Has the new developer settings helped Gears 5's Netcode Issues?

Fam, the sponging in this game is horrid.its gotten the point people are botwalking or spamming up A … with no punish

I was browsing another gaming forum and came across a peculiar thread where users have the same kind of fps drops and hitching.

strangely enough it was caused by using a XB1 controller via BlueTooth. nobody knows why and this is a tech savvy group of people. the remedy was connecting directly with USB. if your issues is on any input method then it’s not related.

I’m going to test my setup later tonight and see if I can get better performance by going wired.

I don’t use Bluetooth. In fact, it’s not even enabled.

I don’t even have FPS drop. Every FPS counter (In-Game, monitor and Nvidia) show a steady 144ish FPS. It’s a stutter that shouldn’t be happening and apparently it goes away on near launch drivers for Gears. However, I’m not about to revert to old drivers that hinder my other games performance for the sake of this game. They need to get their ■■■■ together.

I thought they fixed this in the developer playlist but NO… I hate those shoots getting out of cover with no aim.

I’ll be honest I took a long break from this game to play other games. I figured a ton of time has passed it had to got a little better. Fire it up and I was like wow literally nothing has changed. What the hell have they been doing this whole time? I was very frustrated before I left. Now I just laugh at how bad it still is. I don’t understand how professional game developers can’t fix this. I know a lot of these issues and making games is complex and hard but seemingly they haven’t done anything in a very long period of time which is ridiculous.

Dear coalition,

If you intend on reducing the movement speed please consider how over powered 5 lancers can be on maps that already favor rifle play. The lancer should have its ammo reduced at the very least. Giving players no opportunity to dodge bullets from horrible aim from afar will not increase the player base but decrease it. Gears is and will always be a CQC game. Close quarters combat and gore is at the pinnacle of what gears represents.

That is why we need consistent gameplay and a netcode that is reliable for the gears pvp multiplayer experience. If you continue to limit the iconic gears experience people will leave and the game will continue to slowly die. We do not need a smaller audience then what already exist. It’s like what zii said if you want people to take gears serously it has to reward the high skill ceiling players reach and that invested the time to get to that level.

Competitive games like fornite, csgo, and Starcraft flourish despite having a high skill ceiling because it is rewarding for viewers and players to see high level plays of that caliber happen without much controversy. Gears feels so random at times because identical shots will yield different results. Also lag compensation is a huge problem that’s completely illogical and should never be implemented in competitive play. Someone with higher ping and that is farther from the regional dedicated server should never be able to hit a player that has already pass the wall and is no where near the bullets trajectory.

There should be no reason why this game or servers would prioritize a slower players connection perspective over the faster one with lower latency. That is network 101 and a big part of why there is discrimination against high ping players that are rewarded for missing shots and getting kills that are not truly earned.

So my first video got 7k views, second, 2k, and my threads about 3-5k including reddit, For a channel my size thats huge and I know its not many views compared to the larger mexican or other streamers but still for me thats a LOT of traction and all the comments included. It’s a shame we haven’t had any response, even if its a “you are wrong and here’s why”.

I’ve tried my best and used all the tools I can to help.

@xxxGAUNTLETxxx i saw what you said about all TC’s hard work and good effort going to shiznit b/c these issues pop up again and again. I really thought netcode and just overall play of the game including trades and accurate damage and things like that had/was getting better. Game was playing better. But after last night and tonight, the game felt like it had regressed again.
I swear it feels like there is some type of virus or bug that TC cant find or fix. And every time it feels like the game is starting to play/feel better, that virus flares up and basically reverts the programming back to a setting that was just garbage.

It’s the Game on XBOX One X the same for 1-2 Min comes in a Match that the game Stutters / laggy ,
it feels like it’s running at 15 fps killed me after 2-3 times suddenly it is gone again.

This Game have so many bugs i don’t think tc will ever get a grip on it TC don’t even know what’s going on
let alone from Netcode.

How long has the bug menu been around when looking for a match? til today not fixed.

What they are good at is always finding excuses.

The stutters on PC are continuous unless i restart the game. I’m familiar with the Xbox issue but the PC one is a bit different.

Why can’t they get this right?

I don’t know, but as a game developer you should get a grip on problems like this, but they only create new ones.

I feel the same way. I took a couple days off, got some free time and decided to get some games in. At first I was just getting those 4 little cube with 3 solid icon, I guess they represent server connection, than I’ll rubber band ,teleport, than disconnect. Happen a few matches in a row. So I turned it off. Factory reset my router, open up all ports and hell even changed my password. Just in case some kinda soft reset was happening that I’m just not noticing. Just wanted to try something lol. Waste of time it’s just Gears.
I actually did see a weird play list for new players. Than it vanished. Maybe TC was just messing around. My first thought was that’s cool. Hopefully there are safe guards so trolls that know how to play don’t go in there just start smashing new player’s. It’s said something like " are you new to Gears well step on in or something. No sure like I said it vanished maybe that’s why game was s*** today. TC was messing around. Probably be active on Tuesday.

i love gears, but this game so broken, and unjoyable. i am usually the lowest ping, yet higher pings get the advantage. what BS.
also the delay on shotting after run is herdenous. wallboucning is fine, but its not to the pint where all other play styles are viaable due to thse delays or crap strafing, etc.
im sad to to say and feel this franchise is done.
at the end of gears 4 they were on’the rgiht track.
gears 5 has been blunder after blunder when it comes to vs.
the campagin is great. horde and espacr are great. but vervus is an absolutle shambles.
just make gears 3 remeaster and be done with it.
(by the way ive just come off playing gears hence the rant - tip, if you wanna get hyped for a fight, play gears before)

So true… i think TC will never fix this issue… I’m not going to buy a xbox series x to play another gears like this. This franchise must die in this generation.

Currently the ping gap is something that is affecting everyone regardless of whether you are with low or high ping, my ping is currently between 80-100 but you really notice a difference when having higher ping added to that the inconsistencies to the point that it is preferable to condition a high ping 150+ to go with `` advantage ‘’

that icon indicates packet loss, the WiFi icon is general latency issues

it’s easy to test packet loss if you have a PC handy

I have latency issues with everyone, lower, higher and same ping, even with bots.
I usually play with 40ms ping.

I’m on a x box.

Confirmed by TC top one is a server connection issues the bottom one with WiFi is packet loss.

other way around

the 4 squares with the missing square represent lost packets. unless TC does things upside down other developers use those squares (+1 missing) to represent packet loss.
