Exactly! It is their way of implementing only one tuning but still having core and comp.

I think they should just make the game straight up and have esca 2.0 have its changes if they are deemed to fit the mode just like Arcade has its own things. For example, in esca 2.0 the gnasher can start with 6 shots and be upgradable but it doesn’t absolutely have to be 6 shots for all other game modes.

Creating new “core” and "comp’ by aim-assist is a mistake, especially since the aim-assist is too much.

The lancer is a problem for me in gears 5. The accuracy is off and the recoil is bad. But the damage is worse, I am playing on ranked and hit all my shots and I get 9 hits and only doing 50% percent damage. I feel like the lancer is getting worse every year and needs improvement. If you are gonna make the accuracy and recoil that bad at least improve the damage.

TC have made changes they have deemed necessary to have only one weapon tuning - 6 shot gnasher, new reload system, movement nerfs, recoil, etc.

In Gears 5 “core” and “comp” are about aim-assist. In Gears 4, I believe there was minimal aim-assist in core and barely any if at all in comp. Here is Gears 5, it looks like they are using it to differentiate the experience between core and comp.

Aim-assist needs to be toned down or removed from ranked, I’m of the mindset that all ranked is competitive and if anything then such aim-assist should be left for social. It doesn’t have to get completely removed but it definitely has to be toned down.

The gnasher gets you kills that you shouldn’t get, almost like the old backpack kills. It is like it was designed to be noob-friendly or tested by first timers. The gnasher tuning is amazing but the aim-assist is the problem.

As for the lancer, it was like a magnet to the opponent. I felt like I had stick drift by how much the lancer followed the opponent’s movements.

This is part of a bigger dynamic in the game. It isn’t as simple as turning on or off the aim-assist. Let me explain:

Some of the changes they have made are not an absolute necessity in order to have one weapon tuning. Some of these changes could have honestly just been made to escalation 2.0 as it is its own mode, kinda like arcade has unique features.

For example, the gnasher could have 8 shots and get plus 4 with a normal reload in all game modes except escalation. That would create a bigger difference between modes? Yes, but in escalation the gnasher could be upgraded from 6/3 to 8/4 just like other weapons can be upgraded in escalation. And, i mean, you can place a dropshot in your own side of the map in esca so…it is a different mode just like arcade.

I think that is logical and I’d like to see it at least tested because the 6/3 gnasher is skillful in escalation but I feel like myself and others in the community find it more annoying and more of a hindrance than a skillful change for a game mode like KOTH. Imagine going through the opponents only to have to reload once again and not being able to kill the leader in Guardian. The community may adjust or maybe not.

But i would not like to see no recoil in core but have recoil in comp. That wouldn’t be a logical change as it would be a major change between modes. Does TC feel that the gnasher tuning would become op with an 8/4 system? Fair enough.

The limited ammo, recoil and such come into the game because they fit perfectly with escalation and they created the tuning around escalation/esports. That single game mode already dictated some maps for Gears 4 (hello, forge blitz) and it is doing its rounds here in Gears 5. Fair enough I guess as it is seen as the premier game mode of the franchise by TC.

This is just an example of the new dynamic between core and comp going forward. Just one of the discussions between core and comp without changing the actual tuning of the weapons. However, I understand that tuning of weapons goes beyond just damage and range.

But to have aim-assist create the new “core” and “comp” is a mistake. They have said they are looking into adding a personal option to disable aim-assist in “core” so you can always practice with it off.

That personal option is neat but I don’t see any koth/tdm/guardian players turning it off to handicap themselves if they are seriously playing to win. Maybe it will be a matter of feel seeing how the core aim-assist is too much, heck it might throw off comp players.

Going forward, if they make a change here or there it doesn’t have to affect the whole game. It doesn’t mean it would create the hated core and comp dynamic from Gears 4. There are already major differences between arcade, koth, and esca, which are the three modes used to showcase the game to the world.

Do the best for each experience. Bot-backfilling in koth but not tdm? Could work. A dropshot on your side of the map is fine in esca. Different movement and weapons in arcade are fine in arcade. One thing doesn’t have to drag another thing with it.

Heck, I’ve seen plenty of people that think the entire game is like arcade and they love it or hate it.

There can be a core and comp dynamic, there will be one but it should’t go by training wheels. There are still going to be “core kids” and “comp gods” lol. Bottom line, creating the new “core” and "comp’ by aim-assist is a mistake, especially since the aim-assist is too much. If it’s gonna be like that, might as well and remove recoil from core…and that is not what anybody wants.

TC… you need to heed the warnings on this forum. Fix the inverse omen. You’re going to lose so many players because of this. It’s so insanely ridiculous.

This was the WHOLE POINT of the original omen, and having blood build up on your character. It’s the same reason Dead Space has your hud built into your suit. They wanted to increase immersion and decrease an obscure hud. Your new omen, spits in the face of everything that Gears stands for.

You need to stop ■■■■■■■■■■■■ and fix it. Seriously. The inverse omen is BAD.

If you release this game with that trash ■■■ omen, you’re going to be screwed. Don’t do it.

