Gears 5 Tech Test - Hard-Freezing GOW4 Style On Anyone Else? (PC)

Ok, I played a few short Social Quickplay sessions on 436.15 so far. It’s definitely better than the last driver that crashed almost instantly unless I was locked at 60 FPS. I locked the FPS at 144 and it hasn’t crashed yet, gonna test more later with some ranked KOTH or something, and try to do a longer session.

Please let it be fixed for real.

I’m in disbelief. It’s been an hour, and I haven’t crashed yet. It seems they actually found the culprit this time. I’ll keep playing, le’ts hope this is finally it.

Yea, I did another small session, still going strong. Hopefully a few more people from this thread will download the driver and report back. Another day or 2 issue-free should solidify it.

3 hours, not a single issue. I’m glad they fixed it before the 6th. Let’s just hope the fix works on Gears 5 too, but it should.

I did say a couple of days ago that it had only been a couple of years since TC / Nvidia knew about the crashing and to be patient and it will be fixed once you give them the chance.

I hope it also works on Gears 5. The difference for me is that Gears 4 is a soft-freeze that freezes the game, but not my PC. Gears 5 Tech Test was a hard-freeze that would eventually BSOD the system. I believe that’s what use to happen for me in Gears 4 in the early days of the crash.

Same behaviour for me, and I think everyone, but i’m still hoping that the culprit was the same, just a different type of crash.

There was also an issue with a Windows update that resulted in users with non default bios settings crashing in games. The fix was to revert to default settings, boot Windows, then you could put whatever bios settings you had back in.

Crashed once on me after 4hrs or so of gameplay. I also played and hour or so of the campaign. Got a app crash not a BSOD it hung and wouldn’t alt out. I’ll test more tomorrow it’s definitely a lot better than it has been.

Ah, ok, what card are you on?

“Partial Fix”

What the hell? It’s not a fix until it’s 100% fixed. Two years for this. :unamused:

So… with a week till release (5 day early access), there’s only a partial fix???

I’m still thinking if I should keep the purchase or get a refund. This sucks…

Well, to be fair, only 1 person has reported 1 crash so far on this driver. I’m just glad they’re actually getting it done. I’m still yet to crash with this driver. I have more confidence in believing what they say now also, seeing that this driver actually is way better than any recent ones.

Does suck but at least they are acknowledging it and working on it. It’s been pretty quite from both Nvidia and TC for a long time. Hopefully they are finally getting their ■■■■ together.
