no i like the new escalation
the old escalation was boring and the gnasher was a sawed off

also forgot to mention the up a fails sometimes when shooting the gnasher
hard aiming and shooting your shotgon has delays , from when youre coming off roadie run also.

please make the trigger instantly shoot your shotgun shot anytime its pressed, canceling out any aiming or other actitivies youre doing such as roadie running , up aing, or anything else

also melee bouncing is not reintroduced and was part of my pro movement style

everything else about the new mechanic is great , great job tc, just fix the mentioned above points other than that spectacular game you guys created it hands down.

Gnasher only having 6 shots and less ammo is very ■■■■■■, there was no reason to change it nor lessen the amount of ammo you can get for it.

GOW 5 needs to NOT change what has worked since forever(the gnasher) and not screw up a good mode(escalation) with a lives system that is going to be abused).

Gears 5 feels great. People complaining about shotguns and grenades never played the original gears. It feels fluid, original, but somehow has a different touch to it. I love arcade mode and being able to purchase guns. Escalation is great. Overall gameplay is incredibly smooth. I do feel a couple of requests are in order though…

  1. The COG health meter is so big that it covers most of the screen during a battle. It gives an unfair advantage to the player who has more health.

  2. I play on PC… if hold R is rev chainsaw, when I get into a lock with someone else chainsawing, tapping R is the most logical button to tap…not F

  3. I do feel like lancers down people incredibly fast. I play to it’s advantage, but Gears has always been more fun in close combat. With the enforcer and lancer doing major damage at range, it feels far and few between to get into a shotgun battle.

Overall, the game feels great, looks great and plays great. With a few tweaks, this game will be one of the top gears to date.

The gnasher is suppose to be as powerful as it is in GOW 4, it worked as it is suppose to.

Play with a bad team or when 1 or 2 people quit and tell me you like the garbage new lives system or when one guy is able to wipe your team and round 3 you have 3 people with 1 live each while the enemy team has 4 lives each.

Gnasher needs alot of work. Alot. Gnasher feels sluggish, kinda like Gears of war 1 gnasher. I can see that the pellet indictor, which is awesome but I have not missed so much shots and get one shot killed from like 5 meters. Even the hit box are wonky, shoot outside, or someone said 3 pellets one shot you, even if you’re out of the reticle. People are abusing the wall hug more often, like camping behind cover and one shotting, which I don’t mind but bleh it gets kinda like annoying, especially when you’re trying to get them out and they have that tactical advantage just camping unless you wallbounce like a God. Gnasher feels slow, I have never been humiliated to wallbounce and miss my damn shots, the dodge roll is damn wonky and not that much recovery, maybe for active reload give it extra speed and bullets OR have a reticle for blind firing after a successful active but that sounds way OP tbh but it’s my concern. I been dying alot to corner hug shotguns, where I could have sworn where I try to shoot at the edge from the corner, somewhat bit registers that much so I end up dying for missing not ■■■■, times where I’ll be super close range and get like a close shot and I end yp doing like 97 percent damage and he gets to one shot, I actually was super close to some dude with a gnasher like say 3 meters? I actually downed him rather than just gibbing him. Wall boucne is smooth in a sense but definitely needs work. There’s so much times I would wall bounce and end yp doing awkward dodge rolls and trying to get out of cover and it ends me up dying most of the time, sometimes I clutch, sometimes I end up wallbouncing like a ■■■■■■■ and miss almost all of my shots even though I’m up close and personal with my blind fire aligned and just poof dead lel try hard. That needs more tuning, gnasher pop shots feel weird, like it’s too fast but it’s not perfect, I can’t explain it, the sensitivity is way too slow, I have never seen myself recover so slowly or trying to turn my body to do sick ■■■ wallbounce clutch, makes me and probably ever veteran gnasher players look like clowns

It’s Gears of war with a hybrid of 3. The movement feels very sluggish, it’s not a bad thing but it should follow examples of Gears of war 3 movement, it’s probably the reason why Gears of war 3 the most and best Multiplayer of history of Gears franchise. DO NOT FORGET YOUR AUDIENCE, COALTION, I KNOW YOU’RE TRYING TO PANDER TO NEWBIES AND JOURNALISTS, BUT PLEASE REMEMBER US, THE GEARS OF WAR VETERAN. LEARN FROM WHAT EPIC AND CLIFFY DID WITH GEARS 1-3. I believe in you, The coalition. But follow the footsteps of what made Gears of war fun. It may no t be a great place for starters and newcomers and we may be harsh on them, but we are the one that makes Gears of war, well Gears of war :slight_smile:. From sweaty gnasher try hard to cute wall bouncing scrubs to epic clutches, gears of war will always remain in our hearts and for all, just don’t alienate us and forget the people who stuck for this franchise for 11 years.

