Halloween skins being behind a paywall has nothing to do with unstable servers. They’re not going to change their business model just because they suck at their job. They’re going to try to get better at their job to make their business worth you being a customer. If it’s not worth it to you, then it’s on you to stop playing/buying. But no business is going to say “we suck, so we’re going to forfeit our money”.
Most people paid $0 for Gears 5. I feel like a word exists for that.
You’re very dense. They didn’t pay $0 for it. They paid for Gamepass which isn’t free, it’s a rental service. You’re still paying to use the content no matter how much. Gamepass can be upwards of $45 per 3 months. Gamepass is more than regular Xbox live. However, you still have to renew gamepass if you want to play it, or you have to buy the full retail game.
An F2P means you literrally pay nothing, which these people didn’t. A subscription service doesn’t make something free.
Look at what EA and Dice did with Battlefront 2.They did change their business model and turned the game around, with continual and significant content on the way. Not just skins, but entire game modes, factions and eras.
I don’t have the patience or time to wait 2 years for Gears 5 to get there. It’s unrealistic to expect TC to release everything missing from the title in a few months, but they can start with the small, easy stuff - being skins etc while they work on the bugs.
(Battlefront cosmetics still cost $$$, but the point is that they changed their model, and the game itself as a result of negative player feedback).
Just because it’s on GP doesnt make it free. By that logic Netflix movies are free. Regardless of whether someone paid a dollar for the sub, full price for the game or just happened to have GP before Gears5 launched, it doesn’t make it free.
THANK YOU, he so dense!
Onyx, always fighting the good fight I see lol.
I will continue to fight the good fight. Somebody has to. This game is not F2P, no matter how many times people try to say otherwise.
Were those games not pay to win and they changed due to the backlash? Changing pay to win MTX to save face is not the same as removing MTX because your servers have been wonky.
Pay to win is also objectively wrong. Selling cosmetics on top of earnable content is up to interpretation (I believe it’s fine and people are entitled).
That’s a fair point, but I hope we see changes from TC in terms of releasing cosmetic and functional content anyway.
Same goes for ranking issues, connectivity, bugs etc, which I trust them to do.
It’s easy to see content practices and game quality as seperate entities so I’ll say one issue would be more tolerable without the other.
I appreciate the reasonable debate.
True, but that’s the route MS is taking with their IPs, as they see GP as an excuse to treat them like f2p games. Oh well, we had a good run Onyx.
Yes, I certainly hope they get their act together regarding the technical side and I hope they reduce their prices to be more reasonable. I also hope they go with the trend of good skins in the store and more good skins in Tours, so that everyone can be happy.
to being civil
So they’re not buying a full retail game. Yet somehow still play it at not the retail cost.
Look, it is a retail game. The price tag is what it is. Don’t care anymore. I win, you lose. Get over it. It is not F2P. Accept that as a fact.
Don’t really care if they want to sell special event themed skins, not interested either way.
There’s a ton of issues in the game I agree, maybe they could be a little more generous in places because of it. But in general if they want to sell special event skins, it’s whatever.
People you can earn Frankenstein Imago for free. And what more in your life you need?

That’s their own choice though. They don’t NEED to stop. If they can afford/ want things they can.
Exactly!!! And when I go to McDonald’s I should get a free meal as a thank you for being a loyal customer despite the fact they forgot my fries from time to time.
