So, it took me a while in queue just to get in. I’m playing Boot Camp fine, other than the FPS not being as good as expected, when I get a consistent 144FPS locked in GOW4. Even though I turned down most MAJOR GPU impacting features in the Gears 5 Video settings.
Anyhow, I get to the point where you grab the Gnasher in Boot Camp, and as soon as I get shot at, it just hard-freezes. In GOW4, I can Alt+Tab out when it freezes cuz of the Nvidia 10 series issue, this isn’t the case with the Gears 5 Tech Test. I let it sit there, and eventually got the BSOD and it auto-rebooted after a 0-100% check for issues.
This is extremely disappointing. I never have any issues like this with any other games. The sad part is, reverting back to driver 382.53 might not even fix the issue with Gears 5, and I wouldn’t be willing to do that anyways. They need to work on optimizing the game too, because visuals aren’t far ahead enough of GOW4 that FPS should be going all over for me like that on my card.
So now I’ll have to wait forever in queue, just for it to randomly hard-freeze on me whenever it chooses. This is so pathetic. The issue was never worked out in Gears 4, now with all the focus on 5, it still carried over and is worse. I’m really in awe that they allowed this to happen again. So much for an amazing technical team over there.