I think the hammer burst in general is too weak with headshot damage, sometimes i dont get a “critical” hit marker and kill in 2-3 burst with a headshot , Other times i get a “super critical” hit marker with multiple shots and isn’t an instant death or 2nd burst instant down. I find this being an issue because i am getting a super critical hit marker on a “Head shot” and requiring more then one headshot for a kill? Not all characters wear helmets .

Totally agree, also i and alot of my Friends feel like it doesnt help aiming it does the exact opposite lol.

Aim assist to the extent that is in KOTH makes the game less enjoyable and skillful. Its totally unnecessary tbh I like the smoothness, but at the same time the movement feels very restricted/awkard, especially for alt. The beta is solid, I enjoy it despite those small flaws that should (atleast alt glitch) get addressed by launch.

Honestly really enjoying the gameplay. Like everything else when stuff changes a lot of people like to complain about. Then the same people complain about things not changing. Love the lancer in this game. And seems to be less ridiculous wall bouncing which is good imo.

1 thing I’d like to see considered is adding input based matchmaking. There’s been some crazy quick turnarounds and longshots I’ve seen that seem to be fairly obvious on a mouse. I already turn off ranked crossplay but know m&k is supported now. Highly doubt that would add much time to matchmaking maybe a few seconds at most.

Please don’t cave to the online minority and make everything irrelevant but the gnasher. That same minority will just complain when player base gets low again. Some variety is great and refreshing for the series and what it needs

Haven’t used this or many other forums before but I just wanted to do my part for the Beta Testing of Gears 5. After a match I always like to revisit the scoreboard to check my k/d ratios and such. For the beta, once you’re shown the board and it goes away (after a very short amount of time) you can’t seem to bring it up. It would be nice to be able to view that for longer. Maybe I’m nitpicking but hey! Also not sure if this really qualifies as a bug or feedback but I found with the kill replay, a lot of the time it seemed way off. I know sometimes this can be due to individual connections with the server but I just wanted to mention it incase. For instance in the replay it looked like the player wasn’t shooting anywhere near me and I just fell to pieces. The only other things I noticed were that at different points while playing, the slide to cover completely betrayed me. There was a closer wall that I’d intended on sticking to and it pulled me to a totally different wall which ended up getting me killed… a few times. Lastly the issue I experienced was with matchmaking. The other team had players with varying levels between 15 and 80 and my team was made up of players under level 20. Needless to say we got demolished and that can take all the fun out of the game. Anyway that’s all I have at the moment. Hope it’s helpful and I want to say thanks for opening up the beta to all gold members. I still pre order my games at my local EB Games and I don’t have game pass but I have played every single Gears for an extended period of time and I’ve played any and all of the betas I could gain access to. So i was very happy to be able to partake. Thanks again!

Game seems to be an improvement in most fields in many aspects

Cover systems seems to flow more natural and no longer gives advantage to someone who can just spam the cover button in a small area without actually requiring any true effort

Assault rifles may be a bit too accurate and powerful in its current standpoint but it’s a step in the right direction to stop the game from being almost 100% shotguns only except with coordinated team play

Melee also may need a slight nerf as the melee now comes with little to no risk and can sometimes just be better than actually trying to fire your weapon

One change would be to make both the swarm and cog have the exact same load outs in arcade
Such as the JD vs Swarm Drone not having the Same pistols makes the gameplay (however slightly) different depending on what team you have

Also the shock grenade only costing 2 eliminations in arcade may be a bit too op as if you choose to you can continue to spam shocks at enemies continually getting assist eliminations giving you more and more shocks to just cover the map (maybe 3 eliminations at least?)

Also I personally have had very little experience with it but it seems that the cryo thrower is pretty much useless and is also a punishment for choosing the 6 cost random weapon

Any way super excited for the release date, hope the full game is as great as the test has been and keep doing great.

Good day the game is great i love it ! Butbim from south africa and we are unable to find ranked games … I search 10min+ and cant find a game … There are alot of us in south africa that play and nobody can find games … The arcade is fun but its not the true gears experience and i feel like i didnt get to enjoy the game fully … Please fix this issue when the full game comes out because there are plenty die hard gears fans here that would love to have a full experience ! Overall good game i really love it but please think about us when making changes

So here are some things to think about improving before the retail version comes out.

