So, there’s 3 things that crash the game now.

  1. The old Hard-Freeze issue that BSOD’s, which is worst than GOW4 for me, since it’s a soft-freeze in GOW4 that I can Alt-Tab out of and close the game.

  2. An error message box about the gfx card not responding. It’s happened once to me, and already happened to my friend once.

  3. The window that comes up telling you to sync your data. It usually comes up when I’m in menus and doesn’t cause anything to happen. It happened just now in an Arcade game though, and I hit the sync button and it closed the game.

This things a mess so far.

Here we go again, with one of the new Gears 5 feature crashes, lol:

Hi. GTX 1070 user here, also hard freezing.

Same exact issue as gears 4. Need to hold down power button to reboot.

I’m honestly just going to build an x570 machine with AMD and call it a day. Was looking to upgrade next year anyway but might as well just do it now. Can’t take this.

Yea, I’m also on 1070. The sad part for me is that this issue is worst than GOW4, with 4 I could Alt+Tab out and close the game, cuz it was a soft-freeze for me. This game has other types of crashes too, like the one in the pic I posted just above.

On another note:

Anyone else notice the way the weapon customization is currently done in 5? It has you choose your weapon skins in one spot, and those skins are used universally by COG and Swarm. I truly hope this is just for this Tech Test, otherwise it’s a downgrade from GOW4 where you choose COG, Swarm and Horde weapon skins separately.

I was hoping they’d have custom slots for COG/Swarm, where you set the Character skin and all the emotes/weapon skins/sprays/etc in each slot for easy access to different preferences. It’s something I asked for back in 4, just to have it show up like a character card, with a custom name and you just select the new COG one and/or Swarm one you want to switch to and jump into a game.

It’s really weird, because the characters customization menu is already setup in a nice way where you set the skin/banner/emote for each character in their slot, so all they had to do is add the weapon and mark customization inside the character customization with the rest of the stuff, and they’d be done. Instead they put the Weapons and Marks separately, such weird choices.

same issue here. BSOD on a Gtx 1080 ftw. Have all the latest windows drivers and performed a DDU wipe of my driver prior to downloading the tech test. happened while sitting in the main menu between a match.

I’m having the same issues and I’m about to completely give up gears of war on the pc. The support we are getting is straight up garbage. GOW 4 never got a fix and now GOW 5 is shaping up to be the same exact bs with all the crashing and BSOD.

The game blue screened my computer twice now and I’ve only launched it that many times.
I’m getting a “dpc_watchdog_violation” error code.

this should not be happening on pc for gears 5 & better not be a repeat of gears 4 unacceptable

Same here with a gs 75 stealth with a i7 9750h & a rtx 2070… Crashes on launch when it gets into the epic logo…

Hi I was playing gears 5 and suddenly freezes(crashed) just like happen with gears 4, I have an i7 4790 + Gtx 1080 + 16GB RAM, and an SSD, please take note of this. Thanks

Havent been able to play the beta test. The computer image froze bu the sound remains. For example, music or the loading screen sounds continue but I cant even return to my desktop or open task manager, I have to reboot the PC when this happens. Same happens with Gears4

I have this issue

The game freezes, but the audio still plays in the background, can move my mouse - but the PC is hard locked. Need to hold the power button for shutdown. This is also the same exact issue I had with gears 4 crashing.
