Horde Horror Stories

No mate they are just “A” Holes.

Happens all the time. When I host a game I specifically state in the lobby name who I need and who I’m playing and always get someone that plays who I’m playing or who I didn’t ask for. You say idiots?.. maybe. I say people just don’t give a ■■■■ and just wanna do what they wanna do. I’m just glad the kick button works now. I have no problem kicking people if they can’t read or end up doing what ever they want or not playing their role.

Do tell about this super OP JD, I’m genuinely curious.

Really?

The guy owns with his bleed on explosives

Everyone besides kait needs a huge buff to overall damage potential to get even remotely close

If you’ve got a good JD your laughing, if not most ppl will quit on higher dif’s

Really. I haven’t played much Horde as I’d like too.

@The_Bozzmeister No. It has. I have played 15/7 since launch horde main. Reup 25, #1 run on the highscore horde leaderboard.

None of these stories are new, although it is hilariously relieving to see other have suffered in kind. Take that for what you will.

What has changed however, is that as host you may now kick people mid game. Which has solved most of these horror stories, but you will still run into crap players everywhere. Even master. Especially if you don’t host, and can’t kick at will.

@Saber_Skywalker

Everyone besides kait needs a huge buff to overall damage potential to get even remotely close

I have to EMPHATICALLY disagree with you here.

Have you tried rotating power weapons on other players? Trishots, gl’s, salvo, etc.

Marcus tends to get double (85%) dmg when under 85% health, which is phenomenal on trishot/salvo, or just in general combination with his retro/claw. I can easily 100-200k any given round on marcus provided that damage is available and the enemy isn’t killed before I get to it.

Fahz- sub par, yes, but he is still a very solid trishotter outside of his ult, and potentially a run saver in clinches with his ult, wherein you can easily dish out 100-200k damage that round. Not the best, conditional damage, but, he is not as bad as people think. The devs know this, and it’s precisely why he hasn’t been buffed ceiling-wise for damage.

sarah- salvos. 200k+ per round. done. good.

Kat- extra turrets. 100-200k per round easy

Emile - takes a lot of practice, and I mean a lot, you better know your timings perfectly, but you can 100-200k a round or more with emile. with some smart use of grenades (embar also very good for spot CC) you can get in close on big things and really dish out heavy damage. Emile is arguably better than kate for 1-10 momentum, due to his bleeds being cost-free, and infinite.

Del - no comment. Balanced.

jack - You shouldn’t dps, but if you ever need to- jack can help kill bosses in master. Find a pouncer, get good at shooting its tail spikes, profit. It’s like 10k damage per use. Pretty good, easy 100-200k contribution on a big baddie. EXTREMELY effective on swarmak and kestrel weakpoints btw.

keegan - jd lite. Hand some gls, profit. Booms/drops also viable. good.

lahni - She needs help. Big time. Typically in horde you never have a base that offers back shots to the approaching mobs, but if you ever could get such a setup - she is potentially your highest damage dealer outside the big 2. 100% damage bonus is not to be taken lightly. Thats 1800 dmg trishot headshots. Ridiculous. The few times I’ve setup a game to run her this way it was easy 200k+ rounds.

Mac- Actually somewhat ok. Not great, but not bad. 100-200k rounds are a bit harder, but not impossible. 72 bullets x 300dmg tick x 5 (bleed) = 100k~ from his boltok alone, and again- power weapons will fill in the rest.

Cog gear - 50% stronger retro lancer is not bad. It’s helpful, and he has the tankiness to get close to gnasher gib. Consider using the card healing bounty on him. It may be a card for healing, but it actually is his best damage card via the facilitation of more frequent engagement. Mark, rushdown, gib in the red, back to full, continue. Or cover lean with a tri, mark, shoot, heal, continue.

Grace- emile light. Half finished promotional character that was a split of emile and lizzies styles.
Sub par, but she can produce bleeds with a breaker mace, so shes not impossible to use. Still, this is the worst character atm for damage. Maybe in general.

Baird- shutup.