  1. The Talon Auto pistol has too much recoil. Maybe turn that down a bit. Just tapping the trigger once will send the pistol halfway up the screen. Also a slight damage increase might help as well. Boltok could also use a damage increase.
  2. Gnasher is still doing random damage. It feels more accurate then previous games but the damage still feels random. The hit markers that appear on your opponent really make this stand out when you see that all of them hit the chest and face area but they live and barely hit you and you instant die and the game says “You did 89% damage” and the kill cam shows that they barely hit you.
  3. Arcade mode needs balance. There have been many times where you can get screwed over because an entire team plays as the snipers and just keep spawning the long shot. It really sucks on the training grounds map(that map sucks by the way) because you can’t get up there to them because they can cover all ways up to the top on three areas of the map. Maybe character caps. You have five team mates and 5 characters maybe limit one character per person in arcade. This works in Overwatch. Or increase the recoil on the long shot.
  4. The A.I. is the dumbest ever. I know the A.I. is supposed to just be filler for when players drop but please do something about their intelligence. When a bot downs someone and then just stands there and watches them get up and do nothing or just stand still like they are frozen for some reason it can really screw you over in team death match.
  5. Reduce the movement speed of the characters a bit. If the point is to make the rifles more accurate then people should not be able to stand in one hallway and dodge bullets like its the matrix. This wasn’t a huge issue in Gears 2 because you couldn’t cancel a slide into a wall until you hit it. Ever since Gears 3 people can seemingly bounce on invisible walls and dodge bullets. The majority of us don’t want to be punished for not being MLGers with fancy tricks and stuff. Gears 2 actually had the best balance of movement speed in the series.
  6. Grenades are taking too long to go off. Smoke and flashbangs are ok but frags and fire grenades are taking a few seconds too long especially when you tag an opponent with them.
  7. Lastly the melee combat needs work. Sometimes the hits don’t feel like they register, it isn’t accurate, and it is hard to execute someone when you start to hold the melee button down and then it just kicks them instead of executions.
  8. Bonus option. Make it an option to not have to play with PC gamer’s in all modes not just ranked. Consoles and PC’s were never meant to play together and every time someone in the lobby is on PC it always creates issues such as increased lag, modding, aim bots, and uneven game play. It may make the search time longer but having the option to not play with PC gamer’s would be great all around.

I don’t seem to have a problem with the game and the mechanics.

First of all, when you reload with a full clip the ammo should be lost !

The beta is great me and my friends r beasting on it and the breaker mace is just fun to play with and has already saved my soul, but there r a couple things that need to and could be fixed before September

  1. The lancer needs to do a little more damage in ranked, it feels so meaningless when im shooting someone with 10 shots of my magazine and they dont die because they hit me with one shot of the gnasher, i know many people dont want them to be buffed damage wise but if they dont want them to be buffed because it would ruin their shotgun rush gameplay then either take off the lancer from ranked or buff it because it is useless,

  2. Grenades, everyone has talked about it so im not even gonna say wat it is so yeah

3.the omen needs to be changed to where it doesnt feel so blinding when im shot, it really gets in the way of gameplay

Aside from that the game has been an absolute blast

I’ve played a quite a few matches now.

I echo the comments from some of the other players.

The good:
The visuals are nice, looks really good, but then Gears 4 looked really good too!

The bad:
The player movement just feels wrong, nothing like a Gears game should. The players are slow and clunky. The movement is not very fluid, like it was in Gears 4 and remapping of melee just makes vaulting at speed difficult, I sometimes use my knife as I try to vault any cover, slowing me down.
I hope the movement can be made to match Gears 4 and give us the option to map the buttons like they are on Gears 4.

Also, the sounds. They just don’t sound as good as in Gears 4, and the spatial placement needs tweaking. I use a virtual surround headset and in Gears 4 you could, with some accuracy, listen and place which direction players are coming from. It just doesn’t seem as accurate as Gears 4.

What I’m saying is, Gears 4 is a better game… sorry! Hopefully the tech test is just an old build and all of these issues have been fixed.

I appreciate that your job as a developer is difficult and you can’t please everyone, and that you now need to out your own mark on the Gears franchise. Keep up the hard work!

Would ya please strongly consider putting back tournament alt settings. I never played classic and it feel completely different hitting walls in ways I’m not trying to is very frustrating and I feel like I’m not playing my full potential even tho I am enjoying the game cause I’m a fan but I feel it can be alot a better

shotgun goes off on my screen, but on the kill cam nowhere to be seen… got video proof will be uploading all this in the main forum dont lock my posts and move them to any other feedback thread or anything makes zero sense why you do that because thats there so you guys can see that people support all the problems ive been reporting in this thread and the bug feedback thread… they need to be outthere getting views and support and comments… stop locking progressive criticsm from your players they should vote for every aspect of the game…

First off i would like to say that some of the guns do way too much damage and need to be Nerfed or tuned a bit lower.

  • Second the snub pistols rate of fire needs to be increased because compared to gear 4 it feels so slow.

  • Third the Movement overall needs a complete overhaul, you aren’t able to wall bounce and when you take cover and another teammate is near you there is a slight delay that doesn’t allow you to pull off cover (i guess this is to combat wallbouncing) However alot of people i have played with are dissatisfied with the wallbounce cooldown.

-Do NOT REMOVE WALLBOUNCE it downgrade the skill gap of the game.

Overall or in short it needs a few adjustments with the power of guns and movement.
