Agreed on the climax part. Just something I thought would be cool down the road. We still gotta see how the queen changes up the swarm. And I’m excited just to get the last issue of hivebusters. If the venom continues to work as it is now, the swarm are kinda fu*ked
That’s my only major gripe with the Post-Locust era right now. The stakes are not very high in the grand scheme of things right now. At the end of 5 we see a glimpse of the COG finally getting dunked on for a change as opposed to being absolute powerhouses at the end of 4.
We’re seeing the rise of the Swarm and them doing some real damage finally, and while it’s all logical that the COG are more prepared this time, we also need something to challenge them hard. My best guess would be politics/power struggles that the Swarm can capitalize on.
And I haven’t read Hivebusters just yet. How is it?
I think the new queen will push new advances in the engineering department, both mechanical and in biology. Locust were mostly engineered and now with a queen they can engineer new / tougher monsters / war machines.
Hivebusters is awesome in my opinion. Especially since we don’t know what’s going to happen to these characters. Mac is definitely the star though. You get a lot of insight to him, hes got a pretty fu*ked up past. I wont spoil too much, but the goofy wolf tattoo on his arm has some pretty cool significance. They should of had their own game though in my opinion, some wasted potential.
I think JD has too much Stroud in him. Remember how Anya’s mother died.
Marcus would have been smarter about it, maybe picked up a fallen enemy’s weapon and distracted the Queen long enough for Kait to get away.
Good point, I forgot about her mom, overall I’m still more excited to see how he grows as a character vs Del, like I said before hes just kinda too plain to pick over JD.
H Carmine = Dead
Or maybe the next choice will be the fate of H. Carmine!?
I hope they do that again, but the gag seems to be keep Clay, kill his nieces and nephews
can we please not just get Carmine twins and kill one and turn the other into a reoccurring character like Clay?
How about Old Lady Carmine, the Matriarch, who is just as tough if not tougher than Marcus?
I think that JD/Del will die on the first act on Gears 6 because TC is too lazy to deliver good story (no DLC story on Gears 4 and at the moment no DLC for 5), so they just need to do a few changes in cinematics and chat and after that the game is the same for everyone, regardless of their choice.
Or they can give them the “alternate ending for Clay Carmine”
*While Kait and JD/Del are thinking about how to fight the Swarm from a different angle, they remember JD/Del
Kait: I miss JD/Del. I wanted to spend more time with him, not fighting this war, just spending time doing something different…
JD/Del: I really miss him. So many adventures, perils and…
JD/Del face is covered by tears, He is so concentrated on the memories of his friend that he didn’t hear Kait saying “Watch out!!”
A banana peel was in the floor. JD/Del slips and he falls and rolls down stairs. He hit his head against a golden statue of Mina Jinn, and he dies instantly.*
I think there will be a time jump. No time to mourn the dead.
Who knows, maybe they’ll release a couple of books and comics between now and 6, skip years of the war and introduce a bunch of new faces.
Y’know… kind of like what Epic did between 2 and 3. Hopefully not though, cause them doing that annoyed the ■■■■■■■ crap outta me.
Yea that time jump bothered me at first too. After reading the 3 books … 3! They had in between those games I overall found myself enjoying it more now.
Would be sweet! We know mama Carmine was alive atleast into gears 2. And If she died I’m sure Clay would’ve got a Tat, so she must be still kicking.
Considering TC made something more absurd than Terminator Dark Fate, with plot holes a kilometer wide…
Kait will sacrifice herself to save JD and whomever. Gears of War ends. Time to start making a spinoff series with a different Dev.
To be fair, the “war” was won after 2 and in Gears 3 it was the genocidal end.
I don’t think there would be much gameplay with more relevant plot to be had in-between. Then again, Chapters 1 and 2 of Gears 3 was basically killing a Lambent Leviathan and getting to Anvil Gate with lots of character moments throughout it. So maybe there could’ve been something.
What a terribly choice you have decided there. Del. I mean DEL !!!
The whining whinge bag. You want Del to survive. You know what, i thing it is time someone put up a Poll to see who would be more preferential. I know who i would choose, and so i did without hesitation in the Campaign.
I got to admit i hate Del, never really liked him, and to be perfectly honest, hated that Del was an only choice for Engineer, until Baird was available, now, i do not touch him at all. Done, dusted and forgotten.
I would like to point out that Delta Squad is not Marcus and Cole anymore, they are both now just extras, valuable extras in the game. With Kait, JD, Del and Jack at the forefront, Marcus and Cole are ageing heroes of a long fought war gone in to history.
Your idea that Kait would instinctively choose Del puzzles me, so i would like to know how you got to that decision. If you do not mind. Personally, my choice would be Del, but not for the obvious choice, his constant whining, but instead because of Marcus. Del has no one, except Kait and JD, JD has Marcus and Kait, and even Cole and Baird. It is a matter of numbers, who would be missed the most.
In game, Del does not do any Engineering, fixing or anything to the like, Jack does all that, Jack do this, Jack do that, Jack fetch. Del, just whinges, and is only useful in Horde, and even then, you have Baird and even Kat to choose from.
Simply put, on all points, Del is 100% expendable.
Hate is a pretty strong word.
Kait is still plugged in at New Hope.
Cue Gears 6…
Y’all hate it, but it makes complete sense.
Problem solved.
