Gears 5 Tech Test - Bug Reports

The mode “Deathmatch” in Friendly Battle:

Bug report: The button that allows you to buy weapons, (for me it is the left stick) that allows to lower against a wall is the same as the one of the purchase.
Suddenly in full motion we find ourselves to click on it, it pollutes the screen in battle. It’s conflictual.

Even during a chainsaw battle, it happens that we click on it inadvertently, it’s rather annoying. Switch on other button would be desirable

The weirdest bug just happened in KOTH.

We won round 1 on COG, then going into round 2 it shows the scoreboard and it’s 10 bots, then it does the countdown and shows the actual players, and suddenly it shows Swarm has won a round, then it repeats that all again and ends the game showing that Swarm won the last 2 rounds, even though we never got to the 2nd round. It gave an error on retrieving match info after.

Also, something that kinda bugs me, shouldn’t that “Percentile 1 - 0” say “Percentile 0 - 1”?

I do not know if there is an option or a way to set the duration of the click required for this activation. In any case I have not found

0.5 second xbox elite controller input delay on windows 10.
restart controller to fix, next life in put delay is back.

read the game FAQ. they told us about this before the first tech test.

I encountered an issue today with the announcer. At the end of a round, the announcer from over team was speaking, and a Spanish announcer was also speaking. Seemed like an issue where you had a different language going at the same time.

Don’t know how it happened

“way easier to do on PC”

Gears community: “you dont say?”
The Coalition: “Our research shows no advantage to KB/M in Gears”

How do you know which server you are being placed into?

If you check what your ping is to the data centres you can tell which one you are on by the ingame ping.

Or were you asking how to check the data centre info?

That’s pretty cool actually, I wonder if those are the actual models that register damage. As in, that is how the game remains balanced between all the varying sized characters.

I believe it is

Platform - Xbox One S with Alpha ring OS
Gears 5 Tech-Test Two
Bug Descriptions:

  • Can’t use thumbstick for the scoreboard, only the D-PAD.

  • No reloading while using TAC-COM. Unless, using it with the scoreboard on the screen, “excludes the Lancer”

  • Options doesn’t have infinite loop for selecting on, off, or type. “i.e. Right does nothing when < on > Left is the off”

  • Automatic strafing/rodee running after a weapon pickup, switching another weapon, rolling over, wall bouncing, going over barriers, getting on or off a platform, and can continue once a round stops. “Classic-ALT scheme”

  • Sometimes strafe/rodee running won’t work right away.

  • Sometimes reloading the Gnasher won’t be the correct amount of ammo.

  • Sometimes 2 Snubs appear in the choose loadout versus lobby. Choosing the other Snub will replace it with a duplicated Lancer. When the versus match begins, there is no Snub or extra Lancer ammo. Changing the loadout of the match fixes it.

  • Boot camp’s Dave can be downed by grenade tagging the DeeBee 4x. No matter how many times downed, Dave will start floating again.

Just yesterday during test at the beginning screen of the match where you can see your players fronts then the game starts my camera screen stayed in the view facing my team. When match started I couldn’t move . Then by moving the sticks I was able to move my player into the screen but, was unable to move beyond the spawn point. Thought if soneone found me in spawn and kill me that I could then play. NOPE!!! Had to leave match and my concurrent game bonus😓

Im not sure if this is a bug or if there should be more clarification on what counts as an elimination. Both of these photos i downed the enemy. And neither one credited me with an Elimination.

I cannot select a character in Arcade mode. Otherwise, I enjoy the tech test and look forward to playing Gears 5 in September.

The DBNO bug is not completely fixed; the one where you’re warped everywhere within a small space. It only happened twice this past weekend, compared to the previous times. Another issue is the occasional idling of the character models that persisted till the end of the game.
Also, not sure if this may be apart of the gaming design, while attempting to jump off a ledge and pumping my chainsaw, the task proved to be impossible.

There is an audio bug in arcade. I started the game as Marcus but pre-switched to Faz during my first life. Suddenly my emotes had Faz’s voice even though I was still playing as Marcus.

Auto weapon switches and reloads

  1. This particular glitch has been happening since Gears 4 and is still showing its ugly head. I have spoken to at least 10 friends who have all confirmed they experienced this glitch. When you have your Gnasher out and engage in a battle by clicking the trigger (or shooting button) it will automatically switch your weapon at random times. Usually it’s to a Lancer but I’ve seen it also switch to a Pistol or Smoke on rare occasion. This happened on Gears 4 with 2 controllers (Standard and Elite) on both Xbox One S, X and PC. It also happens on Mouse and Keyboard on PC. I can’t get a video to confirm this because in no way would a video prove I didn’t press the input. But I can confirm that I didn’t because I’ve even removed the D-Pad on the Elite so it’s recessed and it still happens. I have only experienced this when firing with the Gnasher - never other weapons. (Side note - On Gears 4 I actually disabled my D-Pad within the settings and my weapon still switched which proves something isn’t adding up)

  2. This is specific to the Tech Test. My character will automatically reload (although fairly rare) for no reason at all. Sometimes this happens the first time I pull the trigger other times after a few shots. I have confirmed on multiple occasions I had a full clip and not a half clip from the new reload mechanics. Again, happens to several of my friends as well on both controller and keyboard (PC and XBOX). This happened with both Auto reload enabled/Disabled so I unsure what the deal is. I am not pressing RB when it happens.

The following issues were discovered on PC:

  • After I exited matchmaking for Arcade Deathmatch lobby, I tried to join Escalation lobby. After a few seconds in matchmaking for Escalation, I was put into an Arcade Deathmatch lobby. Upon exiting the Arcade Deathmatch, it took me straight back to Escalation lobby. When I tried to exit back to main menu, it got stuck on Please wait… pop up message and I had to restart the game. This happened during the second weekend.

  • Couldn’t revive teammate at one point. The ‘X’ button prompt showed up, but I was unable to revive them and they were not able to revive themselves either. This only happened one time and during the first weekend.

  • I was unable to mantle over cover. I believe this happens if you are close enough to be touching a teammate who is also in cover next to you. This happened multiple times during both weekends.

  • Audio tearing sound every time I am returned to the main menu. This happened both weekends and did it consistently every time.

  • After firing a few shots with Markza and after I stopped tapping trigger, it kept firing by itself until clip was empty. This happened once during the second weekend.

  • Kill cam is inconsistent. The most frustrating example of this was when I saw on my side (before I died) that I just positioned myself just right and pressed the trigger and see my gun fire at range that should have been a one-hit kill with gnasher, but instead I die. And then I see on kill cam that the player somehow got behind me and one-shotted me with gnasher from behind. I think this goes back to laggy servers where what has happened on the player’s screen is not what is happening on the server. I have pretty good internet with low ping and this has been an issue since Gears 1. I don’t understand why many games don’t have this issue, but it has always been a Gears staple.

I hav e a video of it above somewhere. Depending on main starting weapon ordering you can end up with dual gnashers as well.
