It doesn’t have warzone rules. It has escalation rules. Your down, but it takes more shots to kill you (like escalation) vs TDM or warzone.
They play test execution rules and everyone that played it said why can’t I kill the enemy, what’s going on because the majority of players don’t play execution and that rule it only in that mode.
My biggest complaint about Gridiron is that 95% of the matches I played no one was trying to bring the flag to the endzone. It was just kill the whole squad which at that point makes the mode just warzone with a bonus
Octus said it himself, it’s more like execution with an objective than traditional CTF.
The goal isn’t to get a touchdown. It’s to win the round. and you can do it either elimination or touchdown.
It’s definitely not 95%, but I get your point. Remember those rounds that did result in a touchdown, if it were execution, it would have been the long, drawn out stalemates that made execution fail as a game mode.
I played 5 matches of Gridiron and my team was the only team to bring the lag to the endzone 1 time
Not 1 person on the other teams in the 5 matches we played tried to bring it.
It will be interesting to see how it plays in ranked with teams of 5.
The devs mentioned nothing is set I stone, and they are looking for improvements for the mode.
I guess I’m okay with people going for eliminations to end rounds quickly or just grabbing the flag when it’s 4v1 to score instead doing on a hunting match for the last guy
Warzone rules are that you can kill downs from distance, Exe rules require kills up close.
Escalation is s newer game, and its rules are based on a modified warzone rule set.
You can play with stacks right now. It doesnt have social match rules with only 3 people.
Im just not a fan. They need to make the flag more valuable to make it a good mode in my opinion.
1 match we played on foundation we were down to 2v3 with the other team having the extra player and they camped their endzone with the flag and 1 of them had boom. They could have easily scored a touchdown

Being the leader basically means you can’t really do much most of the time & it’s boring AF.
I mean Guardian has always kind of been like that but if you are playing a good team it wont be boring.
Playing in a team is only way it wouldn’t be boring because you can use the map to make call outs and co-ordinate pushes,
Apart from that, I can understand otherwise.
I mean playing Gears solo isnt fun no matter what mode your playing lol

I dont think so, Ive been playing a ton of Gridiron, gotten 4 of the 6 medals for that (last one is impossible til they do the update they mentioned… and the other I find hard forcing myself to be a muskrat lol) but haven’t gotten anything in the versus event section

I gave gridiron a chance, it’s fun but gets old quick. Need guardian back ASAP! Only mode that really felt like there was some strategy involved. Reducing it to what it’s become is just utter nonsense. Not to mention that when you join a ranked game of anything it seems like you can’t even get a solid match without the other team quitting, and I mean the whole team.
Ya like I said in the dev stream Id be ok with it being in quickplay prefer Ranked, but I can tolerate quickplay if it had its own list option… as much as I hate KOTH, I can unbiasedly admit it’s more popular, so having it in same playlist is a shot in the foot, why I don’t even do that playlist,
