I played a little bit of Phoenix Point but got lost in other games and haven’t gone back.

Yeah but there was no way it would ever be close to as successful as a regular Gears game, that is my point. They should’ve had a more creative idea, but they wasted it on this. To be fair Gears definitely isn’t the only game franchise to ever have awful spinoffs, but its like most where the spinoff never gathers steam and is abandoned soon.
The game came out Apr 28th, of course it was popular for like a month or so, by that logic Gears 5 was the most popular Gears game ever made because it was #1 popularity wise within the first month it was released

Reviews are only valued as they typically garner more sales.
I wasn’t saying it was an awful game, I was saying the idea was stupid.
Common Sense. An Xbox game releases exlusively on PC for the majority of its launch? Turn Based? Like there’s only about 2 other strategy games on the market that are successful and those games aren’t very popular either.
In short: Gears Tactics was Microsoft trying to branch out their IP, didn’t work, Gears Tactics 2 won’t happen and assuming Gears 6 isn’t mindblowing I suspect it’ll be the last. Instead of wasting all that talent on Tactics they would’ve been better off spending it on 5/6.
