As constructive as possible.

The omen is terrible. I get 1 bullet and my screen is full red. It’s AWEFUL!!! Seriously. Change that ■■■■. It is terrible.

Ping is still stupid. Even in the tech test I’m paired up against el this and de that. I live in central US with 200 down and 50 up and ~15 ping. Can you NOT put me in games with foreigners that have 150-200+ ping? How hard is that?

The input lag for wall bouncing is horrible. It’s really bad.

Kill cams are stupid. First because they don’t even show what happens. I can throw a smoke. Run in and lancer to where I think the guy is, and I die. And on the kill cam, there literally NO smoke on his screen and he’s hitting me 100% missing no bullets because smoke doesn’t register for him.

I keep running to walls and hitting up B to mantle over on people and it just takes cover and my character sits there like an idiot and gets 1 shotted because your game doesn’t register my inputs.

Holding up and pressing A to come off a corner and immediately pulling the trigger does NOTHING most of the time. I don’t shoot and just walk into a shot like an idiot. And then when I respawn I hit a corner and do the same maneuver that I just tried and died from like an ■■■■■■■ and it works. Shot comes out.

And some times I run at some one. Pop up. Pull the trigger. Nothing comes out. Then I die. And In the kill cam it shows me standing there like an idiot doing nothing acting like I’m stupid and then I die. Never shooting.

Your game is severely broken.

Fix this trash.

You seem to have the same philosophy with gears 5 that you did with 4. A ~250 ping is fair game. You really need to stop with that ■■■■. I realize that according to you Gears 4 did better than every other game. And maybe it did. Numbers wise. But that’s only because all the Mexicans swarmed your game and exploited your ■■■■■■ net code to gain an advantage and destroy people who have good internet. And you’re doing it again.

If all you wanted to do was sell gears to Mexicans, just release the damn game in Mexico.

If you want to make a good game, stop catering to EVERY Tom ■■■■ and Harry that might buy the game on a whim and actually make a game worth playing. Your taking on of the greatest franchises in history and casualizing it to the point that no one wants to play your damn game but the laggy people who get added benefits from their ■■■■■■ connection.

It’s not that hard. gears 1, of your connection sucked, you died. 2. If your connection sucked, you died. 3. Your connection sucked, you died.

It wasn’t til you took this franchise over that all of a sudden everyone and their brother with dial up could connect and destroy anyone on a gigabit connection with AOL from 1998.

What’s your deal? Do you even want people to play your game?

Aim Assist needs to be reduce drastically or disabled permanently. This isn’t Fortnite. There is no reason for Aim Assist to be present within a battle arena. After watching Kill Cams of this version of Aim Assist being utilized, I realize that it will line up on opponents even when the shooter isn’t even aiming at them or the opponent is out not in my line of sight. This is unnecessary for a Gears game.

The enforcer is to strong.

Well im sure many gears 1 fans would argue that! But ive been playing ranked now and loving the game!

And I see where youre coming from. Yes the lancer was unique and the face of the game youre absolutely right. But I highly doubt that is what made the game as popular as it was back in the day and is the reasoning of why this game is as popular as it is

Soo… Escalation now makes no sense and literally should’ve been left the same as 4 since there was nothing wrong with it.

And my other main gripe at the moment has been touch upon by many already and that’s the RB to chainsaw, just put it back to B and pretend you never changed it :slight_smile:

Overall experience:

Escelation is confusing, worst player in the game 9 and 21 deaths had no idea what was going on with weapon vote cancels etc lol. Just confused the whole time. Multiple times I shot on my screen nothing show on kill cam. Had a teamate screaming at me no hit retical no shot fire earlier. Whatever, could not get the timing down. The voting just confused the hell out of me. I get it be pro or dont play. Enjoy pros.

Koth: it’s hard as hell to get the gnasher going. Lot of lag. Like alot of frame skips dudes teleporting. The maps are hard to lock down ring. Was fun to use that bazooka lancer that was pretty funny. The movement is awful and clunky. I seen people moving fast. I just dont get it. Liked 4s movement alot better. There’s always a dude camping. Gnasher doesnt have that now I’m in the zone feel. Doesnt even work half the time. Cannot figure the timing out.

Arcade: ahhhhhh thanks for the skins but no thanks. Helped get me acquainted with talon I’ll give it that. That things recoils insane.

I’ve seen kill cams with no recoil on guns. I cannot figure that out. Tried alot of different control sensitivitys and the recoils too much for me. Some people just snap to head shots. Not sure how to do that. Its hard as hell to control those guns. Spitfire with wildfire on is more controllable than that talon lol.

Big thing with recoil is cod offers grip and stock in your loadout if that’s the new thing. Theres always mods but some of us play honest fyi. This game offers nothing to get it under control.

The movement no thanks. 4 when it had population and tech maintenance had wayyyyyy bettermovement. You could bounce get in the groove and tap in. This I feel like I’m fighting the dude to move half the time.

Theres a ton of glitches dudes teleporting downed, head shotted with no bullet contact. Dude have to be forced to wall then no follow up input even though entered. The list goes on and on.

That knife is dumb af. I see no point at all in that. I’m not sure gears needed that. Jump feature next I guess.

Do not like the eliminations over kills. 4s scoreboard was just fine. Assists and all.

Do not care how many are playing gears. My squad displayed is fine.

Red omens is kinda nuts. Not sure if I’m dead or world is ending but I’m still alive. Old one was fine.

Flashbang flat out doesnt effect people half the time. Pointless utility. If you’re gonna put something like that in how about an enemy stunned indicator?

Maps are small. Like real small. It was cool to see a dilapidated house of sovereigns in the back. That made me smile and think back a bit.

Dont know why chainsaw battle is that button complicated.

I’ve played since gears 1 in college and this is just not for me. I’m not sure what it feels like but its rough. The games most of the time i played against sweats. It was rough lol. Some people are good but the stacks man holy crap. Guess they figured it out. I dunno I played for fun not stress. This was not my idea of fun. Pre order canceled happy it’s on game pass. 4 had good movement. This, blah.

Gears was a cover based system. If cover doesnt work then why are there so many boxes and walls. I just dont get this game. It’s not like the old ones. Even 4 in all its mess, you had a box to think of your approach on and work the ring with lancer etc. This theres so many hallways and alleys you’re dead before you can blink.

I play cod all the time and didnt care for this btw. Not sure why people say it’s for cod players. Cods more fun than this.

The Enforcer is to strong and Arcade mode should be 100 kills.

shotgun is way too weak, i have to get way to close to actually get a kill, make it stronger plx

• Movement feels slowed down and clunky. There appear to be longer delays after some movements, such as roadie running, before you can fire a Gnasher.
• Gnasher ammo has been reduced to six shells which is simply not enough.
• The timings for all active reloads have been changed and the bar appears to move slower than previously.
• The inverse omen damage indicator often just blocks everything that is going on around you.
• The knew melee was an unnecessary change and remapping the chainsaw button has caused a lot of headache.
• The toggle setup for the scoreboard and map display cause constant headache.
• The Kill Camera was an unnecessary addition and should always have a setting to be skipped permanently.
• Remapped execution buttons need to be reverted. Also unacceptable absence of the curb stomp.
• Downing and kill feedback can be tougher to interpret than it should be.
• Overall weapon balancing favors rifles even more than previously.
• SERVERS.

Ultimately, the game appears to be geared too heavily towards new players with movement and ammo nerfs to the Gnasher. There are several instances of changes that were made for no particular reason. This isn’t a new game, it’s the seventh iteration for god’s sake. If things aren’t broke, don’t fix them. There is no reason to spread your “artistic creativity” on aspects of the game that at this point are commonplace or even pillars of the series.

OS: Windows PC

Game is great so far.

Minor Issues:

  • When voting for a map, other votes do not show in real-time
  • Kicked from server twice in one hour of play, the first via a time out
  • Connection was lost to Microsoft entirely, so no report was able to be sent and the error code stated that this was the case

Game Play Suggestions:

  • Explain chainsaw battle mechanics to new players. There is more to it than mashing I think and it is not obvious.
  • Shorten vote period if possible, to help keep the heat between matches
  • Cover system could be a little more sticky. Sometimes it is too easy to stand up when trying to go around a corner. To be honest, this is acquired with skill but I feel for the newer players
  • Special weapon indicators held by enemy players lack a little depth in their marked location. We shouldn’t mark out the players that have them but perhaps a meters/feet indicator as well.
  • Increase the zoom for pistols, but lower turning speed

Other than that, great game guys. Really gets you hooked in for a good number of matches. I imaging cosmetics will be a hit due to the ability to contrast other players and the MVP match outro. Cannot wait for the story though, the new voices as the overlords tell you that you are winning or losing are great and hint at a nice story.

Wallbouncing is horrendously useless, slow, long cancel, horrible range. Might as well just make the Increased Cover Slide perk version of wallbouncing in Arcade be the default for all modes. With slightly less range and without that godawful delay that’s in Arcade. The movement and bouncing in Ranked being incredibly slow and useless is only amplified by the fact that shots clip you through cover consistently, not sure if that’s a lag thing or if it’s just how they implemented the new cover system. It feels all but useless in any Gnasher engagement, even more so than in gears 4.

The Gnasher is essentially always a 2 shot down guaranteed with a huge and forgiving spread. The damage and range is like Gears 4 Core on steroids. Gnasher needs a range nerf/ more damage drop off and rifles need their damage toned downed with a magazine buff. Rifles where always meant for cover fire and cross engagements, making them this strong makes the entire game bend down and cater to the crossing META even more.

The flow of gameplay just turns into long range cross engagements, this used to be okay back when rifles didn’t down in half a second with sloppy aim.
CQB are pretty much dead when everyone gets full red from a shotty shot a mile away. 90% of 1v1 Gnasher engagements with competent players boil down to 2 out comes,

  1. someone sponges a shot just out of the incredibly short gib range and then gibs the other guy
  2. whoever shoots 1st actually wins now because everyone downs each other in 2 shots at any range, just outside the incredibly short gib range, and cover is pretty useless half the time, now that your spread is huge and it’s so easy to clip people through cover.
    gib range needs to be increased or they need to add 1 shot downs for that range just outside of gib range to stop this ridiculous sponging
    Gansher just needs a straight up range nerf so ranged shotty battles aren’t so predictable

Inverse Omen is actual aids, it had the exact opposite effect they desired. It covers up and gets in the way, way more than the original omen did. Just another aspect that shows they’re catering to rifle cross engagements now.

The audio too, feels incredibly aids. things that are going on across the map will generally sound the same as things going on 5 feet from you.

I thought Core was always garbage in Gears 4, and comp tuning use to be alright until around a year ago when TC went full ■■■■■■ and buffed the Gnasher and Lancer in Comp to be almost as strong as Cores. It’s pretty sad, honestly, It’s like TC just cannot figure out what they want while also catering to E sports kiddies and casuals. They are now making the same mistakes that they already solved back in Gears 4. Gears 4 comp tuning was at it’s best when the Lancer did ■■■■ all damage and was mainly for support fire during crossing, and the Gnasher had ■■■■ all range but was still incredibly good at close range with a consistent gib and low downing rate.
Seeing as how the bouncing is even more useless than 4’s, essentially removing all depth from gnasher battles, and the tuning is getting even closer to 4’s Core, then I can tell that they have no intention of returning this series to be anywhere near Gears 3’s level of FUN. It happens when Devs chase Competitive E sports and over balance everything to try and make “everyone” happy. Sad to see them continue to make Gears more and more casual, even in ranked modes.
Ironically TC believe the game is being made more competitive and has a higher skill ceiling.

Sad to see Gears of war’s development follow the same soulless route as Halo’s.

Please let Mouse 4 be used as “back” for menus like it does in Windows. I really hate reaching all the way to ESC just to go back a screen.

not that close range to where it becomes a sawed off, that long freaking barrel on that shotgun and you mean to tell me its range is two feet?.. come on now…

You are crazy you can 1 shot every single person no matter where you aim as long as they are in within slight distance.

