cannot be burned, in some cases I have more than 70 duplicated gold and there they are left without being able to do anything with them, they could be transformed into scrap metal, but so far nothing)

I see your point and agree that it’s a team game. However there are far to many characters that become useless on the higher waves on the higher difficulties and rely on the characters you mention do all the work. We should not have to pick the characters you mention.

You can beat master with other characters but it just takes too long because the enemies are soo spongy.

Just played a game on gears of war 4 horde and had a blast fighting the endless enemies flooding at our base. It wasn’t the best base, my side went without barriers often. We were also down a sniper. Just a soldier on the left and heavy on right. Anyway, we got over ran and it was fun fending them off. Even though we lost I had a good time. Wasn’t bored once.

Haven’t really felt that in gears 5 much

I’ve been playing Gears 2 and 3 Horde and IMO, while 2 is still fun for the old school feel, 3 is soooo much more fun than 5’s Horde. The maps, enemy variety(I know it’s the third game in the series), pretty much the whole thing is just way more fun.

Even 4 I had a lot more fun than 5. My only issue with 4, off the top of my head, was when there was 10+ turrets doing all the killing.

I’d like to play gears 3 horde some more. Didn’t really get into it much before gears 4.

As for the spamming of sentries, you’re playing with the wrong team. Gears 4 engineering is all about lockers and barriers and decoys for the win.

I will shamelessly admit that I was a sentry nut in Gears of War 4. My goal was to crossfire the enemy spawn with sentries so I could relax in the later waves

Fully aware this is a super unpopular method of play, and I expect some flak from it, so let me go grab my fireproof suit :fire:
