I’m not here to bash immediately, I love the fact you brought a new game mode into Gears of War, good work. I think the tour of duty is pretty good as well, could be better but no complaints there. Made it easier to unlock characters, maybe too easy but an improvement. Two new maps, one classic that people love I also like. Here’s my problem. Guardian and Execution taken out of ranked? HUGE letdown guys, I don’t care if they aren’t as played as other game modes, it’s still some people’s favorites. As a fan since Gears 1, I can somewhat get over this but my casual gears friends love Guardian. They now have no desire to play, even in its a lowered played game-mode, I found a solid game within 2 minutes. Also, the new game not introduced to rank right away? Bring them back, this is completely inconsiderate to the community and like it or not you already lost a ton of fans because of Gears 5.
I don’t see the point in having a KOTH+TDM option in Quickplay if it’s already occupying a space on the Ranked side. TC should remove the squad limits(3 max), Bot backfilling and basically replace Quickplay with an UnRanked playlist with everything else that isn’t living up to TC’s population standards.
TC can’t promise to have all these modes in Ranked when they just contradict themselves every time a new mode launches. It happened with FFA and now it just happened with Gridiron.

I agree with many of you. It’s a shame to see both Guardian and Execution removed. Especially Guardian. Both classic game modes.
I just played Operation 3 for the first time tonight. Started with the new Game mode and played a few rounds. Then went to look for Guardian. Not there. That’s pretty much all I have been playing every night for the last weeks and finding matches wasn’t a problem.
The Coalition can add all the bells and whistles they want to this game, but what we ultimately have here is one new game mode, an old map and a new map.
Hopefully they bring back Guardian sooner rather than later.
Until then, Goodbye Gears.
Us guardian players don’t want to play gridiron. I played a couple of games of gridiron and it does not have the same excitement as guardian has.
It’s not my fault a lot of the real players went to go play call of duty Battle Royal, cause even before this update, gears was still buggy, slow, and lacking, I didnt think it would get worse. And most of the hardcore fan base are exe players.

The hardcore players are those that continue to play this game no matter how many issues it has. Playing a specific mode doesn’t make someone more hardcore than the next. Based on your statement, since Escalation is eSports, that would be for the most hardcore players. But no one plays that mode because they don’t enjoy it. And esports is filled with the best and most hardcore players there are.
@Krylon_Blue have you played gridiron? Just curious what your thoughts are. I know how you feel about guardian. I have a feeling guardian will be back pretty quickly.

So I am not rlly used to complain Abt games, but I can’t believe I had hope to play Gears of war again and then the devs just take it away. Guardian is the only game mode I’ve been playing since GoW2 and they just take it away? I don’t wanna play any of the other modes. I stoped playing gears of war when the mobility became slow and trash (Gow 4) I started playing Gears of war 5 again after 3 years because the mobility was fixed and now you come and ■■■■ it again? I don’t wanna play this game anymore. I want all the money I’ve spent on this game back . I want Epic Games Back, gears of war has only gone Down since TC took over GoW
I been playing gears since 2007 And I have never complained about any update and this is the first time, TC, they would only have put new content in the gameplay as well as the game in operation 2 was perfect and Guardian was my favorite game mode, removing it was a total mess, please bring back Guardian. You sound triggered, That’s my opinion, I say that. Because that is the original comp scene game mode, it was the first and lasted the longest in the mlg/esl/umg/e sport scene. And true escalation is the current new meta hardcore mode, Although it’s more of KOTH objective based game mode, while exe is a single-life elimination, thus in my opinion the more hardcore game mode, And dont play it much, mainly cause I play solo mostly since gears 5. And I consider myself a harscore player, cause I’m still playing this game with all of its issues, been here on the forum since GOW3, when barely anyone was on the forums, and gears was dead, only small community, before Fallout was TC. Haha. Different GT though, and my OG forum medal dissapeared I guess?
I played about 5 matches of Gridiron. It’s okay but I’m generally bored after a match or two. I’d much rather play Guardian over this mode and I honestly don’t see myself playing Gridiron too much. At this point it’s KotH or bust.
@EA_Panther @AE_lToXic Guys…in case you didn’t know this, Epic games decided they no longer wanted to make or go forward with the Gears franchise…At all. They sold the I.p. The reasons why are documented very well. The Coalition didn’t,“take over Gears of War” and its development because Epic was just taking a break. They no longer wanted to do it. I hear your frustration and I can’t say I wouldn’t be upset as well if my game mode of choice was removed. But saying things like, “we want Epic games back” sounds a bit baby-ish. Epic isn’t coming back…Ever.
I am a player outside of your network that feels the same. I don’t play Gaurdian but if my favourites were removed I wouldn’t play either. It would push me away from the game too.

Does no one else find it funny that the rulesets are still exe/warzone when they dont exist in this game?
Fair enough… to that point I agree exe rules are better than warzone rules, cause you can get muskratted down(shout out Landan) but they still have to come close to finish you… that would be better agreed.
Thats why I put dbno time as low as possible on the private Guardian lobby I just did… I also put respawn time as quick as possible to counter act them screing that up in 5 where you dont come back when Leader dies even if you was already respawning… with quick respawns it at least gave you better chance to spawn in when your leader was about to die.
None the less, I’m a nobody, not a streamer, never messed with private games before… easily hosted and filled a Guardian lobby had some fun for a few games… but Guardian isn’t popular TC.
I personally don’t feel like 2v2 Gnasher should be a ranked mode, feels more like a special event.
I would have the following for Ranked;
Team Deathmatch - For the casuals to get Master rank and feel special.
Gridiron - Honestly really like this mode from what i’ve played and single life, good substitute for Execution.
King of the Hill - Personal favourite and all the sweats play it, nice and intense, like the smack talk also.
Guardian - Should’ve never been removed, it definitely deserves to be in ranked.
I feel like the ship has sailed for FFA, even if it was to be added to ranked now i suspect it wont be popular, even though i would’ve enjoyed it if it was released in ranked and i imagine the ranking system will still have faults despite the 6 month delay by TC so it almost defeats the purpose. TC really messed up with FFA i feel.
Escalation is awful, i couldn’t find a match for it a month after the games release, no way in hell does Guardian have less players than Failation which was the reason for removing Guardian. 60+ minute wait time usually and 15+ minute wait time at peak times for Escalation opposed to 5+ minute wait time usually and 2+ minute wait time at peak times for Guardian i think says it all. The only reason it stays in ranked is because of Esports.
If they add Wingman also then that’s another problem, although i would like to see Wingman at some point.
Gears 5 should’ve released with Gridiron, FFA and Execution. Would’ve exposed those modes to all the new players and maybe they would’ve stayed fairly played or even kept some players who left because they liked them. Also Gridiron would’ve been brand new and FFA, only seen in Judgement would’ve given Gears 5 a fresh feeling instead of loading up a brand new game and seeing the same modes we’ve played for decades.
(I also think they went about FFA in the wrong way, i think it would play better if they reduced the players to 8, making it easier to get a match and put them on the standard versus maps instead of adding to the work load having to create new maps, or rob tiles from Escape in the previous case)