Big Gears of war fan… gears of war 1 shotgun battles were amazing and addicting just like gears of war 4 but honestly I’m not happy with this gears of war 5 tech test. the movement is so clunky and slow… I hate it… i stopped playing the tech test because I’m annoyed by it… I really hope this gets fixed. Because I’m at the point of just cancelling my pre-order and sticking with gears 4. Its that annoying !! Please make this game right for your fans… not just for new comers. Thank you

When playing Ranked, if you switch your Snub Nose skin to the Tester Skin it will disable the use of the Snub Nose pistol from being customized in the menus and also disable the ability to be used in game.
Note: It will appear that the User has a second Lancer, but it cannot be used.

  • How can i deactivate the annoying voices of niles, jinn during rounds?

  • How can i execute with a meatshield on PC? i tried every button no success

  • Lancer Chainsaw is now on key “R” but in a fight you have to smash the “F” key, so it should be at least also be on the “R” button, or better change chainsaw back to “F”

  • Please let us change the bleeding graphic effect it activates my epilepsy. The Gears 4 one was way better.

After getting to experience level 50 in gears 5, and then finally going back to gears 4 just to compare the difference.

I personally like gears 4 better.

Gears 5 feels blocky, delayed, and needs lots of work to be at the same level as gears 4.

I’m actually shocked to say that, as I bash gears 4 pretty hard as I’ve always liked gears 1 style of playing a lot more.

My first KOTH game back to gears 4 felt the way gears was meant to be played…

Not too happy with this tech test trial run I had…

Yes, level 50 experience. I put in time, and I’m not happy with this gears 5 feeling.

Here’s a few things I’ll say I like/don’t like:

  • I actually do like the hit markers - I’m a big cover support player, so I have my lancer out A LOT (even at close range - some games I get 50+ downs). In terms of “is it fair”, well from a lancering stand point it’s awesome, but being on the receiving end of it, I think it’s cheap. (Having the red reticle in gears 4 is enough of an indicator the enemy is in your crosshair.)

  • Even though the game feels blocky, there are some areas where it feels smoother. The melees feel a lot smoother, and the active reloads.

  • I like the ability to melee even while holding the lancer. Allows you to at least protect yourself a bit!

  • The actual movement at times is smoother, but at other times it is really blocky. Even trying to hop over barriers quickly sometimes doesn’t work, as it feels too delayed.

  • I don’t like how the lancer has less ammo. By the time you put the opponent down, there’s barely any ammo left to finish them off.

  • I’ve received A LOT of 96% 1 hits, where I SHOULD of bodied, yet the opponent who was late gets to fire that quick second later, therefore gets the body on me. (A lot of 94% 2 hits, too.)

  • The whole elimination idea is kind of skewed. There’s games I get 70+ kills just because I put in tons of lancer cover fire. I understand it helps the team, but it really makes me look like I’m doing more work than I actually am lol.

  • I also like the new crosshairs when it comes to the lancer, being able to focus more on headshots, but truthfully, in ranked, the headshots really didn’t feel to give me any advantage over the body shots to put an opponent down.

  • The pistol has a really slow blocky feel to it when hard aiming, however the shot feels pretty powerful when shooting.

  • The pistols actual aimer feels REALLY inconsistent, especially when using a boltok. My aimer is directly on someone with no registry.

  • Not a fan of this auto aim AT ALL. It actually makes me MISS more often than not because it slows my crosshair down, and it’s hard to speed it up. (This should be gone - or at least tuned to gears 4… much more natural.)

  • In addition, the melee sometimes just misses when up close when it should be a hit!

On day two, I got fed up with the inconsistency of the gnasher and my opponent winning because of these 94% 1 hits.

I played gears of war 4, and it felt WAY smoother, WAY more natural, and again, I’m almost embarrassed to say I really like the game play and style of gears 4 now (again, I was always big on gears 1 game play.)
