I’ve updated on the latest 431.60 drivers and so far no crashing yet. The benchmark did it every time.
I still have stuttering in gameplay and the occasional freeze. But no crashing or lockups yet.

I’m going to try latest drivers soon.
It’ll be a ymmv thing, but gotta hope progress is being made.
I’m just interested to see if I get a performance increase.
I’ve personally had no issues in 5.
Ah right, I’m guessing not on 10 series then.
No,
20 Series.
Been lurking hard here hoping someone finds a solution that helps me. Tried everything (except from rolling back drivers and buying a new GPU, cos that’s just mad) and sadly nothing has worked. Hope it’s fixed on release this time.
Considering it’s a new game, and it’s going to Steam, and this time we know of the issue pre-release, there’s a ton of reasons for them to go a whole lot harder at working as fast as possible towards a fix.
If they do manage to get it sorted out by launch, the good part is, whatever fix it is, whether it’s some bugged code on TC’s side, or just Nvidia working out a proper driver again, or a bit of both, it should be something that can work for GOW4 also.
Is there anyone here that finds this to be the case? I personally have noticed the opposite if anything. The game has been hard-freezing nonstop. Last night 3 times in a row in the first match each time. It crashed like twice earlier. There’s definitely not been any improvements.
Seems like more damage control, more willing to let us buy a game we can’t play, rather than just be honest, and say they’re gonna work hard to get it fixed.
Yea thats a good point. I gave up trying to finish story mode back in the day and went back to it recently hoping all the issues had been sorted. Unfortunately not.
And about the tweet, I get the hard freeze with the looping sound. I also have the issue you have where the players will continue moving after youre killed just before the killcam, but changing to 60fps never fixed this for me. I had a acouple instances where I spawned and couldn’t move until someone killed me. Never seen anyone mention that issue.
High hopes for the Steam version.
No, the latest drivers did nothing at all to prevend the crashes, the exact same crash is happening like in 2016. It seems to crash even more i think, dunno everything in this game feels placebo at this point. The latest driver did gave me a good performance @fps boost.
which means nothing in the end of course for 9xx/1xxx users.

How is this even remotely something to be like acceptable of? Post a tweet when you fix the crashing completely.
I don’t even get how is this so hard for them to reproduce. Me and all my friends use Series 10 Nvidia cards, and we ALL experienced multiple crashes. Release is going to be a mess.
approximately 6 weeks to launch, and this game has the same bug as gears4. So disappointing. If I don’t see anything soon from TC about a fix I think I will be cancelling pre-order and getting a refund
Maybe a little late but I’ve been also struggling to load & run the game. Ryzen 5 3600 & GTX 1070 evga watercooled. Now every time I go to launch it instantly crashes. Hard freezes. Even sync data etc. Now funny enough I wanted to try see my specs for this game. So oddly enough I launch MSIafterburner and the game has performed perfect ever since!
Post a benchmark in the Gears 5 Benchmark Thread!
During an Escalation match I got the GW502 crash, which is a rare one for me. Then, I get the hard-freeze during the same match, after rejoining. It takes too long to reboot when this happens, regardless of skipping the BSOD by holding the power button, so I didn’t make it back into the game before it ended. All that effort in that match, wasted, though my team won apparently.
I think I’m about done with the Tech Test, and it seems clear we can’t take TC’s word on the status of the issue between now and launch, seeing as they’re willing to go on twitter and say things like:
Without showing any evidence or links to people giving this positive feedback or anything. It really sucks, I wanted that Terminator skin from playing in the first week, but I might have to wait more than a week to get proper confirmation, from 10 series gamers, that the issues are actually fixed.
I blue screen twice today before even getting into a match, and once immediately after that match. 3 BSOD’s to 1 played match.
(I know I am on a 20 series card but its still awful). For the record i have had this sytem about 6 months and the only bluescreens have been during this tech test.
With the last driver , I have decided to change the video settings on Gears 5 test . I set all to high , V-sync off and cap the frame rate to 60 fps , and the test stop to crash for me , I have try the same settings on gears of war 4 , and for me working , for now no crash on gears of war 4 also. I have a gtx 1070
I just got an email back from the Nvidia team on the memory dump I sent a few days ago. They said they filed a bug for Gears 5 and their team is looking into it right now. So, anyone that has a hold of their memory dumps, that haven’t sent them in, send them, along with ones for GOW4 if you get the BSOD there too.
Sorry for the people who do get crashes but my setup worked fine on Gears 5, EVGA 1070 Black edition, Gigabyte MB, 16gig ram, CPU 4790k @4.7ghz, 850w psu. latest NVidia driver, Ultra settings, 1440p, v-sync off, all good.
