Ice Queen was a struggle today. I made a point to do it not playing Marksman as I don’t really need cards for him, and no one else played him either. Also, no one really wanted to be the sniper which was strange. Usually everyone is fighting for it. Come to find out I’m not very good on that map when I’m not playing Marksman and no one else is playing a good Marksman or doing a good job of sniping either.
I had my mind set on doing it as Infiltrator. This also made me realize I’m not entirely accustomed to the new Infiltrator yet. So it took a few tries just to get in my comfort zone. Eventually I was getting through it fairly confidently though.
Even if there isn’t a Marksman someone still needs to be sniping and doing a good job of it, even if that means wearing two hats (CQC and sniping). The first fail I think no one took on the sniping role, well, except me but only half-heartedly. A freezing sniper took out our Lahni, who had been doing a great job until that point. The other guy, who wasn’t a very good Cole, died too somehow, and then ■■■■ hit the fan. I tried to make a break for it, but couldn’t make it to the saferoom before getting shot in the back by a hunter and then we wiped. In retrospect, I probably should’ve took a breath, slowed it down, and built up stim with shotgun kills on the trailing hunters before they could shoot me in the back. Like I said, I still haven’t completely converted to the new Infiltrator yet, so I sometimes blunder when I revert to the old ways.
On another fail I think we just didn’t anticipate how fast we needed to move in the second act. Of course, things can take longer with no Marksman, so we needed to adjust and work faster.
On later, more successful runs, myself and another player would take the sniping roles more seriously and I made a point to take out the snipers early on before they could ruin the run. Followed that up with CQC shotgun, taking care to build up stim on drones, juvies, and rejects before tanking any shots.
