Hi TC this is the Horde Community speaking

You gotta find a balance between how far you go out, and getting to a safe place before you die as the enemy or it runs out when you use the ability man, I used die from this a lot until I found a happy balance.

Great ideas though all around
You might find the explosive hijack or the gold card useful for countering this.

So I heard TC were asking/looking for feedback on modifiers in the Thursday dev stream, just now…

Execution rules. I profoundly dislike the modifier. What business does it have in PvE modes? It’s just a chore or added “tedium”. Instead of just having enemies die when they are shot while downed, you just have to put headshots with specific weapons into them. Or kill them with a ‘gib’ capable weapon. It doesn’t add any kind of real challenge to a match from my perspective because it’s so easily bypassed, and just makes it more annoying for characters using rifles other than the Retro Lancer, or gives you the fun task of chasing after Drones to kick them to death. If you can’t get them with an explosive or weapon that can headshot/kill on a body shot. Guess how fun that is when poking your head out gets punished…

I would take something else in its place very gladly. Like I don’t know, spawning more of a certain enemy type. Anything the execution rules might affect does nothing against the big damage dealer JD since he just throws another explosive at the enemy(which isn’t a fault of character design/balance, by the way, so don’t mention that). Sentries bypass it completely on downs, at least MGs do. Only one who gets any benefits from it is Kait with Blood Drain, but even without execution rules just spraying a couple of enemies with the Overkill and then cloaking up gets you pretty much the same result. Someone killing the bleeding enemies before they die to it? That happens with execution rules on too.

Almost everyone else besides Fahz just bypasses it with Tri-Shots, explosives or an EMBAR, so I really fail to see the point in the modifier cause it just encourages Tri-Shot spamming even more over most other weapons. Or you just to leave the kill for the Sentry.

Survivor. Some may disagree on this but, even while just using custom lobbies to find matches, I do not think there should be a modifier mandatorily imposing you cannot restart a match upon a failure on any difficulty, let alone having it be the first thing you get outside of Beginner if you were to use the public matchmaking system for whatever reason. It should just be an option with an additional reward, for those who think they want to challenge themselves to not fail for the bonus, just like it was in Gears 4.

Anyone else wanna chime in on this? Would like to see if other people also think the exe rules modifier is almost effectively pointless or just an annoyance that provides no real challenge thrown in. I dislike it in both Horde and Escape, particularly when there is lots of Drones you can’t just go and dig out. Or if anyone has thoughts on any of the other modifiers.

It would also be interesting to see detailed thoughts on all of the Horde difficulty modifiers. I would do it myself but currently not feeling particularly bothered to do it.

Agree on survivor .
I’d say make the others harder, yeah execution rules is meh. Put survivor as the last final one to master.
So you learn to get a good way through and finally test yourself with a 0-50 punishing run.

I think they wanted people to have to really learn the game, in order to succeed. No restarting waves to cheese your way ya know?

I think it would be better off as a toggle in the options that controls a heavy portion of the exp received. Put a better mod in its place.

Shush. Don’t give them ideas to make their XP grind even worse. The current XP should be the baseline while disabling restarts should give a bonus worth going for(it was only 5% in Gears 4 and totally not worth it).

Yeah, I mean, there’s a lot they could do.

I would argue they need a new way to earn exp like bounties or challenges as people go.

6 months in most people are still reup 15-25

Kinda ridiculous, because let me tell you… 1-25, heck, even 1-35 is nothing. Nothing, compared to 35-50.

A ‘reliable source’ has told me that the reups from 41-50 are basically 40% of the entire grind. Whereas the first 20 are like, 1/9th. And I literally just reached Reup 16… so yeah. It’s a bit absurd. There really should be ways to increase XP gain besides ribbons and Boost(which, let’s face it, this grind is designed to sell it for).

Edit : I blame the 2,000 XP gap between reups 15-20. It pretty much turns everything after to a ridiculous level to where it requires spending almost 24/7 on, well… whatever the XP method in use to get through the reups at a reasonable pace is.

