This game felt great even for just a test, way better than Gears 4 and to me it’s on par with Gears 3 the Gnasher damage up close needs to be fixed or looked over as I kept on getting 98% point blank and it’s unfair for me as well as anyone who shoots me and gets the same percentage, wall bounce feels held back, here you can only do like 5 bounces before having to roll I honestly don’t know why, I also seemed to roll when a cover is right in front of me and overall as a king of hill player it was fun, just some weapon tuning that you should look at and maybe this game can be good as gears 3, maybe.
I hope the Gears 5 in-game store doesn’t take quite as long to get into as GOW4’s store.
I wonder if TC is going to give any feedback in regards to issues/feedback and any changes they plan on implementing.
Imagine they will closer to launch.
I mean i do believe TC should address the movement speed, and what the final movement speed is intended to be. Is it intended to be slower than Gears 4? Were some of the rolling to shoot delays intentional or bugs? It seems like movement speed is the number 1 issue with the omen being #2.
All good questions TC will be better placed to answer during the livestreams than me.
Yes, they will say “here is the game, play it”
After being disappointed in the tech test,
My response will be:

One of the main things I fear with Gears 5 is future weapon tunings. They did nonstop tunings in GOW4. What I don’t want to see, is them ever mess with the universal weapon tunings where they’re ADDING any more effective damage to any of the current weapons.
I feel there’s atleast a slight nerf needed for rifles and definitely for the range fall-off of the gnasher. It’d be a nightmare, if people that preferred COMP tunings buy the game, then shortly after they start buffing stuff to where it’s full on CORE again. Since there’s only 1 tuning now, we’d be stuck with nothing.
I would like to play more before recommending tuning changes myself. I didnt get to play enough to question the balancing. Maybe adding more recoil to the Lancer would be enough. As far as the Gnasher as someone who was fine with Comp. tuning I wouldnt mind additional range fall off on the Gnasher, but you are basically at that point saying you want comp. tuning or else you arent happy. Since this is basically comp. tuning with slightly added damage. And if you go with comp. tuning then you need to add more bullets and active damage boost back in, which then throws off all the weapon balancing in place as of now.
Slightly added damage, nawh, it’s more than slightly. I don’t mind it still being in the middle, it’s like I said before on the Gnasher, just more fall-off and I’m fine. You shouldn’t be able to 1-shot gib a 100% health player from 7+ft.
That sounds like a case of lag comp/or just straight lag because at 5 ft the gnasher in Gears 5 does 50% damage consistently.
Gib range was 1ft for 100% in my experience.
Been playing gears since 200- blah blah blah
Some of the changes you guys made are goofy, but at the end of the day I don’t really care and I can get used to them. I like what you guys are doing in trying to make the game feel different and fresh with a new release. Unlike everyone else in these forums, I don’t want to keep playing the same exact game year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year
No gears game has ever felt or played the same.
I just really hate how they castrated frags and drop…
They used to be strategic power pickups worth fighting over… now they are things to kill distracted and/or noob players with, IF you manage to get them close enough.
Buzz has fewer blades, overkill has half the ammo. I mean come on! The overkill has the same number of shots as the longshot, are you fracking serious??
Why not reduce longshot and embar to 5, to match torque?
They seem to be really moving away from the variety addeed by the explosive pickups, and are herding people into just fighting it out with gnasher/lancer, with only sniper weapons intended to provide distance cover…
I am so incredibly disappointed with that direction …
Its common in gaming for weapons to need constant balancing. And the Overkill actually has a lot of power now so I understand the reduction in ammo. Im sure frags will be buffed otherwise might as well put more shocks down.
Lol, and enforcer is now a pickup… an enforcer…
Whoo hoo…
Wasnt the enforcer a pickup in Gears 4?
You’re saying you felt Gears 4 frag explosive radius made sense? I think the majority of the community agreed that the splash radius of frags in GOW4 was outrageous. You’re suppose to have to have some form of aim with them, not throw them within a 20 ft radius of enemies and kill everything in sight.
It seems they are actually adding more variety to the nades, making smokes last longer and have no stun, and providing stun grenades for that effect. Frag radius makes much more sense now.
The enforcer was cancer as a starting weapon. It should never have been one. The overkill damage is insane in Gears 5 so far though, especially since it can be rapid fired.