Stop trying to make Gears of Duty. If you didn’t want to make Gears, you shouldn’t have signed that contract with Microsoft.

You’re making Gears. So make Gears.

I think the difference is its 8 bullets to the head in Gears 5, in Gears 4 its like 16 bullets to the body (Core tuning). Although i find it a lot more accurate it does get some kick after shooting for a while. As much as everyone is saying how OP the Lancer is there is still a big skill gap. Not everyone is accurate enough to hit all headshots. I love the new Lancer, but I love the Gnasher more :heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes:.

Its like a BB gun if shooting the body in Gears 5.

They were created by Microsoft.

I prefer the classic aiming reticles, especially for the sniper, would be nice if there were at least an option for that.

Arcade mode would be better for me if certain characters weren’t forced into specific starter loadouts. I dont mind them having unique weapons to unlock with kill points, but I think the starter loadout should be customizable. Mostly I’m just saying, I have always disliked burst fire weapons, so classes that started with the hammerburst I avoided, even though I liked the weapons they could unlock.

I would enjoy having a competitive mode that isn’t a capture point mode.

Overall the movement felt good, the guns shot well, everything felt “right,” however I wasn’t a fan of the new aiming reticles, and the game modes available in the beta weren’t enjoyable enough to me to keep me playing.

Jeez guys if you dont like the game then cancel your preorder…

So I’m just thinking of all the little ways that make gears versus, gears versus. And so far in the first tech test I was kinda let down by a few things. Let me know if you felt the same way or your honest thoughts and opinions.

  1. Holding RB to rev your chainsaw bayonet.

I had a tough time to say the least. Between it reloading and jamming to it just not even responding when I held RB. If TC wants to keep it fine. As gamers we adapt, BUT if we could simply have the option to change how we rev our chain saw to a “classic” button layout then I think you’ll please vast amounts of people. Sometimes you need your chainsaw as a last resort immediately to stay alive or for the round.

  1. Not seeing the points pop up slightly off center screen when you kill, down or execute someone.

When I see 50 points fly up I know without a shadow of doubt I downed my opponent. I actually got the kill without looking on the kill feed. It’s just appreciated to confirm I’ve downed them. Or got the assist point knowing that someone else cleaned that person up.

  1. No curb stop readily available from the starting line up of executions.

It’s one of my all time favorite and still do it when I can. It’s very simple and gets a little bit of disrespect in. Should just be able to tap Y button and their it is. I know TC said it will PROBABLY add it on later. We will see.

From here it’s just something I would like to see added in the game. If TC is reading thank you. Please at least consider my ideas. Thanks.

  1. Different meatsheild executions

I’ve always wanted to drop some one to their knees and blow their brains out with the boltok Maria style (Too soon?) Even make that an alternative boltok execution would be dope. Short and sweet! Even whilst holding MS getting brain matter on your character would be EPIC.

  1. The quick execution with the gnasher as gears 2 had it.

I know we have the HR one but if you tap B with gnasher equipped then he should just “whoops” swing that bad boy one good time and see grub skull rolling. This is not a big deal but a cool touch gear vets to be like “I REMEMBER THAT!”

Btw. im sure someone has said this already but ill say it just in case. When gears 5 comes around during ranked matches, there should be an algorithm that adjusts how much your ranked percentage rises or falls if you are out manned. For example if one person on your team quits you should lose less rank if you lose because its a 4v5. if 2 people quit you should loose even less or none at all. but if you manage to secure a win while out manned you should gain more rank percentage because if this… it should also multiply depending on how many players you are out manned by. like more rank for beating a team 3v5. so pretty much some sort of bonus. if you are on the team that has the extra players a win should still rank you up but it should be a little less because it was an unfair win. or maybe it doesnt change at all because its not your fault they other payer quit. idk just a thought.

Im not sure if a system like this is already in place but if its not, i think it would be a great addition the the game.

just got on gears tech test and already seeing problems like the server queue, i thought they fixed that already this test is basically a remaster of the first one.

It is in place, but the game cant re-calculate until the following round apparently.

I hope the actual game is nothing like the tech test because it ■■■■■■■ blows. The gnasher is ■■■■■■■ garbage, the lancer is stupidly ■■■■■■■ overpowered, the movement and gameplay feels like you’re in slow motion. I have never been more disappointed in Gears of War… my favorite ■■■■■■■ game ruined because the creators are trying to make the game easier to play for kids who suck at the game. Idk why they didn’t just make a better version of Gears 4, it was perfection. Fix your ■■■■ Gears and stopping trying to make this game something that it’s not.

FIX the f*cking Grenades PLEASE. Theres no reason I should hear them loud and clear when Im across the map from them yet dont hear 1 beep when they go off around me

If your gonna add bots to Ranked for the tech test at least make them Hardcore. In 2 rounds the bot got 1 kill

Apparently it doesnt know how to play the Objective either. Must be based on @l_l_C_L_O_W_N_l ‘s gameplay.

I dont care if its not playing the objective. At least TC could put the bots on hardcore so they’re not just walking around the whole game