Lizzie - silverback, great stim for frequent engagement, rear defense for getting back out, etc. Shes a legit tank, and can stay in the mess longer and more frequent than anyone else. Good, easily 100-200k rounds without silverback, and 300-500k with it.

Let us keep in mind here that jd IS the main damage dealer. He is SUPPOSED to be ahead of the pack, to the tune of 100-200% damage ceiling. That is fine imo, and the roles and capacities afforded to the other characters in lieu of that damage range gap are typically sufficient to make up for it.

The issue is when people assume that gap means they cannot even produce the 100-200k dmg minimum each character is capable of. Even grace on a trishot will 100-200k on an average round if they stay on it, and have a good idea of how to aim it.

All in all, I would say the damage of each character is up to par of the challenge in front of them.

JD and kait are meant to be the way they are. The other characters are meant to be sufficient with their own strengths. Kait/jd are not necessarily the strongest, but the simplest in strength. imo of course.
For these reasons I disagree
(All of this is in reference to master difficulty of course)

(Really dislike the mobile format of these forums sometimes :joy:)

Haha, I’ve got too many for this thread. Far too many.

I’ve got some fond ones from Gears 4 as well.

One guy came in on a 41-50, to grind some character exp. We said that we don’t ask for much, as long as you do your job, you’ll be alright. And he was like OK, I don’t like teams that boss me around.

The guy was a horror show. He wanted communication, and then when we called out an enemy, it was always ITS ALRIGHT I SEE HIM or I CAN’T HIT HIM HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO HIT HIM.

When we got to the end of wave 50, me and someone else went into a hypothetical situation, in the case we had some salvos, and how useful Keegan would be with them. He didn’t quite understand it was a hypothetical situation however.

We now quote what the guy said in the last argument as a joke. “But (insert name here), we didn’t have X weapon.”

There were a few other things with the dude as well, but he wasn’t enjoyable to play with, and didn’t do his job all that well.

Had a Sarah on Elite who clearly wanted to be a scout, they were constantly leaving the base to collect power. They would go down every single wave… A snatcher literally picked them as soon as it spawned.

When told to stay behind the barriers they said that the power decays and if you don’t pick it up quickly it disappears…

They had a lv18 Sarah…

Well that’s is half true but man that’s crazy.

Like come on :sunglasses:

Well this story was awesome. I gotta say I really enjoyed it haha.

Don’t think I can top it. So thanks for sharing :+1:

Dude. Nice break down. Can I grab some of this for the new guide?

Also I’ll be adding everyone’s name who helped

2 engineers is actually pretty good provided they coordinate. Del should be buying first cause of his higher discount. After his cost goes up the other buys. Baird has some nice perks that buff all forts, not just his. But yeah, this aint happening with randoms

I agree bro. The two together work nicely.

I only have one horror story about horde that sums up in two words; Hero System.

As always some great input on horde techniques and some funny horror stories to read, can’t add to any horror story any more as now only play customs with “trusted” friends, who all found each other playing public games weeks ago and realizing we know what each other where doing, so just started playing more together

As such I would add a couple of points to the guys building guides … (1) use voice comms as it makes games play easier and tbh more fun (2) as you start playing horde and find another good/fun player then friend them,

Expand your friend base as time goes by and within a few weeks you will have a list of online folk who can jump into a full custom, agree roles, even allow some one to bring a lvl 1 totem or bought character into a high difficulty horde to start its level up while being carried by the other 4, knowing the othrs will do that for them if needed

Horde is a team game and really becomes fum with friends

Whenever you do Lizzies guide, make sure to try her icy precision out with the Claw, works much better with that instead of the Enforcer imo

I didn’t know the kick function worked again, thanks for the info.

Great guides, much better than this other random guy who posts horde guides round here :yum:

Tho you won’t change my mind, every other game I play the Gl just doesn’t stop raining to the point most of the above gets invalidated. Sure the rest of the team ‘could’ have dished out some dmg, more than half seem to NEED to grab a tri or salvo to do much dmg atall which I’m not a huge fan off but I spose it’s better than the turret spam.

On paper, I agree with you

My reality is JD often takes care of EVERYTHING

ON HIS OWN

hense SUPER OP imo