Yea, hopefully as time moves forward they will offer more ways to earn xp. The scoreboosts would be one way. Bounties/challenges… Maybe double boost or something.

■■■■ can the entire hero system and bring back the GOW 4 system where any character could be any class, no class weapon restrictions, and get rid of the “only 1 Marcus per game” ■■■■ no one likes.

Gears 5 is so bad beyond basic MP and campaign most people have just stopped playing it because it’s just not fun. GOW 4 was fun as were GOW 1-3 but because Gears 5 is so much like the garbage game Judgement it has lost most of it’s players.

I have loved Gears since the first game and Gears 5 is like Judgement to me, playing it for the campaign then move on to better games or go back to GOW 3/GOW 4,

Yea, good constructive feedback. Noice.

Correct the hero garbage system has to go away… the restrictions have to away also.

A restrictive game its a game no one likes.

I’ve got my fingers classic horde is the thing they’re working on releasing.
It’s the first thing on the list literally.
They do that then yeah gears 5 becomes a whole lot more enjoyable

Hi @Stannis_d_Manis good day man

Yes adding that feature to the game as for myself it would mean " A BEFORE AND AFTER" GEARS 5 being presented as it is right now .

A horde mode that allows you to have any weapon you like from fabricator, no classes involved, lots of ammo everywhere by increasing the ammo capacity of the guns as well as ammo crates it would be a whole lot of fun.

If TC could do this I think a lot of us would come back… without a doubt man

lmfao.

you crack me up dude.

But yeah, I agree, and you have agreed with me,

An alternate mode would be best.

I don’t see why you still want the hero system taken out so badly though, why should it be taken out if they can give you what you want on the side of it?

If there’s anyone in this forum I don’t agree its you man… what are you talking about ? … You’re on TC’s Side and I’m on the Community Side.

we can’t agree in that spectrum.

Please tell me you’re doing a performance right now lmao

You already did agree with me.

This is what I’m talking about man. You’re posturing as if were on different sides of some imaginary battle, and this is not good communication, you’re either engaging in bad faith, or… well I don’t want to be mean.

I’m not on TC’s side, I’m not, not on the community’s side.

I’m just here, sharing how I honestly see the game dude.

Yes man but I was agreeing in one idea only that you have…

it doesn’t mean I agree with your whole show that you put up here . that I don’t agree . As you can see its something different.

I’m on the community side , the customers side . Period.

Whistle

I’m talking about the part above, where we directly agree on something.

That’s exactly what I said in the first place.

So why say you can’t agree with me?

There are no “sides” dude. You’re tripping.

I want an answer to my question -

Why does it need to be taken out if they add a mode where you don’t have to be restricted by it?

Why take something from people who like it if you can have what you would like without doing that?

Classic horde is where the game should have stayed…even if they introduce it now…im doubting a playerbase return…when judgement came along they brought in overrun and survival…no horde…game flopped on that alone…regardless of the poor pvp aswell…i didn’t like 4 that much…but i could play it…ie characters, all weapons in fab…meant that there were work arounds within the game…so god only knows how they thought 5 would be successful…heroes, ultimates, perks…locked loadouts, cards for every character locked behind grinds ect…the horde itself is boring to play imo…take away a lot of this nonsense…who knows…i also find some bullets in the guns kinda helps to enjoy horde to🙄

I don’t want to see five zombie skinned versions of the same character on the team. I also don’t want three scouts and two heavies in the lobby. I remember sitting in lobbies forever trying to get people to change classes in Gears 4 to balance the team. I don’t want to limit my game time to friends only in order to balance the team. I asked several people in my gaming circle of friends before I responded. Apparently, the matchmaking lobbies were a huge complaint. I didn’t really play Gears 4 much though. I have no preference of characters I play, skins used, and I play all the classes. I’m old, so this is hilarious to me it’s actually an issue. It could be five cog gears in different color helmets for all I care. There has to be separate roles for a reason. I suggest being able to play any role. I know this is mostly a troll forum, so go ahead and pick apart what I said sentence by sentence. Just be easy on the old man.
