Gears 5 Tech Test - Official Feedback Thread

Gears 5 feed back

Why introduce the reverse omen? This has never been an issue in previous iterations of Gears so why change it now? If it ain’t broke…

I don’t like the hold for minimap, again, I don’t see why this was changed from select + B in Gears 4.

Aim assist seems to be very prominent and I would like to be able to disable this.

Please don’t include the weapon respawn timer. It is part of the skill of the game to know when the weapons are likely to respawn.

Why do we need kill cam or emotes, it feels very casual and not like Gears.

Not a fan of chainsaw being at RB. Why not continue to have it as hold B. You can still retain melee as tap B.

Bring back Y for meatshield, or at least allow customisation.

I don’t know if you guys can make this possible but I would love to see
You guys bring back every single map Cog & Locust characters of all the gears of war games including the onyx Guard and of course include new maps and characters as well

People with high pings have been benefitting since the advent of the franchise in 2006. Epic couldn’t fix it. TC couldn’t fix it.

It’s something that is unfortunately a part of Gears in itself.

Having briefly revisited G4 pvp the other day…which I might add I don’t think is the most enjoyable Gears pvp…yup, G5 tech test was beyond garbage.

TC really trying to push their stamp on Gears…a series they had no hand in creating, a series they, as an untested dev, were given on a silver platter.

The only areas where TC shine - their cosmetic inventiveness and greed - both of which are despicable. Their insatiable greed is particularly disgusting…markers, blood splatters and so on.

Greed I disagree with.

If TC were greedy, they would’ve had RNG packs in Gears 5 purchasable with real money. If TC were greedy, they would’ve put in a season pass. If TC were greedy, they would’ve made Tour of Duty only accessible with real money.

If TC are greedy, they are doing a bad job at it. And if gaming has taught me anything in the last few years, businesses wont hold back on making money from games and microtransations.

If TC are greedy, I’d hate to know what Activision and EA are.

True, and each game has it’s issues but with TC I’ve never had the high ping issue as bad as with them.

Monetising as many aspects of the experience as possible…greed.

As for RNG packs, SPs etc, which is your main point.

The industry is changing, regulators, governments are poking their noses in and not liking what they are seeing. Several big games / devs / pubs, Destiny for example, have / are in the process of ditching loot boxes and going the direct (and generally expensive) purchase route.

This is not to benefit the gamer.

It is to benefit the devs/pubs, nothing more. It is to get ahead of legislation, to avoid further backlash, to try and garner some positive news around MTs for a change.

They will have teams of analysts feeding them data about every single element of MT implementation, and you can guarantee that they will be implemented and priced in such a way so as to maximise the return.

Part of this will also include analyses around what content to lock players out of, what content to give players access to without further expense. For G5, that everything is open to players is because TC have worked out that is how they will make the most money.

Now that’s business. I don’t like it. I think the balance in gaming has moved too far to the corporate side. But I understand why, I get it.

But I will still call it out for what it is.

I don’t see it as an issue if devs make money off cosmetics.

They don’t change or affect the game and is just a personal, visual preference of characters and skins.

If you want to buy them then that’s on the consumer.

Games exist to make money and as much money as possible.

The main problem I have with Gears 4 was the RNG packs, and within the industry is RNG packs.

I have no problems with direct purchases that are more expensive, you know what you are buying. You know the price. If I wanted all the characters from a Black Steel pack I had to pay much more to get them all.

The price is excessive. It is too much. But it is still an improvement from the prior. At this point now, I think the MT’s will stay this way for a long time now, unless Governments come in with price ceilings.

Even some Governments cant agree, the UK is saying the FUT pack system is fine, yet Belgium have banned it. Which I find intriguing.

They are specifically saying it cannot be labelled as gambling as they don’t get money in return, nor can cash out the skins for money from the first party websites.

Direct Purchase is definitely not more expensive than RNG.

At least, it wasn’t in Gears 4.

I think Griffin was a high price in Gears 4. I know you could earn it for free, but it was a high price.

And when I was referring to direct purchases being expensive, I was being a little biased in my opinion. I look at the price at skins in Apex especially, and the skin, for the price, is quite high.

I look at BO4 as an example as well (quite a extreme example, I know), but some skins cost a third of the base game itself.

Griffin was high price because he was to be earned.

I just found it confusing, that an EU country found it to be guilty early on, but another found it alright. Not even people in power can agree on this, which I find the most worrying in this situation.

How much are skins in Apex?

I would say anything above $50 is expensive.

Anything over $100 is really expensive.

Anything over $250 is a little crazy.

Anything over $500 is definitely crazy.

And anything over $1,000 is just plain unnecessary.

Although,

Given the right game, skin & quality - I would probably pay up to $2,000 for a Skin and a Weapon Set.

But that’s extreme and I don’t think Gears 5 would ever be that game now that I’ve played it.

Once upon a time in 4 maybe.

Politics is dictated by lobbyists and interest groups.

The UK is currently under a right wing Conservative Government.

It’s all about making money.

A skin in Apex typically costs around 1800 Apex coins, which would go to around $20.

Ah ok,

I’d say on the high side but within reason.

Games like that should be $5-$10.

I can understand why it is high, it is a F2P game after all, but even then, it is on the high side.

All the examples I see have the prices of these skins at similar prices, which worries me a bit for Gears 5 direct purchases, especially as TC has said there is going to be content in there that isn’t going to be in the Tour of Duty.

I just hope whatever research TC has done into the pricing strategy is right, for their sakes.

Pricing will reflect the demand.

So if it sets a high price and people buy, then it’s no fault of TC.

They don’t owe anyone low priced skins.
