How To Enjoy The Gears of War Esports

Untitled-1

Open a new tab / 2nd monitor / Phone - Mute tab - Claim - Profit.

Save yourself the endless, endless talking and/or commentary and the gormless look of the players as they fold their arms looking serious and …

… the commentators saying they love Gears but never stream the game (what’s that about? no names but we know) ROFL LMAO.

update - Kudos to that guy talking about batista bombs and stone cold stunner’s and tribute to the Fink.

Seriously compare that to this …

lol

Also no, many people enjoy watching the gameplay and hearing the commentary

I am in part joking however the free skins part is rather insulting though. watch for 10 mins but really it’s 30 mins etc. and TC esports team ignores and plays dumb. We see through you guys.

@Mark36111 and I have been updating a thread each time a new one is claimable

You are doing the Lord’s work saving people’s valuable weekend time from this.

Mostly @Mark36111 took the initiative. I actually got more stuff/chores done than usual this weekend and I still got all the rewards. If you just check the tab every 15 minutes or so you can get the skins with no big time investment.

I feel zero investment in the players or to cheer for cause they all look the same. Tshirt, look serious (utterly gormless like Karl Pilkington) with arms folded, cap is optional cookie cutter. - Be good if the coverage highlighted them better. In real sports and WWE all the athletes stand out as people - there’s something to get invested and route for.

If we’re comparing Esports to Physical sports, I think the key missing ingredient is being able to see the emotions on the players’ faces. That’s half the fun of watching something like Basketball. It’s exacerbated further by the pandemic because it is completely online this time.

Absolutely. I don’t waste my time with these esports. I use mute the tab and play Gears 5 and do my day job / chores and click claim.

Also I agree with you. The Gears of War esports team are totally clueless. If they did it properly they wouldn’t need to bait people with free skins.

Also the teams come out with trash generic music. Brand the teams and give them fireworks and video packages and decent entrance music, WWE style. Generic esports team vs Generic esports team lacks zero video promo showing the grudge - history before the big match ups. - Even sports not just WWE does this to get you invested.

If you hate it that much then I suggest you take a look at this:

I believe you can receive notifications when skins are up for grabs. For my part I’m enjoying the streams and the commentators.

There are plenty of grudges and personal drama if you follow Gears eSports. You can’t do the “game sux just here for the skins LuL” routine and then complain that you don’t know anything about the players when you don’t even watch.

This has actually been by far the best tournament in Gears 5 so far. I can definitely understand people being bored by escalation, but the event has been spot on this time. Casters, players, and production are all doing much better than I expected given the circumstances.

I disaprove of you uttering the name of Our Lord Karl Pilkington in relation to eSports players.

Challenge excepted + point proven.

The opposite of this when you’re a champ …

Good god

The folded arms and edgy visuals for the player-intros remind me of 2009.

But I guess it’s working because thousands of people watch it.

I hate you so much.

There’s a gif for that (from the UK! Bonus!)

Yeah for free Gears 5 exclusive skins.

Sure that’s part of it but many stay and become interested in the game itself

Most of the chat is talking about waiting for the skins to claim.

They are censoring the chat AND FAILING, people keep typing it is boring and to release the skins. When there are no skins the viewership drops dramatically.
