Gears 5 Tech Test - Official Feedback Thread

Hey there!
I’m struggled with the new key layout of Gears 5, so can you guys add a controller profile just like the original one on all the gears of war games? When I want to activate chain saw I always press B instead of RB, this is quiet annoying…

I have it, by many, many unreliable sources, that you’d be more than willing to throw cash at anything TC put up in their store.

All I wanna say is I’m TIRED of seeing the “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” line. If that were the case we’d all still be playing Gears 1. Things need to change. Us old Gears heads aren’t enough to support this franchise anymore.

What were you playing on? The audio is awful

Aaron Griffin, yes.

Yeah man. They need to appeal to the Fortnite/PUBG crowds now. I honestly do believe they will have a BR mode eventually added to Gears 5 as an update or flat out in Gears 6.

Hopefully the BR crazy will die out. Fingers crossed

Have you tried taking cover? It’s pretty useful. The lancer was literally useless in 4, that’s why NO ONE used it, maybe if you stopped running head first like a dumbo you wouldnt die to ot so easily. Its actually in a solid spot. Better than comp tuning in 4 but worse than the casual tuning in 4

That’s foolish to view that line in absolute terms. Technological advancements, dedicated servers, graphical updates, new/more maps, game play IMPROVEMENTS, all foster subsequent titles. Gears 1 and 2 were great in terms of style of play, but the host advantage was ridiculous. Actually maintaining all the facets that made those games so enjoyable while then adding the aforementioned variables should be the goal for the devs, instead their throwing a bunch of ■■■■ on the wall and seeing what sticks.

Well after a few games now I’ve noticed the it’s less sticky the moment on rank than AS on competitive you can move better on AS is hard to move around I can see why everyone having a problem with the moment being sticky for some. Also just want to point out I think they should tone down the wall cancel big time every I go on matches even on rank there’s loads of wall bouncer just abusing it to much in game, I can’t enjoy much of the game cus of it so I reckon wall bouncing should be a lot slower for newer players to catch them off guard.

Slow down the wall bouncing? LOL WHAT!? Wall bouncing is the slowest it’s ever been in the current gen of Gears are you kidding me?? It’s basically useless when coupled with the shotgun delays and choppy movements so I can’t fathom the style of player who would write this.

What I meant by that was that if nothing was ever changed we’d be playing a Gears 1 style game with all that you mentioned not literally playing Gears 1. Every Gears game brought something new and different.

That’s for the emotes - the thumbs up you can do among other animations as well as making your character speak.

The " Overkill " from long distance is totally no sense.

No. Just simply NO. If you have a problem with it learn to wall bounce. Its been around since the begining. Go into private/ai vs bots and learn

Old head here, just wanted to give you guys my feedback.
To start, the more I played, the more I loved the voice lines and the communication between characters.
I like the idea of timers on power weapons and I like the new hit markers.
The movement feels clean and smooth. I was rolling less but I feel this came at a cost of it being overall more restrictive.
Gears 4 movement felt too loose and sometimes awkward. This is a good start imo.
Some of the reticles are odd and this idea seemed unnecessary. Maybe give us the option to change reticles?
Arcade was refreshing but not competitive enough for me.
I like the idea of moving from active reloads but I dont like how little of ammo you get if you don’t perfect active reload. Maybe find a better happy-medium?
Overall I had fun and I look forward to 5.

People are mostly about the gnasher as op weapon on gears 5 at the moment but really it’s fine to me so far but the issue for me is the hyper bouncers they abuse the moment too much in gears 4 now that’s why no new player go on it as much cus of them with gears 5 it’s not going to make a difference unless you patch the bouncing to the point where it’s easy to kill them. I’ve been playing gears for a while so I haven’t got much of a problem with them. But the idea of being new people in is needed if there going to bring them in. So yeah wall canceling should be toned down for the try hards & that way it will be enjoyable in the future.

All I hear is a baby crying because it’s no longer THE EASIEST THING IN THE WORLD to bounce up on someone, and now it takes a slight bit of skill, on knowing when you can push and if you should. The lancer was literally useless in 4 (comp tuning). Making it better was a must. The whole point if having a gun is being able to kill with it, if you cant get into cover before you’re dead, maybe you shouldn’t have been there?

Gears 5 is an interesting concept, for someone like me who played gears1,2 and 3 i enjoyed the 'Test. Not played gears for a few years so it was kind of fresh after playing The Division for a while. Few things I didn’t like Map design, (fighting around blue boxes, zero atmosphere) colour pallet, gnasher ttk to fast, Omen all over the screen is a very bad idea. Thanks for the test I will wait and see how it turns out, hopefully good, be nice to play Gears again.

Yeah… the beginning. Right. Did you even play 1? And I’m not talking the ultimate edition remake
