Gears Tactics - Heroes

Hey that reminds me. Are there any differences between the Microsoft Store and Steam versions? This question is not specifically directed at you, just in general.

I dont believe so, I think the steam one may ask for your Microsoft account. While the microsoft account will have it. If you want any type of mods though go steam (idk if tactics will even have any, but if there are ever any they will be on steam)

Good point. Also I hope there are enough server resources so this game doesn’t get a botched launch like so many other “always online” PvE games.

I’m kind of impressed. Launching a major game like this during a global pandemic. I’m willing to forgive launch hiccups. Debating on preordering.

I’m just using gamepass, would pre order if I didnt have gamepass (may just buy it either way as I’m not the biggest fan of gamepass, but I dont see a lot of replayability so far from this game)

I have GPU just not willing to try MS Store because of all the complaints.

I’m looking forward to next Thursday’s where they mentioned at bottom of article that it’ll be enemies they will detail next.

Sadly if it follows the pattern so far it will just tell us stuff that has already been told

But they gave a little more detail on Gabe, Sid and Mika which I hadn’t known. So I’m guessing they could detail Ukkon and Disciple more.

I want to understand how a mission from Prescott to retrieve files turns into a hunt for Ukkon.

Possibly in the same manner things turn south in Gears: Judgement?

The squad had an original directive but realised the bigger picture - that Karn needed to be stopped so the situation changed, going against advisement/previous orders.

I’m hoping it’s not that. That’s the same story we have with Marcus trying to save his father and as you mentioned, Gears Judgment and the big secret at the end.

Marcus had more a personal goal, but the story of a well-intentioned soldier going against orders for the greater good is a played out trope, yeah.

I want it to be more of a “Prescott is trying to hide something and wants Gabe’s squad to retrieve the file” but it all goes horribly wrong because the locust want the same thing so the squad’s retreat is cut off and they have to keep pushing forward to make their way home eventually.

Also I am getting strong “Star Wars: Rogue One” vibes where there is a scrappy squad of soldiers trying to retrieve some files right before a superweapon is activated. Doesn’t look good for Gabe.

Yeah, I see. So he’s not your target, you are his target, because he wants those files as well for whatever reason.

That could be a fun spin, desperately pushing across Sera scrabbling together resources and survivors to barely escape and survive Ukkon snapping at your heels the whole way. Plenty of room for heroic last stands / sacrifices as well and whatnot. I like the implication that Ukkon is intelligent and so appreciate his goal being information-driven.

You worded it better than I did

I know they’ve shown a random gears death on the ign video (and there was nothing special) but I really really really hope that theres a cutscene remembering a Gear that dies, hopefully they have a few lines in cutscenes as well. They have a nickname system so it’s possible that they could just be called that in cutscenes

Maybe Ukkon wants something to do with Niles’ notes the COG would’ve confiscated?

How he created the proto-Drones, and Ukkon wants to steal the information to quicken the pace of his own Locust engineering?

He does survive until after V-Day.
