Hi TC this is the Horde Community speaking

Can’t argue with that… BUT that is the reason Ryan said they haven’t even really thought about horde as it’s running relatively well in comparison to PVP etc.
So … when they do eventually get round to fixing what they need to we may well get some good horde news

Ohh I’m sure they are working on Horde and we will hear some news soon. It’s just a shame that the game launched how it did, especially on PC and Steam.

Now they have to fix it and hope the players stick around for them to do so. Only time will tell how successful that will be.

And Horde, like it or hate it, I’m hearing about too many people who don’t like it, and that’s a problem, because while we are hearing from TC that they are addressing and fixing multiplayer issues, we aren’t hearing much about PVE except, that they are working on it. Not sure how long they expect players to stick around hearing that and not seeing the results they are speaking of.

Oh god I remember those days. People would spend money on turrets then I would have to message them “Please stop doing that. Mine are cheaper and have more health”
Why even have an engineer at that point? A lot of people hate the idea that only the engineer can upgrade forts in G5. I agree to an extent but the engineers job is important now. In 4 if the scout was doing their job anyone could buy a repair tool and fix things.

Should not be in verses . Horde and escape that’s ok to me

It’s great to see you all come together to collate feedback like this, thanks for all your effort.

We’ve passed this to @Nodezero and the PVE team to take a look at. We’ve already begun work on some Horde changes and improvements internally, much of it based on your feedback, that hopefully we will be ready to talk more about soon. This thread has come at a perfect time in the development process in terms of having this feedback be part of those discussions.

I’ve been playing and leveling up Keegan. And besides some really questionable and annoying gameplay decisions, I enjoy Horde more with him than my regular favorite characters because of the class/hero system. Hopefully when I get his skills more leveled up I’ll enjoy playing a lot more.

I’ll be playing and streaming Gears of War 5 Horde this evening, try to help keep Gears alive.

Just because TC is listening, i like the hero system, gives us something to work towards and I like how it gives the characters more … well… character. I think it would be fair to have a classic hord mode, separate from the current one, where all the characters have no stats and can build and buy whatever, but I look forward to how each character is going to be different and what their ultimate will be when they arrive. These forums are a small population of the playerbase, dont revamp everything just because a fee are unhappy.

Plus as developers you own the game not them stand your ground on some things,

Agreed.

By buying a game, I’m essentially paying a developer to create a product which I hope I enjoy; and to create more future products which I hope I enjoy. If it all goes wrong, then I as a consumer need to decide whether I stick around for any more future products. I’ll give feedback, but ultimately what they create will be up to them, not me.

Plus more time they spend re developing the game the less time spent on new content. If people really dont like a certain mechanic/ feature, then take note and change it in the next iteration, quit revamping the game unless it’s a real bug.

I think now that TC has responded, the best thing to do is still provide helpful feedback and see how it plays out.

There’s really no need to continue to add unhelpful and negative comments when that will not help with the overall purpose of the thread. Which is to give feedback and see Horde improve for the whole community.

There have been some lively discussions already in this thread between people who love the current hero system and people who hate it. Not everyone is in the same camp on that here.

Pretty much everyone agrees that leaving the hero system intact is fine with an alternate classic mode available, or a customizable arcade mode where you can create the horde experience you want.

True, and I agree. They did ask for feedback, though. We have given it, now it’s up to them what to do with it.

I’ll tell you why I, and several friends of mine, went from having Wings 2 through 4 in Gears 4 (mostly Horde) to not playing Gears 5 Horde.

Downgraded flexibility with characters and classes. It’s like going from having freedom to deciding house arrest sounds like more fun.

Skin and character limitations due to forced hero system. Using different skins and characters was a fun thing for just about everyone I played with. We’d do themes and other silly, fun stuff. We’d sometimes all choose Day of the Dead and go into a pub game with one random and then act weird like everyone ritualisticaly circling around the random.

A LOT of the same enemies as 4. This wouldn’t be a problem but given all the other issues, no way are we fighting the same enemies, under less fun circumstances.

The heavier monitization, which seems to be tied to the hero system.

I could go on but one of the biggest factors is it just doesn’t look fun, at all. The new maps are mostly poor. Current character roster is meh. New weapons aren’t fun or interesting.

I’m DYING to play some Horde but I’m not going to play something that’s a big step back from what I grew accustomed to.

Well fair enough mate, I can see why you don’t like the current system.

I would offer though- that even though the skins are locked, the classes very much did expand, because they simply have so many now with so many cards.

To each their own, I hope they give you guys an alt/classic mode to come back to on 5.

I’m still keeping an eye on it and keeping an open mind because my friends and I do want to play Horde. I recall them doing a major Horde update months after G4 came out. Hopefully we’ll see something similar here.

Problem:

When Host leaves or anybody in the team, somebody might join and sabotage the whole game if it was hosted on public(Reported by the community).

A solution proposed by the community:
The ability to Lock sentries and barriers places to their respective owners or Engineer could only control their new locations.

Good to hear.
Please add more diversity in Enemy types, we have such a rich history. Whilst 5 is an improvement over 4’s rosta it is still lacking. Also equip them we all weapons.

Also when thinking of Horde5.0 (I know it years off) please use the power of the new Xbox and Add in every enemy type from all previous entries and at the very least a “striped back” Legacy mode along with what ever new take, you have decided we want with the new Horde.

Couple things:

1, host can kick. If host leaves, game should end. Might be different for public custom

  1. Locking fortifications is a sub-par solution.

  2. A better solution is to have “Owned by:” and “last moved by:” tags as a toggle in the options.

That way people can see who owns, and who is moving every fortification in tactical view.

I recommend only playing custom games so a host can kick any jokers who want to cause mayhem

Yeah 100% more enemies. So sick of fighting those annoying rejects/Deebees. Horde isn’t canon so I don’t see we can’t have more Locust/Lambert variants. What’s the point putting Jormad/Kantus etc. In the game but not adding them to Horde. Why can’t RAAM be a boss fight.
