Horde is not fun anymore

Would be 10 times better if we had more characters at the start so chance of duplicates would decrease. Now its a mess. Also ammo is way 2 scarce.

I disagree, I am having so much fun. Having duplicate character seems like a horrible idea & only cater to whom are interested in easily farming points instead of the teamwork experience that current horde mode offers.

Right so being forced into character you dont like is so much better,

You can always use custom browser to find the room with role that you want, which is what I am doing instead of using default auto matchmaking.

I can only use first 3 mutators when I use custom match. Not to mention its same as lobby hopping.

Gears 5 horde does feel like a step down in a lot of ways from 4 but it’s also a step up in some ways. And the most important way for me is enemy variety and boss variety and 4 doesn’t have that unfortunately. I think the skill system was better in 4 and if we had that even still with the 1 character per game it would be the 2nd best horde mode we’ve seen.

Me personally, I end up quitting after 20 to 30 waves because it just takes so ■■■■■■■ long to play. That and teammates are just bad and dont revive or pick of cog tags or work together in literally any way whatsoever

I hate having to play Del all the time because everyone else does not even care

I do wish they’d implement the ability to do 20 or 30 waves instead. And is it just me, or does the screen between each wave stay up way too effing long?

It’s not baggage, especially since Gears of War 2 and 3 where superior to Gears 5 horde in many ways. When you have such a high standard for a popular mode and the company takes a moon size leap backwards by implimenting a version of Overrun and calling it horde that nearly everyone hated… you done !@#$%^ up.

Also:

Thank you theshieguy, for everyone that has complained about 4, it has mainly been about the abuse of turrets. I think I ran into this problem maybe twice and I played a lot of standard horde and horde lite.

If they wanted to fix this, and bring less hate…
1: Populate the character roster with more than 6 !@#$%^ characters (Terminator and Halo characters don’t freaking count)
2: Select your character
3: Select your skill
4: Have at least 10 to 15 specials available
5: Select your special (first come first serve) (also have the ability to turn them off if need be)
Play Horde

Horde shouldn’t be about grinding for !@#$%^ credits/scraps to buy some gun or character stupid skin, and more about the fun to be had and the accomplishment of finishing 50 waves with a group of friends. Monetization is another key problem that Gears 5 and 4 have, being structured the way it is with multiple currency and ways to buy in with real money. I believe, gone are the days of reaching a certain level to obtain a new character or weapon skin which is most unfortunate. One of the biggest downfalls of Gears 4 was forcing players to grind for credits to spend on card packs to hopefully get a much needed upgrade. Now we are grinding for scraps.

Dude your version of Horde is not like 3 or 4. What do you want? Gears 2? Do you believe in co operative play or just winning the match by yourself? From your comments were you a game tester on Gear 5? Because you must be to like this drek Gears 5 Horde has become.

Nah, Im just a gamer who likes horde. Sounds like you wanted a carbon copy of Gears 4 horde which would be boring for all of the reasons I mentioned above and more.

My comment about Gears 2 would be one option in how you could play if duplicate characters were allowed. It by no means would be the only option. Options are good, stagnation is bad.

Gears 4 had issues, I agree, and I don’t want to duplicate 4. I am all for innovation and evolution. I like the power taps, the new maps, new enemy types, and new weapons. However, Gears 5 has problems,

Horde’s game play in the sense of co op and real teamwork has been severely neutered. There no reason or incentive to coordinate and play as a team. And that is what Horde was all about.

Elaborate.

Sure, In Gears 5. There is no incentive to add money to the fabricator which destroys the spirit of co-operative play. With individual character’s using power to enhance themselves players hold on to their power. It should be once you add enough power to the fabricator then you get points (not power) to upgrade the individual. It incentives adding to the fabricator and not take power away from it.

If you’re playing with early-level pugs on easier difficulties, I can see that. Most players decent enough to handle the harder difficulties are pretty hip to the fact that the dimishing returns on the upgrades kicks in after only a few upgrades, and any group with communication shouldn’t have this problem either.

Playing horde is randos has always been a crap shoot, all the way back to the original. All these problems can be remedied by putting a team together.

That’s my point. Your making my argument for me. How do rando’s become a team? By learning the strategy for the best outcome. They can’t do that if you don’t show them how or the best way to do it which is through game play and repetition. . If you want to just kill, go play versus, if you want to play in a team go to Horde. But now that’s gone too.

It’s not making your point for you. Your point is that upgrades take away incentive to deposit energy. My point is, a lot of them wouldn’t anyways. Randos did a trash job with that in 4 as well. Randos play like crap, in all the games. There’s no reason to match with pugs with a lobby browser and LFG tool.

I disagree. With giving rando’s points (not power) once they put the power in the fabricator you have a built in incentive to put money in to the fabricator. They win with individual upgrades, and team wins by having power in the fabricator. .This teaches them that you get positive gains by winning the most power and helping the team.
