It does to a certain extent. Fact. Horde is now hero mode.
I hope they add Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Goku, Lara Croft, Doom Guy, Crash Bandicoot, Alien, Predator and maybe Stormtroopers to the multiplayer roster.
That would be cool.
Noobs automatically get Stormtroopers. They couldn’t aim if their life depended on it
The game went from vVv shotgun clutches to master chief and no locust lol. Its a 2 shot shotgun down or a rifle, there is no movement, wall canceling is a cancer.
I agree to an extent, I didn’t like the colour blast skins, wrestler/luchador, etc. Stuff like that doesn’t belong in Gears. I tolerated the Zombie skins because it’s the only way I could play as my favourite variant of Dom.
RTJ wasn’t for me since they were just reskins with a different head, El-P did have some funny dialogue though.
I think collaborating with franchises such as Halo and Terminator is a step in the right direction to help Gears grow.
I think it goes beyond guest characters. You can have them all, I mean Halo and the Terminator aren’t exempt from grit but its Gears’ own lack of focus on grit that comes through.
Everything is too blue, too yellow, sleek and metal. The new COG and their reliance on those two colors and metal makes it clash with prior games where the art style relied on earthy concrete and marble, brick and mortar.
Stormtroopers can aim.
Tell that to the unscathed Han and Luke
There, that’s better.
Considering how little of the backstory and buildup was explored, I really would have liked more of that rather than a 20 something year jump, characters killed in that time, and a random but overly in your face change to the enemies. I agree that games need to evolve or die but this wasn’t evolution, it was just a random change that didn’t really change anything.
It’s like Disney’s star wars or the new star trek vs old star trek. They had to legally change so much or else be forced to pay someone money for using their characters and such. So, instead of fighting grubs and learning about the queen and hollow and all that, we’re suddenly tossed onto this new female lead with no information other than “She’s super special and you all need to love her already”. Why not just give us more of the characters we love, like Sam, Bernie, and Anya?
The new look and sudden hentai tentacles are a bit ridiculous, which is saying something for a series that lets you chainsaw people with your gun…
There was an interview with the main man on it, where he said gears 4 was all about getting the feel down and the game play, while gears 5 was going to be all about characters and story. I’m very glad to hear that but random 20+ year leap was still random and unnecessary. I would have much rather had the grubs evolving over the course of two or three games, as the lambency took over. Now, “invincible crystals” and shape shifting monsters that can control machines with their minds just seems too… generic? ungears? I dunno, but it’s like halo suddenly introducing magic and spells to their world. I’m sure they could make it work but what?
i love everything about this reply.
If the game has to evolve… Then why they are using the same gun reload animations of 2006? The same execution animations of 2008?
They are “evolving” the wrong things in my personal opinion.
Emotes, arcade with no gnasher loadout (this game would be dead without the gnasher long before lancer bandits ever played it btw) is really making me feel like its changed or yea i agree idendity crises
Also gears of war has such an original design, theres no game thts like it , so why change ? No new players will flock to gears 5 cause its a rifle fest all of a sudden, everyone will leave after the 1st month and the “the real fans” will stay soSTOP SUCKING UP TO THE NEWBS and give the real fans wht we want… Pls
Erm, because there is no need? Why do you need to change the reload animations? How many ways do you need to put a bullet in the chamber of a Longshot?
Certain executions have been changed as well, like the Gnasher, and Gears 5 will feature unlockable executions, so we will be getting different ones.
If you are basing an argument over reload animations and executions then it’s not going to last long
I appreciate that they are trying to evolve the game and make it their own. The Coalition is not Epic Games and should follow the creative direction they believe in. Of course this is going to upset people because of the quality of the original trilogy, but as many have stated, change is necessary. Personally, I think Epic did a great job telling the story of Delta Squad and the Locust War and I was hoping the next series would actually move to a completely new squad with a new enemy. However in retrospect, TC probably made good moves keeping the old heroes around in a support role and reinventing the Locust into a new threat. Either way, we are days away from a new Gears game in 2019 and I am still excited and eager to find out what happens next. I couldn’t ask for anything more that that.
Also, I think people tend to look at MP from the previous games with rose colored glasses. They all had significant problems, but that was all apart of the charm. I started playing with Gears 2 and in my experience, Gears 4 was the smoothest online experience of the bunch. I did play 4 the least, but that was due to less time for video games.
This Kait AAPE, what a shame…
I agree it doesn’t look great. But this is just my opinion. Even I probably won’t get it anyway.
Better than the game getting WOKE
