Auto weapon switches and reloads

  1. This particular glitch has been happening since Gears 4 and is still showing its ugly head. I have spoken to at least 10 friends who have all confirmed they experienced this glitch. When you have your Gnasher out and engage in a battle by clicking the trigger (or shooting button) it will automatically switch your weapon at random times. Usually it’s to a Lancer but I’ve seen it also switch to a Pistol or Smoke on rare occasion. This happened on Gears 4 with 2 controllers (Standard and Elite) on both Xbox One S, X and PC. It also happens on Mouse and Keyboard on PC. I can’t get a video to confirm this because in no way would a video prove I didn’t press the input. But I can confirm that I didn’t because I’ve even removed the D-Pad on the Elite so it’s recessed and it still happens. I have only experienced this when firing with the Gnasher - never other weapons. (Side note - On Gears 4 I actually disabled my D-Pad within the settings and my weapon still switched which proves something isn’t adding up)

  2. This is specific to the Tech Test. My character will automatically reload (although fairly rare) for no reason at all. Sometimes this happens the first time I pull the trigger other times after a few shots. I have confirmed on multiple occasions I had a full clip and not a half clip from the new reload mechanics. Again, happens to several of my friends as well on both controller and keyboard (PC and XBOX). This happened with both Auto reload enabled/Disabled so I unsure what the deal is. I am not pressing RB when it happens.

The following issues were discovered on PC:

  • After I exited matchmaking for Arcade Deathmatch lobby, I tried to join Escalation lobby. After a few seconds in matchmaking for Escalation, I was put into an Arcade Deathmatch lobby. Upon exiting the Arcade Deathmatch, it took me straight back to Escalation lobby. When I tried to exit back to main menu, it got stuck on Please wait… pop up message and I had to restart the game. This happened during the second weekend.

  • Couldn’t revive teammate at one point. The ‘X’ button prompt showed up, but I was unable to revive them and they were not able to revive themselves either. This only happened one time and during the first weekend.

  • I was unable to mantle over cover. I believe this happens if you are close enough to be touching a teammate who is also in cover next to you. This happened multiple times during both weekends.

  • Audio tearing sound every time I am returned to the main menu. This happened both weekends and did it consistently every time.

  • After firing a few shots with Markza and after I stopped tapping trigger, it kept firing by itself until clip was empty. This happened once during the second weekend.

  • Kill cam is inconsistent. The most frustrating example of this was when I saw on my side (before I died) that I just positioned myself just right and pressed the trigger and see my gun fire at range that should have been a one-hit kill with gnasher, but instead I die. And then I see on kill cam that the player somehow got behind me and one-shotted me with gnasher from behind. I think this goes back to laggy servers where what has happened on the player’s screen is not what is happening on the server. I have pretty good internet with low ping and this has been an issue since Gears 1. I don’t understand why many games don’t have this issue, but it has always been a Gears staple.

I hav e a video of it above somewhere. Depending on main starting weapon ordering you can end up with dual gnashers as well.

On Xbox One

-In the killcam, I did not see the smoke that my teammates and I had thrown before dying

-When the team CGU party, there is the voice of Myrrah who talk and conversely with Locusts

-At the beginning of the game, I can’t choice weapons with the pad

-Some players run agains the wall

  • On the mode Escalade, i can’t choice the placement of weapons

My opinion regarding this test :
Big improvement over the multi of gears 4, I found the beta very promising.

On sunday night When I was inking of the hill distrcit I can’t move the game wn’t let me the gun there the character in not like i am a ghost when i ot killed aain i back normal when i was in loy to wait for a mach to start lobby resolving restartin match making due to player out line

I enjoy the game it is good and funi can’t wait for the full game

The “weapon swap blocked” icon that appears when encountering a weapon you already have is horizontally flipped from its correct orientation.

Observed: During Bootcamp, play until you are invited to pick weapons for your arsenal to prepare for the 5 versus 5 combat module. Pick up the Shock Grenades if you don’t already have them and continue standing nearby them. The UI displays a picture of the Shock Grenades as an available pickup, but the “weapon swapped blocked” icon that appears to the left is flipped.

Bugs that i ran into the last 2 days of the gears 5 tech test —>
(THIS WAS ON MY XBOX ONE X)
When i was in the main menu of the tech test i got kicked for inactivity even tho i wasnt inactive. It happend to me 3 times in 2 days.

Another bug was when i played king of the hill . I got killed by an enemy and just when i look at him from the “death camera” angel hes just moving oddly forward not doing anything. Just like when you lag out in a game everthing stops and what you were doing example running forward then your chatacter would get stuck in that running position til you lagged out completely. But when i watch the killcam hes moving normally. Wall bouncing, shooting other of my teammates and simply just keeps playing just like he did when he killed me. That happend everytime in my 2 days of playing the test.

