How many teammates played with and what setup did you and they use if you remember? I mean christ on a trike-that map is stupid hard on beginner. Juvies, pouncers, mulcher scions, hunters with torque bows, and friggin claw drones all at one time from all directions. I mean not sure that any beginner would believe thats a “beginner” map lol.
Brawler when played well is extremely good.
It’s a fairly simple hive if you know how to approach reflective shell scions and watch for juvies coming from behind. All you really need is any CQC class for taking out the juvies, Marksman for snipes, and Tact/Demo for explosives only if you switch to your grenade before the scion activates his reflective shell. Normally, scions reflect bleeding damage back at you, but if you hold your grenade, you’ll take no damage for some reason.
Brawler, Nomad, Anchor, and Infiltrator are strong picks, Brawler being able to solo it the fastest and most consistently of the bunch once you know the setup.
Tact and Blademaster with Venom are good as well, but they’re relatively slow by comparison since they need to wait.
I play mainly with randoms and you’re right this map is difficult to master for some reasons.
The main one is if you forgot there are at least 4 places where juvies will come from behind.
And of course the tip to use against reflective scions (headshot with longshot without bleed is a good strategy but you need to wait and be well synchro with teammates taking care of other stuff)
I usually play this hive as anchor BM or Tact to stay a bit autonomous.
Another topic is speaking of Malfunction. Ambush is easier in comparison but these 2 really need coordination when playing random games.
Had no Teammates and I used infiltrator with stim build and another time as Blademaster. The key to Ambush is getting a longshot which you can get from swarm snipers if they spawn or from a supply room to the right of the bottom of the first set of stairs you reach.
Also, holding a Torque Bow, Dropshot or Boomshot will protect you from getting hit by their reflect shells.
For me, I’d say that the strongest 3-man team would be Marksman, Brawler and one out of Infiltrator or Tactician.
The key is that the Brawler is on rear-guard duty and deals with the Juvies who spawn behind you. Any class can do this but the Brawler is tankier and makes easy work of it. It’s all about being disciplined - one player needs to stick to this rear-guard role. If the Juvies are dealt with, everything else is easy. It’s a boring job, but if done, it makes life so much easier. Plus with Ultra Stopping Power as a mutator CQC classes will find life on the front line harder than normal so rear-guard is easier and suited in this instance.
The Marksman can get a Longshot in act 1 - either in the second supply room, or earlier from a Sniper (depending on RNG as the alternative are Hunters). They can clear everything else in front. If you know when to use your ultimate a Marksman can clear entire rooms using X-Ray (ideally during the last battle of each act). Also the enemies in each encounter are unaware of you until alerted so ideally the Marksman leads and takes the first shot. With Explosive Critical Hit you can take out multiple enemies at the start of each encounter which makes life easier. In act 1 by the two downstairs supply rooms there is a group of about 5-6 Drone enemies which you can consistently snipe-blow up in one go before they are alerted.
Tactician is okay as a 3rd player. There is a Boomshot in the first section of act 1. It’s location isn’t fixed so you’ll need to check the rooms as you pass through them. Just remember to not use explosives against Scions as they will reflect bleed damage at you (unless you do the frag trick). Ideally the Marksman oneshot them with a Longshot.
Infiltrator - there’s always a Grenadier at the start so will get a Gnasher early on. Just make sure to share ammo if there is a Marksman and be careful when killing enemies due to Ultra Stopping Power. Again, be wary of bleeding Scions due to the reflective mutator.
And there is also another boomshot in one of the 2 rooms in act 2 after the 1st encounter. Tact also use torque bow coming from hunters
Yes, Theres an extra Boom in act 2. I didn’t mention it cos it’s just before the very last fight and can get one long before then. Elite Hunters are RNG dependent though. They alternate with Elite Snipers so Torque Bows aren’t gauranteed.
There is a potential of a Dropshot Scion at the end of act 1 though.
Tactician is okay, but I find the Marksman is more key in terms of being the strongest classes to use. The sheer power to oneshot anything including Scions is a biggie and bypasses the reflective mutator.
Actually, the supply room downstairs in act 1 opposite of where the Longshot spawns has Torque Bows, always. Not sure on the exact number in it, though.
Sure. Just I am more confortable with 2nd or back position in this hive. Marksman is a very strong leader in many hives and especially this one. It is just too much pressure for me lol
Marksman is an incredibly strong pick on the vast majority of hives. It almost goes without saying.
Although the same could be said of Brawler if we’re talking about simply completing hives with no concern given to score.
