That’s not an official account, just a heads up

Ah, thx.

I’m still looking to see more organic, living, overgrown, and alien maps:

I just don’t want to see nonstop metallic factory, weapon base, facility type maps. We need settings like Bullet Marsh, not the map, just the setting of it. Alien subterranean areas like The Hollow, Ruins, etc. Maybe a forest type area with cabins like by Marcus’s home or outside of River. There should be a more overgrown and old/worn look for some of the maps with all the shiny, metallic textures.

The last pic there reminds me of the old Mad World trailer of Gears 1. As long as 90% of the maps aren’t squared off unscathed, brand new clean metallic textured generic looking maps, I’ll be more at ease.

A locust hollow cave and locust palace maps from Gears 2 would be awesome for Gears 5.

This would give maps atmosphere for sure.

The two new maps shown look good, but definitely too manufactured.

A good mix will be welcome.

I’d love to see River make a return as well as Mausoleum. I’m sure there were issues with both so I wouldn’t mind some minor tweaks or changes as they’ve done to other maps they’ve brought back.

Three that I really want to see are River, Mansion and Tyro Station. I’ll leave the rest up to you guys

Gears 2 definitely did have the best maps out compared to all other gears. Reading through these posts I see little to no mentions of Jacinto! Maybe to me that map is especially nostalgic but I think that it’s stupid underrated. I really Hope from the bottom of my fking heart that it somehow gets brought back.

Academy from G3 is a great map, also seems large enough to work with escalation, as that seems to be important to TC

I’m seeing River a lot. I loved River on Gears 2, but I’m not sure how well it would play with how powerful and prominent the lancers are these days, imagine the crossing,

They should just include every map ever made in GOW 1-4 and new maps for GOW 5, give everyone what they want.

As much as I love the idea but unfortunately we both know it will never happen.

Such a shame it doesn’t though. I always quote
Halo MCC at this point!

Halo MCC was multiple existing Halo games in one package not a new game with all pre existing maps being remade in a new engine.

Yeah I know, doesn’t stop me from wanting all the maps. Even in their original form. I will leave others to work out the minutia

Have you played Gears 3 lately? It is still gorgeous

Yep , GoW3 is still beautiful :cowboy_hat_face:

GOW 3 still looks amazing as does GOW 2, this is because of the graphics engine they used, it’s very impressive.

Metro 2033 and Last Light last gen are the only games I would say hold up like the GOW games because of the high quality graphics used, plus attention to detail.

I don’t mind having SOME remade maps. I have my favorites for sure, but we fail to realize one very important thing in this discussion every time a new game comes out. That is these maps play differently game to game.

This is especially true of GoW2 maps. GoW2 did have great maps but it also didn’t have rifles that were super effective like they were in 3 and 4. Like, playing Security, which was probably my favorite GoW2 map, is awful in Gow4 because you just can’t move around the map hardly at all. Rifles rifles everywhere. Which is fine, I’m not hating on rifle gameplay, but if the map isn’t set up for it it blows.

River is a map that is constantly brought up in this conversation. I loved river but it would be awful in GoW5, ASSUMING that the rifle play is equal to that of GoW4. If it’s not then all bets are off, but I’m assuming the impact of rifles will be similar. Imagine charging down the spawn streets through five lancers. Camp city. Of course they could make changes to it like they did to Jacinto between 2 and 3, but as is it just won’t work. I’ll also add the caveat that I didn’t spend much time in the tech test so I don’t really know how GoW5 rifles feel.

Let’s also remember how mad people were when they realized how many maps in gow4 were recycled from previous games, or from gow4 itself. If gow5 winds up with 30-40 maps, id genuinely prefer that 75% of them be new.

Notice that leaves like ten maps to be brought back. I DO like classic maps, I just think we need to be careful what we wish for. Some maps that I loved that I think would also work in gears 5, assuming rifles are similar to GoW4, are:

Memorial
highway
Allfathers garden
Trenches
Academy
Grind yard
Hail (if they made it symmetrical, otherwise I hated that map)
Sanctuary
Ruins