Another thing about the killcam is that i cant see the damage that i did to the enemy that killed me. Happend everytime aswell. And i hope you guys fix these problems til the final release of this amazing game. This isnt a bug but i hope that you guys put beast mode back in to the game. Many enjoyed it in gears 3 so im pretty sure they’d love it in gears 5 aswell! The more game modes the better!!!

I attempted to preemptively mantle-kick the Marcus player, as is possible in Gears 4. This maneuver worked throughout the Tech Test, but this time the Marcus player stopped me… by taking cover where I was mantling. Normally, that would only give the victim a chance to Counter.

The preemptive mantle-kick and the preemptive yank have worked since the days of the Gears 4 beta. Not sure what broke it here. My timing seemed to be correct.

Just bots stealing my meatshields to curbstomp them. You’ve likely seen this before.

For several matches in a row, all bots on District failed to shoot or melee. The only exception is the Kait bot halfway through the third clip. She fired one burst and then rolled toward me, her work done.

In the first clip, after my fail-roll and well-deserved death, my friendly bot simply watched my execution. Throughout all of these matches, bots would not even curbstomp players or meatshields. In the third clip, you can see that a friendly Drone bot would not even revive me or mantle-kick the enemy player.

Bots really shouldn’t be in Arcade, anyway. Even when they work. But I left my feedback on that issue in the main thread.

I chose to spawn as Kait. Then I scrolled through all the bot spectator cameras, waiting to see which one would die to let me in the match.

The game force-spawned me as Fahz and declared “character customization missing.” But… there was already an Armored Kait in the match, and I had selected Kait for this match. I was able to spawn as Kait in the next life.

Mode: Arcade Quick Play

Monday morning, during a match in the Testing Grounds, I saw an opposing COG player covered in blue and either about to spawn or had just spawned and lagging. He was standing in the bottom left corner of the map. I believe dirt ground or earthen walls are there. I was facing him from the bottom middle, then quickly advanced towards him. Taking the opportunity, I began unloading a Hammerburst clip into him. In an instant flash I randomly “teleported” to the corner on the other side of the wall on his left. You know, inside the raised structure with metal walls. I appeared in that spot with my gun raised towards the sky in about a 75° angle. Unsure if I actually killed him or not.

Adding this because I don’t recall if it’s a common occurrence or a bug (been off multiplayer for a while). Same map, playing as COG, either Kait or Fazh, with a lancer (acquired if Kait). Horde player was standing directly in front of me, but angled to the right, so I was slightly approaching from his left. Went to chainsaw execute him and somehow it missed or bounced off his gun. Easy kill for him lol

Last note (probably need to write in feedback forum). Anyone else having issues performing executions? Never know what button to press. Thought it was Y, but that just brings up the gun upgrade purchasing popup. Tried B, but the melee just kicks him. Tried RB like with the lancer’s chainsaw execute, but that just reloads my gun. That’s why I always “borrow” someone’s lacer when they’re done with it haha

When playing the Tect Test this weekend, I noticed a bug with the retro. If you retro charge and then switcj to your gnasher or pistol and try and reload it, you will not be able to reload so you can’t get an active.

I was playing Escalation and lost the first round but the game gave the enemy 2 round wins instead of 1.

When in the main menu, it says your rank in the top right corner but when you press RT ans get the social page up ot says that you are a lower rank. Your friends also see you at a different rank.

At the end of a round you can’t move but if you press the right stick in at the end of the round it brings up the chat box and you can also still move around the map with this open.

For some reason when an enemy enemy team picking a weapon to place down on Escalation sometimes their character face would be blured out for some reason.

When spectating players when I died, on a couple of ocasions it would show my team mate running around holding their gun with 1 hand and shooting it with 1 hand.

You can if you have the scoreboard on at the same time. The Lancer won’t reload though.

The sound from headphones attached to the xbox controller is choppy and breaking all the time, almost unmanageable. Tried wired and wireless both!
I am playing this on windows 10 PC (Intel i7 7700k, GTX 1080)

I just launched Gears 5 on my PC and I have Logitech G635 Headphone . Something’s wrong with the sound - all voices are muffled and they sometimes do not play correctly. Honestly this is the first time I’ve ever had problemns with sound in-game (I’ve been using Logitech headphones since 2009).

I already tried disabling DTS surrounding from Logitech app. WIndows Sonic is not supported on my Logitech G635, I can’t activate it. (never needed to anyway).

I already tried setting sound frequence to 48KHZ and it didn’t change a thing.

I’ll appreciate any help.

So I just got to Act 1 the tide turns and going through the hotel but it’s glitchy. The walls and furniture are invisible, this is on the Xbox one x, tried restarting the console and it’s still the same.

Game is now unplayable as I cannot see where I’m going.

I’m having a lot of problems I’m playing on xbox
1.cant play story due to having over a half an hour load time
2.cant stay in a match of escape as it keeps kicking me
Haven’t tried other modes yet but guess they will do the same
