Thanks. What GPU are you using? Also are you overclocking your graphics card?
Hello Manuel, I didnât notice any changes after the update. Yesterday I encountered a crash to the desktop unfortunately with no error code or pop up. Thanks for your support.
Thank you. Was this while playing a campaign or multiplayer? Was it while quitting the match/game or in the middle of the game?
Youâre absolutely welcome! It was in the lobby between matches not during a match or an actual loading screen. First the audio got cut off for a second or two and then it crashed. Even though I experience stability issues and a 100% CPU usage during loading screens and 0% GPU usage I still havenât encounter a crash during loadings and hopefully I wonât. Fingers Crossed
Hey Manuel,no luck so far Iâve tried the new update with drivers 436.30 and 436.48 and game still CTD with GW502 error message after some time.
Things already tried:
-resetting GPU to stock settings
-closing Afterburner/Rivaturner/Gamebar/NV Experience
-clearing GLCache, D3DSCache
-resetting the app (GEARS5)
-making sure windows is set to automatically manage paging file
Only thing working so far its driver 436.15 (with my regular OC GPU profile in afterburner) and i can play hours and hours without any crashes
One thing i notice is if you are multitasking (e.g. viewing youtube videos in PIP mode while gaming) Gears 5 instantly crash while the game is loading an escape match, this do not happen if you are using driver 436.15
Thanks for the feedback. Can you describe how you are playing back a YouTube video in PIP mode? When we are using debug drivers, we are unable to reproduce the crashes which is making it hard to root cause this issue so if there is a good way to force the game to crash consistently, it would be very helpful.
Sure thing Manuel!
-Using Chrome download this extension Picture-in-Picture Extension (by Google)
-now go to youtube and play any video,
-when the video starts push the PIP extension button at the right side corner of your browser and the video should be playing in a new always on-top window (PIP)
-now play Gears 5
I suggest you to play in escape mode which is i found youâll get the GW502 error rather quickly while the game is loading a map.
One more question. Are you using Windows Store or Steam version of the game?
The windows store version.
WellâŚI am on newest nvidia drivers. Windows store version. Game is crashing after one MP game with gw502 error. Heeeeelp !!! 3440 x 1440 res, gtx 1080 and i7 6700k. Game just crashes and crashes. What is going on. It worked flawlessly before and now crash after crash. Not impressed.
Seeing as this is marked as âsolvedâ but hasnât been really, I guess I am going to open up a separate thread. I have tried EVERYTHING.
disabling all overlays, tried every version of drivers including studio and clean installs OR with DDU, with/without external monitors, with and without geforce experience, synching time (someone said it may work), every graphical setting combination, windows paging file was already set to automatic, logged out of my Xbox account on store&pc and logged back in⌠reinstalling the game several times.
TO NOTE: A friend has the same laptop with full-size 1070 card and has no issues. Also, while my game crashes while loading a multiplayer game after 1-4 matches, I can reliably cause it to crash at main menu by changing an external monitor that the game was being viewed on to âscale using displayâ as opposed to GPU. It is the same error alwaysâGW502. The hotfix Sept. 10th drivers did not solve this problem, I am running 436.48 currently and this problem persists. I will have to cancel my game pass if I canât fix this within the next month. I bought it solely to try the new Gears. I did notice Game Bar has an imcompatibility issue and terrible default settings that upscaled textures increasing CPU load and not utilizing the GPU at all⌠I recently disabled it and this fixed my stuttering when running certain versions of the drivers like 436.30, but it still crashes.
I seemed to have fixed mine changing my paging file size to auto. Been playing 4 hours.
I had daily crash with 436.30 and Gears 5 prior to Oct Gears patch. It was always on the blue static splash screen with rotating COG when loading up the game or returning to main menu. All video was lost. This is 1080Ti up to date W10.
I reverted to 436.15 and had zero crashes in two weeks.
For your test with the new Gears Title Update Iâve updated to 436.48 and after a number of runs over some days I have just got the same problem as 436.30 - freeze with video lost at the exact same point in loading
I will stay on 436.48 but as Iâve completed campaign I wonât be playing Gears 5 until fixed. Very disappointing.
Iâve been experiencing the GW502 error. I have a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080ti.
Iâve tried both the Xbox Beta app version and Steam version of Gears 5. I get the GW502 error on both versions.
Itâs about 50/50 whether I can get past the intro cinematics without crashing - if i do get past them, its rare that I can complete a match without the GW502 error occuring. To troubleshoot I have:
DDU uninstall and reinstall graphics driver. Tried this with 436.48, 436.50 and 436.15 - experience the issue on all driver versions.
Reset motherboard to factory settings and cleared CMOS.
Clean install of windows on two separate NVME drives.
Tried RAM in various configurations in different slots.
Removed all peripherals apart from mouse and keyboard.
I have an X570 so thought it may have been an issue with the new chipset or PCI-E 4 interface. So I bought a cheaper, more mature B450 chipset board - still the same GW502 issue.
My friend has basically identical specs to me - same CPU, graphics, motherboard chipset and is not experiencing the error.
This is very, very frustrating and I do hope a fix is forthcoming. Iâve enjoyed the brief moments that Iâve actually been able to play this game.
Thats pretty bad and youve put a lot into trying to solve it.
Luckily my freeze on load with all video lost on 1080ti never happened after reverting to 436.15 so I was able to finish the campaign and then go back to latest driver release - so no more Gears 5 for me.
Hey guys; thought I would let everyone know on here that I have been in contacts with Nvidia about this, even after the update. When the recent update was released they had gotten back to me to have me test it (& it has not gotten any better). Just random GW502 error before maps load. So they got a lot of information from myself & they actually replicated the issue on their end so they know what is happening first hand. They currently have their engineers working on it to resolve. SoâŚmaybe expect a resolution in a future update, hopefully.
This should have been fixed WEEKS ago. Not over a month AFTER the game is out.
the Gears 4 Nvidia issue has persisted from June 2017, itâs still not fixed.
this why I was asking in the lead-up to Gears 5 launch if Nvidia cards were being thoroughly tested at the studio.
I think this is a Windows issue, not related to Gears 5
Which Windows issue? Weâre not blaming anyone just reporting facts.
Its up to either TC or NV devs to locate the problem and either fix or work-around. Nothing Microsoft can do can make the crashes go away so its not a âwindows issueâ
The real problem is the length of time passed and lack of proper acknowledgement from either TC or NV - this is the real âissueâ - we know complex software has bugs and every PC is different - but fatal game crashes should be #1 priority
Clearly NV only support GTX cards and GTX games and TC priorities are known only unto themselves
