My belief is that it’s not a lack of drive but a lack of leadership or a roadmap. It feels like they’re winging it and having multiple Lead devs drop the project less than a year in can’t be great either. So instead they’re just going along rather than following a flight plan charted months in advance.
I agree, a big part is failed leadership.
Rod didn’t deliver on Campaign - at least for me. I know people liked it.
But when you break down & analyse, compared to past games as well as other games, the pace, story, creativity, the open world aspects, the boss fights (or lack of), the scale, new ideas & innovations - they just weren’t there.
It was technically good, acting & VO was good.
But nothing groundbreaking.
And we know what happened with Ryan & MP.
Again, an even bigger shambles.
No Beta, just a tech test that was a terrible experience.
Did the problems get fixed? No.
All present a launch.
Then, did we see MP move into a current trend / direction?
No we didn’t.
Still playing KOTH, on the most boring, repetitive, few maps since launch.
I mean,
It doesn’t take a genius or mastermind of a leader to get a team on board with a basic idea and to run with it.
This is the problem.
It’s so clear & easy to build a path to set it right, before Gears 6.
But honestly, week in, week out - we just don’t see it.
It’s gotten to the point now where this franchise is getting lost, people are leaving it, the new gen is upon us and new games/series will just eat away at the remaining playbase.
It’s a sad state.
I wish TC would consult with successful devs, studios and/or Microsoft would pitch for ideas.
Take Gears out of the Coalition if they can’t do anything meaningful.
They had a good go now, and it’s going backwards.
Sucks to say all this, many people will disagree - but I personally have a vision of very simple changes, move into a certain direction to really drive the series forward.
But we’re not going to see any real change, just the same old, same old broken mess.
I would prefer to keep the store as it is rn, its consumer friendly and im not really fond of timed exclusives just to give the game currency some value, after all no one is forcing you to buy iron.
I agree with point 2 and 3 tho, I really wanted the chrome steel palace guard but i wasnt willing to spend real money on it when I had some iron saved in game. Cheaper bundles bought with iron seems like a good idea, but again, give the player the choice to use any of the current currencies.
Is it? The best skins are still hidden in the Esport-section and most likely will never return to the store.
I like the idea of making the chrome skins available for purchase with iron.
It would also help if we get more relevant packs made like the APE pack that can be purchased with iron or USD.
I don’t ever spend my money on in game resources due to already knowing about the marketing tactics of corporations ( I took a class in college about marketing disposition when I was getting my Bachelors in chemistry) but even I know that this topic is needed for people in general about the importance of in game currency to be valued.
It would also be a perfect solution for a full set of skins to be priced with iron only and each individual skin in the pack to be Available in gear coins only. That way it would make the illusion of using iron to buy the full pack better then to buy it individually with gear coins(especially on the animated skin packs)
Of course that won’t make any sense NOW because TC ■■■■■■ up, but it…Nvm.
Of course turning iron into gear coins and turning gear coins into iron is there too, but nowadays it seems unnecessary.
I wouldn’t really call those the best since they are entirely optional and on very limited time in the store. Compared to the latest of skins yes, but the best… I feel the hypno skins deserve that… or the chalkboard skins since this specific skin set is the only skin to color the glowing swarm crystals on the breaker mace and the claw.
Except they’re not? Most of the Esportskins were only given out during livestreams.
That’s even worse as only 2% of the whole community attend those.
My god TC really is ■■■■■■■ up my tomatoes by not making these things available with their prestige currency.
You like making things up, dont you? There were barely 5k+ views on the finals a few months ago. I highly doubt that were 2% of the community.
Barely.
Months ago.
I didn’t even know it was months ago. Compared to all the people that have migrated from 4 to 5, I think I am right at the this moment on time, but I didn’t even know it was months ago.
Also how do we know you aren’t making things up in return? Hmm?
Yeah get tomatoed!
Do you really want screenshots of my inventory to prove that I actually earned every skin given out during these streams?
I wouldnt call those “the best”
Subjective. Most of them are certainly better than fotw-skins ppl seem to love so much see Neon Glows atm.
And the Glory-skins are the best ones released in a Gears game so far I M O-
Why yes, yes I do. I wish to see it all.
Indulge us to the items they decided to give away instead of selling for iron.
These weapon skins were given away in may. The purple mother board weapon skins to me are easily the best looking weapon skins in Gears 5 and I sorely regret not learning about them when I had the hope of getting all of them (I missed the first day).
The wyvern weapon skins don’t really do it for me but some people love them when my son runs them.
All were free and I don’t blame or contest anyone that wants to call the mother board skins the best.
I know that feel.

latest 4 screenshots, the GOAT skins are trash though.
The carrion weapon skins are also incredibly sweet.
I didn’t get all of those either though
Yeah, it’s a shame they never make it to the store. I’ve missed out on 3 of the Glory skins as well and I would gladly pay 20€ for the set to get these 3.
The Carrrion ones at least were given out twice during the finals as a second and final chance. Don’t really like animated skins myself but they’re way above the skins that usually make it to the store.
The District ones for example. They look terrible.
All that glitter…
And for what? Something like esports???
This is just unbelievable that their entire survivability is because of the apprehension of making video games competitive.
If anything I bet TC weren’t even the ones to make those skins with that kind of tangibility of deteriorating glorification.
Sometimes I think they should hire us.
