Turn it on in your settings, spread the word so others know.
Thanks man, don’t know why they would do such a thing, no one talks in game, the only social communication that was useful
Happy to help!
I wish, but it’s just hidden .
He can’t, they won’t be able to see it
If it was changed. Shouldn’t there be a notice about the changes when you log in. AKA announcement?
There is an in-game announcement, the one that everybody skips and goes straight to play.
This change is abominable. Lastnight I was in a private 50 horde match where 3, including the host, left and it was just me as Nomad and a Veteran who was a level 22, no re-up. No big deal, I figured we’ll play til we wipe.
I was handling things pretty well and you could tell he was figuring things out…buying everything he could and upgrading his barriers to 3. Again, no big deal, he’s learning. When he came over to my side and started upgrading my lvl 2 vertical barriers, I prayed his chat was on and sent several messages…very kindly…asking him to stop, and why I was asking him to stop. We all had to learn at some point, I was not pissed. His chat was obviously not on as he continued to upgrade my stuff. So, yea, then I was pissed. I simply quit because I was not going to waste my time between waves, repairing barriers.
So it dawned on me that this ridiculous chat change, to “avoid harassment” will actually just cause people to get pissed when they wouldn’t have before, and possibly private message people with some actual mean messages where they wouldn’t have come close to doing that before.
We don’t need TC to protect us or do our thinking for us. This is asinine. Yes it can be enabled easily but that’s relying on people READING that’s it’s off to begin with.
This change is awful
Tc catering to the noobie snowflakes
Exactly. So many people don’t read the update notes, TWiG, FB, Twitter, Forums, etc. They’re literally littered all over social media yet I’m always seeing people asking the same questions about things that are changed when if they just took the time to search and read said social platforms wouldn’t be littered with unnecessary questions
I don’t see why they didn’t just put a profanity filter in the chat box instead of removing it. Such a hinderance in PvE.
There kinda is but it tends to filter out words or sentences that don’t contain any offensive words or profanity as well, which makes me think people would turn it off due to that.
Realistically, the main toxicity seemed to be coming from PvP from what I hear and much more rarely PvE, and TC clearly has features within those modes separated in their code so why wasn’t it possible to do the same for the text chat box? Then again, they might not have had the idea to do that. Who knows really.
Yeah I agree, the main area of toxic chat is in PVP. I can’t remember the last time I saw people slagging each other off in PvE. It’s really usefull in PvE, not so much in PvP
This is going to get much worse. I see it all the time from nearly every corner. Players/people calling for something to be removed or censored or turned off because it upsets them. The whole this might cause me a problem so I wish to be accommadated safely is total BS and the fact that devs are making changes like this is extremely dangerous. The option was always there to turn it off yourself and when anyone ever complained they should of received a response with instructions on how to disable in game chat.
Mod edit: Politics not allowed on forum.
I’d guess at least 3/4 of players skipped past the announcement and thus have no idea that their teammates might be trying to communicate with them. It was an awful idea to drop this on the population without advance warning. Simply adding the option to disable text chat would have solved whatever issues some people are having without disrupting the coordination of everyone else.
Lol why do they keep making bad decisions.
How about making the mute function… mute all communication from the muted player. Don’t punish all players because some players cant behave.
This. Make it work for expressions, too.
