Gears 5 PC Benchmark - Post Yours for Comparison!

What do you mean?

Killing Aura Sync helped with the issues?

My benchmark. RTX 3080 EVGA FTW3 Ultra Gaming, 1440p

Had an issue, gpu usage didn’t go up as it should, even if I drop settings to minimum, fps remained the same and gpu use just went down. Fresh windows install and everything solved, for now… Now I fear that when I update drivers, install a new game or whatever, it will happen again.

Anyway, Gears 5 works reeeeally good now, averaging 200 fps everything in ultra

I set the RGB to a static color/turned it off. Eliminated my issue almost entirely. I have the Asus Armoury Crate installed.

Also, looks like new update puttin’ some more hurt on the benchmark!

What does your bench look like now after the update? I’m getting ~10-15 FPS lower average.

Cranked settings to MAX with the new update. It puts the hurt on!

MSI RTX 3090 Suprim X +OC @ 110core 300mem.

after last update (not the first time it happens), I’m averaging 95-100fps, when it was like 140-145fps before that.
Last time I only could fix it, doing a fresh windows install. Anyone else with these issues? Any idea how to fix it (aside from reinstall windows)?

The benchmarks are not a true benchmark of the game. It’s only testing campaign. It’s not testing multiplayer where there is considerably more going on. The results are not accurate by any means.

I kmow this thread is about PCs, but just wanted to say: i got a series X, and tried 120FPS vs 60, both horde and coop, didnt really see/feel any difference (was running at 1440, my TV cant do more than 60 in 4K).

Btw, i gave the series x to my wife, sticking to my one X, due to the lack of optical audio port. The astro a50’s 3D sound virtualization is AWESOME, with optical, it is barely OK via USB… I didnt see any benefit for Gears 5 on series X

You need to be at a certain skill level to appreciate the 120Hz in MP.

Doesn’t surprise me you didn’t notice a difference.

Horde & Co-Op are still 60Hz I believe on Series X.

I guess the difference isn’t as game-changing as it is on PC, since v-sync is still active so the difference in input latency probably isn’t as noticable
Edit: may ofcourse also be the TV input lag

Not true,

His TV may have higher input lag,

But the game has had it reduced by quite a bit, almost on par with the PC version I believe.

I figured out where some of our frames went to if you’re comparing today’s in-game benchmark to your benchmarks ran a few months ago. If you take a look at the graphic settings in the benchmark result screen, today you will notice 2 graphic settings that weren’t present a few months back and must’ve been introduced with one of the previous updates, which “Screen Space Illumination Ray Count” and “Screen Space Variable Shading” graphic settings.

I read a article online where they introduced these settings to improve performance, however, they tank the game’s performance. If I turn this setting off my frames return to normal for both in-game benchmarks and actually monitoring my frames in PvP via rivatuner. I don’t notice any visual downgrade either, so as to why it was placed in the game boggles me. Maybe it was aimed at AMD graphic cards which this game is optimized for. While we are on this topic, when I turn Async Compute off I gain on average 10 FPS with no visual quality hit. Dealing with these 3 settings by turning them off I now score in the 140ish FPS in the in-game benchmark with a RTX 3090 @1440P Ultra settings.

I commented in another thread 2 weeks ago about this very issue noticing that my frames dropped, and low and behold I compared in-game benchmark screenshots on this forum to mine and noticed I had settings that weren’t listed in in others screenshots.

140 FPS is still quite low for a 3090.

What are you getting at 1080p Ultra?

I’ve seen benchmarks hit 190+ with a 3090.

I’m not sure what’s going on with this game since a few updates have passed. It seems as though as new updates are rolled out, it decreases performance, at least in my case. My TimeSpy GPU score 20,500, and all other synthetic benchmarks indicate that my 3090 performs slightly above average. Games like COD Warzone/FPS/Cyberpunk I’m pulling great FPS in comparison to other reviews and/or youtube videos using the same settings and resolution.

Here’s a screenshot of the last in game benchmark I ran.

Yeah,

The graph doesn’t look too great,

TimeSpy - I was getting 22,000 Score …

That’s great.

The average score for a 3090 is 19,800 via Timespy so if I’m getting somewhere around that number I know that my card is at least performing to spec. Some win the silicon lottery, overclock and/or put their cards on water for better heat management and obtain high scores such as the EVGA Kingpin, EVGA FTW3 and the ASUS ROG Strix. I only run synthetic benchmarks when there’s a change to my PC via a Windows update, RAM upgrade, etc, to determine if my card is still running to spec. Currently I play on a LG Nano85 w/G Sync @4k 120 FPS capped at 117 FPS, so playing beyond 117 only introduces fan noise and more load on my GPU because my TV exhibits tearing beyond 120.

It’s just that the plethora of updates for Gears 5 typically introduces new things behind the scene, where one’s benchmarks from September 2020 varies from the game version that exist today. Hence if all in game settings are kept the same there’s a great chance you can see a 10-15 FPS variance which isn’t indicative of a failing or declining GPU.

If you look across the internet at professional reviews related to the 3090 and their in game benchmark results for Gears 5 specifically, you’ll see their results vary widely from 109 - 129 FPS. Grant it, it’s difficult to make a apple to apple comparison when there’s so many variables such as driver version/CPU/RAM /Motherboard/overclocks, etc.

It’s not so much the FPS.

It’s the graph and how volatile it is.

The one you posted isn’t very desirable.

Nvidia & Gears 5 just don’t work well at all, there’s a huge performance loss compared to AMD cards.

I’ve got a ftw3 3080 and bemchmark performance decreased like 20 fps. But that’s not it. I only play versus, I was getting 180-200fps average and now I’m getting 130-140, sometimes with drops to 40, 50. It’s awful… no matter what I do or try, nothing works. Submit a ticket TC says. Did that 3 months ago and no answer whatsoever. Gpu usage stays in 70-80%, if I low settings, I get same fps, it only goes down in gpu usage. Any other game works flawlessly and like a charm, 95-99% gpu usage (Call of duty cold war and Modern Warfare, assassins creed…) windows fresh install, reinstall the game… sometimes it fixes it for a few days, then goes back to normal
