Mine was crashing until I stopped using G-Sync, I just switched to DVI input and all was fixed.
In the end I rolled back to 436.15 and have had no crashes since. - this is prob the best solution for 10xx cards for now
There is mention of crashes on the main Nv thread for 436.30 so maybe a fix is incoming but nothing on https://www.gears5.com/status so TC dont see it as a prio - even though so many people have been playing since day 1 due to game pass,.
Yep just got to wave 6 of horde and it crashed to desktop. This game has given me so many headaches lol I’ve tried everything, rollback drivers/windows updates, disabled game bar, etc. but no luck. If anyone has a solution please let me know. I don’t know how much more of this I can take.

I got game pass few days ago to try GoW5 but i can’t enjoyed this couse of the crash in mid gameplay f#cking annoying i try new drivers, old drivers, but nothing fix this.

There’s nothing on TC status pages about client side issues, its mostly MP stuff and server side changes. Maybe it will all be fixed in the big October title update - by when I’ll have finished Campaign
I can see these things being posted regularly - not suffered by all users but common enough to warrant a mention on an issues page

Set minimum FPS to 60
Set Maximum FPS to 60
This game uses a highly intensive texture/resolution downsampling tech to prioritize maintaining a high framerate. While it looks amazing in motion, I suspect that the FPS jumping between 60 and 200+ and your videocard trying to compensate by adjusting textures and resolution ON THE FLY might increase the chances of something going haywire and the whole thing stalling out.
Anyway I changed these settings from min60 max unlimited to 60/60 and am having success so far, good luck!

Anything’s worth a try but I already tried to stabilise
- first benchmark with vsync off min framerate off to get genuine result for your GPU
- this shows 1080ti can manage 80fps at 1440p
- change to 1440p turn on vsync
- benchmark confirms 100% frames rendered at full res
Therefore running at 1440p on 1080ti means GPU is operating well within its capabilities at 60fps cap
My crash with 436.30 was with loading game not when rendering but its good advice to try to stabilise framereate
I’m going through the process of resetting my pc. I noticed that some of the windows updates weren’t installed correctly so I’m just trying to do a clean install of the recent update. I’ll see if it works
One youve got all windows updates on and the game up to date my advice is 436.15 for 10xx Nvidia cards 436.30 for 2xxx. If the framereate is crazy low in bench then in geforce experience re-install driver selecting clean isntall.
Yeah I’m going to try to uninstall and reinstall my drivers now. The clean reset didn’t work lol Still crashed to desktop
i also try old drivers nothing works, i’m having freezes and stops responding for about 8 seconds and then goes back to normal but sometimes it give me BSOD or Crash to Desktop.
Yeah I give up. I’ve been playing Gears since the first one in 2006 but this is actually unplayable. I can’t even enjoy the game without it crashing every 30 minutes. I’ll play once they fix this issue but until then I’m steering clear.
So I have been having this issue for the last couple of weeks. The weird part is my PC has been running the game since the day it was available on game pass ultimate without any issue what so ever. But for some reason recently, I’ll load into a game (campaign) and it’ll run fine for about 10 seconds then the framerate will drop from 60-90 to 20. Then stutter and drop even more until it freezes entirely. If I’m lucky, I’ll be able to slowly quit the game but most times even after the game has closed, my entire PC has frozen. I can still move the mouse cursor, but unable to click on anything and have to hard reset it. Weirder still, if I do this enough times, it’ll eventually run fine again until I close the application. I know my CPU and ram are probably bottlenecking my GPU (i5 3570k @ 3.4GHz, 16gb ddr3 ram, RTX 2070 XC Ultra) but haven’t had a chance to upgrade those bits yet and it was working fine until recently. Plus it’s only gears 5 that’s effected :S. I’ve tried reverting drivers, adjusting the Nvidia control panel settings, game settings, overlays etc etc basically everything the forums mention that even remotely sound like the same issue. But nothing works!!!

For couple days been experiencing the same issue. Started in the beggining of Act IV. Today I managed to get past that point, been playing for maybe an hour. Then I had to quit. When I lunched the game again problem returned. I’m already 3 hard restarts later with no view for gaming tonight.Those problems affect only GOW5. Untill Act IV been playing the game with no problems on high graphics setting.

I have the very same strange problem. Since I have reached act 3 (desert) the game starts to gets slower and slower after starting the campaign and than it freezes till only reset button helps. It drives me crazy because the game ran perfect until this point. If I hit esc after it starts to get slow and make it back to the Maine menu, than when I restart campaign without restarting the hole game, the problem is gone until the next restart. But even than sometimes it freezes in the loading screen when exiting the campaign. I don’t get it.

Drivers are the newest, amd relive and any overlays are off. I have rx 5700 and 16gb ram with an i5 4690. tried the most fixes i found online, nothing worked.
Started all with act 3. A workaround is to start campaign, jump immediately back to main menu and start campaign again. Then it works… sometimes. This is very annoying.
Yep exact same problem. tried a bunch of methods to fix it, nothing worked.
