Thats why user reviews are crap in general. This game is in no way worth a 1-star review no matter how you look at it.
One thing I’ve learned from reading this forum is that people are still mouthbreathers for the most part.

the game deserves more than one star maybe 2 and just for the campaign. multiplayer mode lost its essence of the old school is horrible now it’s silly

Obviously there’s gonna be the trolls that give it a 1 star because they’re epic memers but to say the 1 star review as a whole is useless is wrong. Not everything is gonna be to someone’s liking. I wouldn’t go out of my way to say this game is a 1 star personally but I can at least get why there are some that feel this way.

The problem is that for these people only two grades exist, the lowest and the highest, this invalidates the entire scale. Hence making user reviews a pointless metric. In some cases a 1-star can certainly be motivated, but it’s not serious to put Gears 5 in than category even if you dont like the game.
This behaviour of hyperbole should not be encouraged, it is polarizing and frankly, dumb.

I am a fan of gears of war and gears 5 the only thing that I liked is your campaign, the other game modes are for new players like fornite, and maybe if you deserve two stars just for your campaign.gears 5 lost its essence from the old gears school.

I agree that in some cases it’s justified but at the end of the day the user review board is just opinions: the post. Like I mentioned earlier I don’t find this game to be 1 and it certainly isn’t a perfect score either but you’d be amazed by what people think out there. I’m just saying let them think what they wanna think. This is no different then saying “stop liking what I don’t like!” and vice-versa.
I just wish people were a bit more…serious for a lack of a better word. It’s perfectly allright to dislike something, but trying to “review bomb” a game for things like the OP described is just a testament of stupidity in my eyes.

And how dare you question his loyalty to money…I mean Gears. He has a Gears tat, so we know he loves money, sorry again I mean Gears.
What went wrong.Gears 3 which he was a part off was just so bloody great.

Not sure, after seeing his 90th cocktail related tweet, I had to unfollow. 
I already reviewed it as a one star with valid criticisms but I’m sure they had people remove it. Cause god forbid your legitimate review is in a negative light over a truly bad game.

When I see a 1 star review for Gears 5 I think of a neglectful parent using a console as a babysitter for their immature teenage child.

Seeing as the bad heavily out weighs the good in this game i feel its fair and on top of the fact that the game is getting 5 star reviews by game journalists, we the gamers need to equal it out a bit by being harsh. Gotta atleast try to get points across.
