I really wish Torque and Dropshot headshots were kills, like they used to be

I really enjoy playing Clayton, but on higher levels, outside of the explosive stun (which is great as a support feature for other players), he is kinda useless unless on a trishot… On lower levels I love killing drones with torque headshots, but once you go up in levels, it takes 2-3 HEADSHOT hits to kill anything more than an Imago… That really sucks… I really don’t understand why toque headshots are no longer insta kills on non-bosses…

I have the same feeling about Dropshot… Being able to kill guardians with a drop headshot was the ultimate in skill, I thought, in GoW4… Here, they made the guardians more annoying, and removed the ability for us to kill them with dropshots…

Reverting back to torque and drop one shot kills would resolve the HUGE problem of most of the characters (beyond the main 3-4) not being useful, offensively, unless on a trishot…

And it’s not like they don’t give us trishots… So I really, really just don’t get it… Isn’t it a better, more fun, more “skillful” game when people are killing scions with torque and drop headshots, than when laying into them with trishots resting on cover???

Agree, but tc dont allow “FUN” unless fun as in grind type of fun.

I agree with you and I just replied in a Clayton thread about some other things.
Clayton thread

Sure would be nice to have that back but apparently it wasn’t “balanced” enough to actually give us proper weapons to kill the absurd insta down bullet sponges with regardless of whether we had a damage boost or not so TC nerfed both weapons to the ground because of “skill” that means little when all it does is make players waste more ammo on a single enemy.

It probably would be more interesting if both players and the Horde dealt massive damage to each other, like Inconceivable campaign in Gears 4.

You just summed up Gears 4 Horde.

I thought Horde Incon in Gears 4 just kept buffing enemy health.

It did, but the health didn’t matter so much if you had a good Sniper or Heavy. Especially if either was any good at Dropshot killing, since that weapon pretty much just one shot killed everything but bosses on a headshot(most of the time, a boss would survive a few Dropshots but still go down quickly enough). Even if it had no damage boosts, it could kill almost everything with a headshot or direct hit.

You could one shot a snatcher as a heavy, after it had been marked by a sniper. As long as you both had the right cards on. Swarmaks were also done in a couple of direct hit drop shots.

Sentinels and guardians were a one shot kill with the dropshot too. I loved running around with the dropshot as a scout collecting power and one shotting them along with scions.

This didn’t really make horde easy, it just made it fairer and more fun.

Guess why I found Gears 4 Horde way more fun than 5s “balanced actually-not-so-balanced” version which just kept the bullet sponges and took away the damage except from a few specific characters. One shot killing a Carrier on Insane on wave 15 of a Horde Frenzy match as Heavy all the way across the map(on a smaller one) was pretty fun to be doing. Although sometimes it felt a bit like bosses were too much of a breeze rather than being you know, an actual boss fight, I didn’t care so much for this for the other enemies. And in case of a Kestrel or Swarmak you often had to get rid of them quickly in the first place. Or you’d end up with a wrecked base or failure.

Torque bow and dropshot were my go to combination for kills in 4 and that combo made distant enemies and bosses alot more fun. Now that combo is useless. I remember the first torque bow I came across in this game and hit a few enemies right between the eyes but no headshot and honestly it made me sad lol Everytime I pick up a Torque bow I am just left standing there going to myself this is just wrong.

This, exactly, here…

You could setup your cards for energy collection and survivability as a scout, and STILL be able to kill quickly, if you run into trouble…

Engineer with a Torque was able to support his team, if they got into trouble…

Here? I hate it…

I jumped into a game, not too long ago, on wave 31 I think it was, as Lizzy… There weren’t any trishots in any lockers, and no claws… I had NOTHING to use, which would do anyone any good… NOTHING… LIke, WTF am I supposed to do? Live in the silverback all the time? Fine, ‘fix’ sisters to the end’, so I can keep doing that…

Barf… That is one aspect of this horde which is just pathetic, and really makes me hate playing on higher difficulties…

It’s not “difficult” or “hard”… It’s just annoying and not fun…

This is no different than the Sentry spam in GoW4. Yes, you could play like that (just like here, you CAN play with everyone on a trishot)… But before, we had OPTIONS… You COULD play Horde without sentries, without turrets, just using handweapons…

Here, you can’t… Not if you are lizzy… or clayton… or cog… Or grace… or sarah… or del… or baird… Or emile (who MIGHT get a mace on wave 45)… or (fill in the blank)… Trishot heros…

It’s just not FUN…

The most powerful character with the most powerful weapon (JD with a GL) takes no skill to use… I know, I play him… The biggest problem is, don’t spam RB too quickly, because you might end up jamming the gun…
And most of the rest of us stay back and trishot… Yeah, that’s great, TC, thanks a lot for that…

It takes EIGHT gotdamn Torque shots to kill a Bastion on Master. Eight! WTF! I can only hold 10 shots, so I have to use 80% of my ammo to take down one of the weakest enemies in the entire game. That makes no sense, Master or not. Shouldn’t take more than 2.

You mean 8 regular Torque Bow hits? Because there is a spot on top of the Bastion that can be hit for extra damage with it. It’s a weak point, looks like organic/Leech mass above the “eye”. Counts as Torque Bow headshot. If it took 8 shots to that area(though it is difficult to hit) then I don’t have words.

Either way I do agree the Torque Bow is underpowered. Its explosions especially are not worth caring about at all.

I think even if you hit the red crit spot consistently, I think it would still take around 5 or 6 shots. Way too many for such a weak enemy.

I’d test it if Bastions weren’t so fidgety and almost never hold still, and Torque Bows weren’t so hard to come by. And that’s putting aside other influencing factors like the other enemies trying to kill you.

Either way, doesn’t change the point that TC went wayyyy overboard with the Torque and Drop nerfs. Like, a direct Dropshot hit is basically nothing now. Doesn’t even put a dent on a Sentinel or Guardian even on mid level difficulties, let alone bosses…

Yeah. On higher difficulties, torque is low tier.

I hate the Torque Bow, i have no idea why, but it pisses me off when you think you have a good shot in there and it bounces off.
Confuse the ■■■■ out of me, i mean, it is supposed to be an Arrow of some sorts, fired from a Bow of some description.
Really does confuse me how this happens.

Sometimes you have a clear shot and it phases through the enemy and sticks into a wall. It needs looking at.

Its only use is for the stun effect, for Clayton…

I wish it became useful as a damage dealer…

You know, i really believe the root cause of all theae stupidities is the sharing of weapons and cards between Escape and Horde… They were sooooooooooo petrified of making anything easy/op in escape, so they designed eveeything to be a struggle in escape, and it just carried over to horde. And in horde, they said “ok, just give them trishots”

Can you imagine JD in eacape, with a full gl and full boomshot hahaha…

They destroyed soooo much of horde in the name of sharing eveeything with escape… (This is also why escape melee characters are so underpowered in horde).

Barf…
