Hi TC this is the Horde Community speaking

I mostly play Escape. Horde currently fails to incentivize me to play it in its current form. The “balance” only is part of what plays into it. But everyone knows that already.

How this topic has so much posts is ridiculous. How boring.

Horde 4.0 is rubbish. The game is in the hands of people who quite clearly are not long-term fans. Horde was always great in its simplicity.

Exactly. And It’ll be more fun if TC didn’t put a lot of stuffs like classes, levels, high grinding to get skill cards or whatever. I miss the simplicity of game modes like Mercenaries Mode from Resident Evil 4, 5 or 6, just pick up your favorite character with their specific weapons and have fun.
Those who agree with TC did are wrong, why the hell don’t understand that simplicity on a game mode is more fun? doing more complex the game just away the players and this isn’t a simulator or whatever. I have friends who don’t have time to play like a crazy for grinding cards to leveling up the cards to level 5 and don’t have interest on doing it (and they were a fan of Gears), So this isn’t a chore, playing like if was a job, Is ridiculous, video guides, what? come on, game like big bullet sponges that the only way to kill them quickly is with JD and even with that isn’t a guarantee of win, shooting a drone with the rest of weapons and doing less of 5% damage and at the moment you’re shooting they kill you or kissing the floor/ground each 10 seconds (obviously I’m talking about a Master Horde, not lower difficulties)
If we talk about copying things from other games, they just copy the mercenaries mode from Resident Evil 4, 5 6, and the “escape” mode from Resident Evil 3 (the Mercenaries Mode) and adjust some things to make it suitable with Gears universe and that’s all, and if they want they can continue destroying the multiplayer, TC killed my love and interest on multiplayer.

Wouldn’t say debating how to improve it is boring.

I would agree simplicity is better, but that’s the point of the thread. Ryan asked specifically for feedback around horde and that’s the point of this.
Just saying it’s rubbish isn’t really going to benefit anyone

Thanks @eviltedi for the support on the ideas… I really hope TC could give a eye on this comments

Thanks man

So I’ve done a few 50 wave runs with Keegan. Starting to hate the new Horde a little(very little) bit less, but there are still decisions that they made that make me shake my head.

But the stronger his abilities get, the more I’m willing to tolerate playing.

They’ve had mountains of feedback and have made it blatantly obvious that no matter what we say, they are adamant that they’ll implement their own ideas.

It didn’t work, and that applies to all game modes.

So I see little point in repeating myself continuously. You can consider it unconstructive criticism.

Huge Horde fan here, but this Horde was a non-starter for me. No clue why they thought this was a good idea.

Taking too many inspirations from games like Apex and Rainbox six.
They’re great games but they were made that way originally. Gears needs to remember what it started as

Ya know… People keep saying things like this, but I highly disagree.

Maybe the hero component, and cards, but the harder enemies? The raid mechanics? Do those games even have PvE modes?

I think TC just thought the enemy should be hard af, and I guess I just agreed on that before horde 4.0.

I’m not off-base either. They say as much here-https://www.gears5.com/horde-explained/

A few quotes from this-
“Gears 5 Horde is all about embracing your playstyle,”

“playing your role in a team composition that works for you and your friends

“Gears 5 Horde is about giving you the freedom to play your way and find your own best strategy.”

"Horde comes packed with 8 different difficulty levels… Find the best combination for you and your team to succeed. "

"The Swarm are back and better than ever, with upgraded AI that will really test your ability to survive as a team. "

So if you read that right, they meant for it to be very hard, and for people to find the difficulty they are comfortable at. They offered several ways to experience the mode… and expect people to find the one they find fun.

This is where I’m coming from when I say it is balanced, because they intentionally offered a large array of experiences that differs vastly across the difficulty modes so that everyone can find a setting they particularly like.

Master has ridiculously op enemies? cool, don’t play master.

You want to skip the rpg/raid mechanic elements and just shoot things? Cool, play that way, totally possible. Take off cards and just play advanced or elite.

I know the raid mechanics and rpg grind weren’t asked for necessarily by most people, but I don’t mind that part, because you can opt out.

I digress.

@Me0wMix_CatFood

Which part was a non-starter for you? You can still just play with lvl 1 toons on like advanced, and the game is pretty hard like that in its own right. Just take off all cards man

Nah all that’s fine. Just the hero components and character release schedule is very much akin to Rainbow six in where every 3 months you get a new 2 characters with a new season of content.
I’m fine with it being something for a new game but Hero locking specifically to certain skills and loadouts isn’t something gears has ever been in 6 games.

Sure make it harder more tactical, more depth with forts and classes and ways to play that’s all great, but sadly regardless of how they feel the Hero class is limiting and constricting the very game mode they say they want to give us freedom in.
They give with one and take with the other.

I get the comments that we can just turn off the cards, not use skills, not use modifiers etc and get a basic horde experience, but fundamentally I can’t play as Marcus with a retro lancer And build fortifications , whereas in 3 I could. It’s a backwards step from 4

You can keep complexity and classes and cards etc, but don’t lock the skin I want to use.
Alas we’ll see if they read this and take it into account

One main complaint from Gears 4 was when people who were not the Engineer were buying fortifications. Even though at the time an Engineer was in the match and had discount cards on.

I understand your point entirely though. Hence why I feel like tutorials should be placed in the game a la Gears 2 Training Grounds style, and keep the Gears 4 style of system on buying fortifications.

Eat your heart out boo-boo

Anyways, on a serious note. I am not sucking up to TC.

I just think they did a good job on the game, but most people don’t like it. That’s fine, and we’re discussing solutions too, so that’s cool.

I just don’t see the point in the rampant negativity here.

Yeah maybe not the best example but you get the idea. I want to be able to play a decent game solo if I want not be limited.

Working too slow or too little?

They have been putting out constant fires since launch.

They even said as much on a dev stream

I’ve you got something constructive you want to say about Horde post it here, it’s the whole point of the thread.
Not to insult one another.

Enable better adjudication of people that want to join your match. Adding a player to a match underway is not a trivial consideration. Request to join should be queued and resolved during a paused game. Joining randomly as a single results in kicks. Getting random players results in trolls. In a lobby with fewer than five, the owner should be allowed to set parameters to join and even if they want uninvited to join. I’ve joined matches, made kills, distributed power, then got kicked. Once allowed to join, no kick allowed.

Part of the problem is that they’ve had to put out so many fires since launch. The game was not ready for launch.

On PC there are crashing issues same as 4. Still.

The microtransactions/prices are abysmal in this game. So is the grind and Tour system. The iron and scrap system is bad at the rate you earn it.

I could post more but I think much of it has already been said and this is a thread for trying to provide positive feedback, so…
