Here’s what’s most likely going to happen. In gears six the one who you chose not to die in 5, will die. If anything you just temporarily delayed one of their fates. That way beyond 6 and future games they can just say that they both lost their lives during the war with the swarm. Also keeping some sort of canon on the main storyline. I believe either way JD or Dels days are numbered.
Your also set on having Del as the canon choice. I actually wanted a third option I wanted kait to go evil because that is the best non-option in my opinion
I saw your post about that stuff regarding Kait. But I already had the impression for quite a while that they were not going in that direction with Kait due to various factors. Playing through 5s story just made this all the more clear, especially after Act 2 ended. And personally, I believe she has more potential as a human than something turned Swarm that then would no longer actually be Kait,
I think that is, because the writers do indeed intend Del´s death to be canon. I don´t think it´s fair to say though, that Del didn´t care or anything. He was devastated after that scene and crying. I think he just did what his instincts told him to do, mainly, get out of there as fast as possible or we all die as well and JD died for nothing. People react differently in such moments. JD was just killed and in the next few seconds the whole ground was about to break up. That´s not an ordinary moment. They had to react fast or JD would have died for nothing.
Generally, I don´t want to accuse the writers of being lazy, but I think they also did their part to make it clear, that Del´s death will be most likely canon. Del´s death timeline has more dialogue and the reactions of Fahz show that too.

I chose Del because theres more of a chance for JD survival. Del with Jacks destruction has Dr. Niles Research on genetics. I feel JD diee but Reyna took her body and kept him alive. She couldt have Kait dead or alive so she took JD.
Del with Baird Help uses Dr niles research to save JF body.
Kait with Marcus helps agrees with Jinn to sync to the hivemind to save JD
That was my 1st thought too, I thought Kait was gonna throw the knife at Reina’s head…
They wouldn’t put in a choice like that in the middle chapter of a story in 2019, then decide only one of them is “canon” for the next game, rendering the choice a bunch of people made, meaningless.
There’s lots of ways they can write the next game to account for either character’s presence/absence.
Anyone who saved del is a ■■■■■■■ moron and a pathetic idiot he is a trash character with no back story no connections nothing. He was a orphan jd took pity on the guy is clearly in love with Kait. It’s humiliating to say you saved del because he is the worst character in the history of gears

I saved JD, basically entirely because of Marcus. I wouldn’t accept him losing anyone else. Aside from that, it’d be a toss-up.

I heard supposedly that in the official gears 5 guidebook it confirms that JD is the one who lives, we need confirmation on this
Where can I find proof on the existence of this book? I know of the Gears 5 artbook, which I have, but that states nothing of the choice of JD living being canon. And the whole “choice” would be completely pointless from top to bottom if they ended up going with a canon after all. This really is a mess.

There is no official guidebook, so this definitely isn’t correct.
Only a handful saved Del, so it’s fine.

Aha so where did this rumour come from then, I’ve seen youtubers, people on here even state this supposed Guidebook, yet never once saw anyone post a physical copy of said book

Yep, i’ve seen many people talking about someone else talking about that “guide book” but no one knows anything about said book. A real shame.

Hell even I began to believe it,
Big issue I have is people saying kait woulda chose Del or JD. No. JD and kait dated for sure. And were romantically involved. The coma made JD push the people he cared about away so they wouldn’t get hurt like lizzie. That made kait resent him but they started to heal and she cares about jd a lot. Del was there but name one thing about the guy other than he’s funny and smart. You can’t. He’s bland and boring jd has a way more depth and to be frank a better voice actor. That scene in the rubble with jd is heartbreaking as he cries over Del. Del crying over JD was weak. You take Del out of the game completely what changes? Nothing. He could be replaced by a nameless gear for the same affect. JD deserves to be the one to live. But kait should’ve sacrificed herself and the last part of the game shoulda been the same but with JD and Del instead of kait. And then the next game coulda been about finishing kait. Js.
There was never any confirmation whatsoever. Hell, the most we have seen is that they were hugging each other after Kait killed Reyna, which would indicate she was closer to him than anyone else in that group. But no confirmation of a romantic relationship. People can be close friends without loving each other, you know? That’s what we were seeing there, in my view. Never had the impression there was anything more than that going on. Even with what Marcus said to JD where he just shrugged his shoulders. They literally completely stopped dropping any hints whatsoever besides these small things in Gears 4 - one of which was just Marcus saying to JD that Kait is a bit special(“interesting”) in her own right, and the other could just have been because they were closer in their friendship. If there was anything, no doubt there would have been some hints or not so subtle things pointing at it like Kait and Del talking about it.
And the same argument of Kait being divided between Del and JD also applies to you. It’s senseless to assume she would always choose JD because YOU prefer him over Del. She cares about both of them. They are both her friends. YOUR personal preference for one character does not change what SHE feels about both Del and JD.
The events of Act 1 take place fairly soon after Gears 4, and they clearly weren’t dating. Then JD got injured, and ran off to do missions with Fahz.
