Yes, or if you otherwise die while holding the meat shield, the victim should be revived. There should be some risk/reward.
Iâm a designer by trade. That was my first complaint when I played the gears4 beta. I thought it was a placeholder up until the final version was released.
Meatshield was never op in 4 with the weak â â â snub pistol. The meatshield is gimmicky but it also used to be useful still and is a cool mechanic imo. What is confusing for me is that in 4 the meatshield protects you from nades so why not in 5? If theyâre gunna make it completely useless to where you can get shot and meleed thru it, they might as well just take it out
So, you want it to work like when a sire grabs someone?
The victim is already a dead body when they become the meat shield with the exception of the leader in Capture the Leader which hasnât been in a Gears game since 3 and needs to be. More fun than Guardian ever was.
In that mode a meatshield was necessary to buy some time as you fight off 2-4 attackers when youâre the leader, your entire team just got blasted, and you are waiting for them to respawn. It also worked just fine; It sponged up bullets until it didnât and then you went down. You didnât explode into chunks when the corpse you were holding outlived its usefulness.
They should give you the option to break free when the sire grabs you instead of just watching yourself get carried away to your death .
But youâre down and not dead yet when they grab you as a meat shield. If someone fires some rounds at you from the front then by all means you die, but if someone shoots at the perpetrator from the back you get to be revived.
I want to say youâre exaggerating per usual but after they openly admitted to making the melee the way it is on purpose I donât think this comment is too far off
I think if someone meatshields us, be it another player or a sire, let us be able to switch to our grenade (if we have any) and detonate it, Frag we both die, flash/stun we get free but are both stunned.
Ok. Well, pick up a meat shield and let him go. See if he runs away afterward. In terms of gameplay thatâs always been a kill.
Yeah, Iâve noticed itâs very weak now too. When I learned last week people could just melee threw it that blew my mind⌠like whyâŚ
As far as people saying meatshields were broken, Idk about that. The way I see it is you can think of it as a reward for winning a fight and potentially leveling a 2v1 situation (or more I guess but against 3 itâs not that great) to your advantage. If you think of it has a slightly weaker version of cover where the opponent is limited to the snub itâs really not that bad. Most nades do go through shield, even frags will if you place them behind them.
Now the active frames on the melee attack might be a little much but t he melee itself is pretty weak with the snub. Meatshielding was mostly fine, IMO.
I know he dies, Iâve been playing GOW since the beginning. Iâm talking about possible changes. If you let the meat shield go he should be able to be in the revive me state once again if he hasnât taken any damage.
Thatâs an idea.
Gears5 changed enough core functions, but Iâm sure TC can release a âmeatshield fixâ DLC to let you fight back and revive yourself for only 15,000 - 25,000 Iron.
Oh, I have no doubt theyâll do that.
The font is fine. The font SIZE on the other hand is horrendous.
I think I also noticed that taking a meat shield doesnât count as an execution (for medal purposes), which is terrible if youâre working on getting rank stars, or trying to unlock RAAMâs totem.
To me, meatshield is neither realistic or necessary. Even were one to use it, the use of it should play out like it does in Kane & Lynch 2 in a game like this. In K&L 2, the enemy will just fairly quickly shoot your captive shield dead, then shoot you. I think the same mentality would apply to Locust as well.
If anything, the same would apply even more so to higher difficulty modes, best to take reliable, solid cover. The concept of meatshields in a game like GoW is no more than a contrived gimmick really.
