Hi TC this is the Horde Community speaking

  • Remove the character restriction. Make Ultimates based on classes, not specific characters. Make 5 or 6 classes.
  • If you cannot make this change, then leave it as is for those who like it and offer an alternate Horde mode called Classic Horde. No classes, no hero abilites, just classic Horde with power picks ups and fortifications.
  • Make a shorter variant of Horde, 20 or 25 waves and make it a permanent mode.
  • Add more Ammo boxes or increase the ammo received from each box.
  • Allow any weapon to be purchased by anyone
  • Allow basic fortifications to be built by anyone (Kait cannot build anything)
  • Reduce the time it takes to secure a Power Tap, it takes way too long to the point that they are not worth securing
  • Add in Locust characters for more variety
  • Lastly, more maps. Way more maps. This should be a priority.

Did you see my research station idea?

I think that would be a balanceable workaround to the weapon limitations.

Offers people a way to “open up” the gun selection, but you still have to work for it.

I think it would be better if they offered an arcade type horde where you can customize many things. Kind of like halo 3 had for custom games.

That way people can sort of create the classic experience the way they want, ya know?

Yeah would be a good idea.
Unfortunately I think things like that are away aways yet due to all the work being put in elsewhere.
In the future that would be great, for now I’d just like to be able to choose loadout ala gears 3

I would love a Gears 4 horde again. I absolutely loved it. Although the enemy variety could’ve been better, I still had a blast. Even when I did nothing but SR’s, I enjoyed it because you still needed to do your part.

100% This has my vote for sure. If Clevens did indeed respond back to you about this, hopefully they make it a permanent fixture here.

The bases I build in 5 are safer than the dead end setups, AND EVERYONE has to hold down their sections

Thanks man, I sat there for a long time thinking about it.

I think arcade horde is the perfect solution. Allows people to step outside of the hero system, can offer classic setting, halo 3 levels of custom controls, mindless whacky settings fun, etc.

Hopefully they run with it.

I mean how cool would it be to take on 15 swarmaks in 50% speed mode? lol, just come on… that’s too awesome.

They need to bring back the locust and lambent for horde.

Viewing it from this standpoint, I can understand it better. But really, I personally don’t think it’s just people coming home from work wanting to hit a quick match before they do family stuff or other things in their life, when like, the majority of all matches run with your typical Kait/JD/Jack/engi/filler team. I see it as more of a case of people just not wanting anything other than the easiest way to do things. I don’t think it is behavior that will be encouraged but since it’s unlikely anything will change, I’m currently kind of not bothered to play a lot and if I do I would prefer to just try to get one going without a JD at the very least. Just haven’t gotten around to bothering playing Horde for a week or two now. Or maybe even three.

And at that, I do know it’s not straightforward 0815, having played JD myself, but spamming a Lancer GL is comparatively less/little effort than what a Kait has to do to get similar results, or what the other characters would have to put in for that. And his ult is basically a free nuke button at no extra charge if there is open sky available. Can it be fun? Maybe. But I found it so easy I stopped playing JD after a few matches due to not finding it interesting whatsoever after the initial impressions wore off.

Although I’d argue that if people wanted to have a fast, easy match, they could look into actual speedrun strategies, but I’m not aware of many existing in 5, or how they work.

Either way I don’t really intend to argue or debate much further about this since we’ve done so far too much previously already and all that’s ever come from it is the conclusion that there should just be alternatives available, and to host your own lobbies to avoid this stuff until then. Not expecting any balance changes at this point but who knows what is being planned by TC, until they release their PvE roadmap.

Still would’ve loved something for the Claw on Lizzie. Not that it’s not already powerful but I wouldn’t have minded some extra punch on one of the weapons that works best with her due to the Stim and Cold Finish.

Two streams ago I believe.

Some of the things they addressed are:

-Ammo. They’ve admitted that there is a ammo scarcity issue. They said they did it to make more of the other skills more useful. They mentioned having a JACK on the team to bring ammo. But didn’t mention anything beyond that.

-They mentioned Keagan and adding/tweaking his cards for Horde. Not sure about the others but I’m sure they are working on all character’s cards.

-Variety of characters and adding Locust

-Bot A.I. But it’s sounds like they’re wanting to make them smarter. They did not mention giving us any options on how they behave. Also the Horde and Escape A.I. Are built differently than the PVP A.I.

-They are working on a shorter experience for Horde.

-Bug fixes.

-Maybe adding a poll for legacy maps but they also said that it is a lot of work implementing maps.

They’ve said that they spent a lot of time designing the classes/Hero system. So I don’t think it’s going anywhere. They did not mention giving the option to use duplicate characters. I think, in private, that it should be a option.

They mentioned a Overrun type mode(which personally I had fun with) but resources aren’t really there to commit to it as far as the size of the developer team within TC.

They suggested, if you’re able to, make a video and mention some of the issues and suggestions you may have for the game overall.

I try to watch the streams when I can. I sometimes use my other name, which is PartyUpGears. They tend to answer a lot of questions and seem to genuinely be taking things into consideration.

I just wish they would have reached out to the PVE community in the beginning/earlier stages of Horde and Escape development. On their forums as well as Twitter, Reddit, etc… to get feedback from the players.

Yes, thats called the meta, you will never change that.

If we nerf jd/kait/baird(?, might be bug?) people will move on to the next meta and call for nerfs to that, it’s an endless circle of chasing a tail that will destroy the game man, that’s why I rail against that opinion.

I agree, come play with me after I hit reup 50 in a week or so, I;ll show you how horde 4.0 can be fun.

The few times I play JD I use him slightly differently than the norm. I still use tons of explosives but my locker will have only 2 gls and the rest is boomshot/dropshot/torquebow. Just to mess around. I still use GLs every wave but it’s not the only thing Im using. It’s a bit more fun that way.

Actually they did, they mentioned keegan like you said- but it was in relation to the ammo issues. They don’t want to just give people ammo, they want people to utilize what is there.

Keegan already = infinite ammo for non explosives, so there really is no need for the buffs, if you want to spam guns, use keegan on the team right?

Exactly. They stood their ground on that design decision, that’s what I was referring to.

They can however offer an alternate mode like arcade horde where people can step outside the hero system. I linked it above in my bullet list.

I watched this stream btw.

Same, but if they continue as they are, listening / taking feedback, but defending their original design plan- I think we will see the PvE side of gears 5 become an even more beautiful thing.

Try having just 1 gl, and 1 of the others. It’s viable for master, and forces you to not just spam. Very fun that way.

Not sure about the Lambent but they said they are working on the Locust.

It is pretty much how I would run him too. Still didn’t really find it that much fun tbh. Keegan is a blast in Escape though, providing you got a reliable explosive ammo supply.

Keegan is a different pace if you like explosives. Powerful but not crazy OP like JDs gls. Shame his ult doesnt refill explosives in horde cause of no venom -.-
I got Lizzie’s cold finish perk and I want to experiment with it more. However there’s the silverback crashing bug going around so that isn’t happening anytime soon -.-

Octus replied to the main thread about it, it will be fixed pretty soon man

I treat the word “soon” the same as “rework”
Open to interpretation. TC may have considered fahzs changes a “rework” I wouldn’t even call that a patch. I’ll believe it when I see it.
