Gears 5 :mostly only in Spanish countries it is above 30 in most played list on xlive

The Ops 3 release will give it new life for 2-4 weeks so it will jump to a newer number. I am betting top 30. Then it will fall off again.

ok, updated everything. I saw big drops in some of the western countries, with small moves up/down elsewhere.

Down to 48 again in the UK.

We’re on lockdown here, but we still have good taste!

For a second I thought it had left the UK list, but a closer look and the cover shot has changed.

Creeping up to 44 now (was 48 for a few days, hit 45, now 44).

OP3 prediction…a peak of 36 (generous), but if we didn’t see 3X I wouldn’t be surprised.

So it nudged up to 42, but now a huge (for G5) bump to 37!

It’s not that the Mexicans are the most loyal.

It’s that Americans are tired of being forced to play with them when their connections are trash and the net code clearly favors them in a lag compensation aspect.

When the highest my ping goes is 12 during an entire match, but stats between 6-8, and I’m forced to play entire lobbies, my team and the opposing team, all non Americans with pings over 100 and spiking over 1,000 randomly… sure.

You can say I’m not a loyal fan all you want. But I have quite a bit of evidence to the contrary of that claim.

As far as I’m concerned, TC wasn’t loyal to the franchise. Obviously people who are getting BS’d every game are going to quit, and the people doing the BS are going to stay. They get the best of both worlds. Normal online play they get lag comp to make them gods. And then since they’re the only ones playing, the tournaments are down there and they can play locally, so the lag isn’t an issue and it doesn’t highlight the massive problems with the game.

TC has placated right the Mexican crowd since launch. Everyone knows it. And they don’t even pretend to try to hide it. I’m not saying America is better. I’m not saying Mexicans are bad players. I’m saying none of that even matters if your game is coded the way it currently is to give poor connections a clear advantage. In their attempt to create equal play, they’ve made it completely 1 sided.

You probably don’t know that the further away the server is from the client, the higher the ping will be, regardless of how good his connection is.
Guess where all the dedicated servers for North America are located.
Yes, in the USA.
And why didn’t people move away from 4 when it was this same situation with the servers?

Let’s not make excuses, G5 sucks, period.

I probably don’t know basic internet protocol? Lol. Ok. Anyway…

I clearly stated that skill didn’t matter because of LAG COMPENSATION. I was very clear about that. Latency isn’t an issue. That’s the whole point. It smooths over latency. Visually, the game is fine. It’s hit registration that is the problem. Which is where the lag comp comes into play. It’s simple logic. If 2 people are charging head first into battle, 1 with 10 ping, the other with 150, the lower ping player will ALWAYS be seeing the opponent where they WERE, not where they ARE. If I’m that lower ping, waiting for you to be in shotgun range, by the time I think you’re there, you’re ALREADY THERE. Because your internet updates so much slower than mine. Which means you get the first shot off according to the server. Because while I waited that extra second, you were already where I needed you to be and shot. So even though my screen shows me first. Yours shows you first. That’s the inherent problem right now. A person with great internet is constantly battling the fact that what their eyes are seeing is wrong and having to compensate for that. The net code is TERRIBLE.

This isn’t 2010. Having the best internet connection isn’t what’s most advantageous any more. Why do you think people server hopped so hard in Gears 4? Because it doesn’t make sense to play on a fair connection when you can get lag compensation and have an advantage.

And Gears 4 has a population that was predominantly played by Mexicans as well. Also had a mass exodus of players, just like Gears 5 did.

Easy solution, put servers in Mexico for the Mexicans and centra Americans. Problem solved. Then fix the net code and change this garbage lag compensation.

Feel free to ask questions. I’m more than happy to answer them. But in the future, let’s try to avoid making assumptions, such as not knowing where the servers are and how they work.

I had a look, the game is enjoying a bounce up in rsnking because of Op3, i guess… I will check again in a week and update the ranks

It’s funny because the hit registration is one of the things I’ve criticized the most in this game… so much so that it was one of the main reasons I dropped out of the 5.
And not only I say it but there are hundreds of Mexican players who also complain about it.
The facebook groups are full of these complaints, and now you come to say that this gives us an advantage??? please find another excuse, but not that one.

And I don’t know which massive exodus of players from the USA you are referring to, since I meet players from your country all the time, and even more so now that many people are coming back (to the GoW4 of course).

Incidentally, I also log onto US servers for games like BF1 and BF4 and I don’t see people complaining about how a higher ping makes up for it.
What it does bother is to play with or against players with high pings, and by that I mean above 200, but that happens in rare and unusual situations.

So, if the game is being abandoned, it’s because it’ s bad.

Up to 32 in the UK. We are on lockdown (hope everyone is ok), but still pretty decent. Although I suspect the numbers for 30-45 most played are pretty low and the differences pretty slim.

I have the so called advantage you speak of everytime I play because I live in the Pacific Northwest where internet is slow and will most likely never improve. This is 100% false. From my experience playing this series of games it is the complete opposite of what you describe. I have to miss and shoot behind players with lower ping on purpose because my bullets don’t shoot them when I pull the trigger because they are actually a step behind where they are shown to me on the screen. I have put a full spread into the back of a player then they turn around take a step back a blow me to peices in one shot. I did no damage and the kill cam shows me shooting beside the other player into the wall instead of right at them.

I never found this to be a problem and personally never did it until the option to manually select my closest data center was taken away because you guys whined about people hopping regions to find games to play.

This will certainly help but not solve the problem. The real solution is to match players by connection times first then skill second when players search for a match. We would have to give something up to achieve this though. Wait times to be put in a match would go up as a result and we would have less players to play with just like in gears of war 4 before the region selector got taken away.

Now 30 in the UK.

Honestly, I call shenanigans tbh. Given the litany of complaints and angry threads re OP3 and its complete and utter lack of quality.

Either that, or the numbers of players between games that low must be miniscule.

Or us Brits really are tasteless dress whores who have been seduced by cosmetic crap. But even that, and the current lockdown, cannot explain why we would play such a dull, insipid, uninspired game like G5!!!

Brits are not the only ones, I’m ashamed to admit that many of my mexicans countrymen like crap too.

Up to 28 now. GG.

Except…free play days on offer, at least in the UK. Let’s see what 13/4 brings.

(Plus, numbers don’t make the gameplay or game play better.)

Right, I didn’t remember they gave away a few days for free.

We’ll see how it positions when they finish, although from what I saw the other day when I got into the multiplayer, I didn’t get it regularly even if they paid me.

Think this was the OG position thread so…

Anyway, in all this time, G5 has managed to stay in the top 50 for the UK. It’s spent a lot of that time in 46-49 though.

The three points I take from this…

Games in that position must have few players, very few. If you follow D2, then you have a pretty good idea as to the daily global log ins per platform, so drop off 30+ spots and have a think. That games that low swap around / in and out quite regularly etc.

Xbox is just generally lacking in quality when you look at any country list. So for G5 to be so low amid a sea of garbage really heightens how poor G5 is performing and how poorly it is generally received.

G5 is still garbage.

Right, it’s been a long time and now I can’t update the original post anymore, so I will add new stats here.

OMG, it’s incredible how little the numbers have changed, since I last updated the values up top, hahaha…

All those changes, and nothing… A couple of countries moved up a bit, a couple moved down a bit, that’s about it…

This is still clearly a Spanish speaking audience game…
