And you weren’t even favoured. When did the guy quit?
Regardless, you should never lose points for going 22-1, regardless of MVP in TDM.
I love how lost rounds always take off way, way more points than you get for won rounds

The system has insanely high expectations of your performance.
Cleary not allowed to lose rounds
I wonder if quitting effects the point distribution?
How did your round 2 go?
If the bulk of your kills were in the first and final round the system is likely bringing your consistency into question.
That doesn’t really justify negatives points on a win with a MVP performance regardless but still.
I’m guessing you played cautious/slower that round by comparison to the first.
He quit end of round 2. I remember thinking it was strange since they got the round win; thought it would be one of my team.
Round 2 was fine, I am pretty constant throughout matches. Don’t think there was any slowdown, I don’t go for stalemates anymore since they always give me -1000 or more points.
Oh, I actually didn’t even notice the player on the opposing team quit.
That definitely messed up everything. Hopefully they’ll address that sooner rather than later.
How do people win multiple matches in a row in ranked, to climb to a different level. I never get consistently good teammates for more then one match and if i try to play with friends i cant find a game. How are people able to find good teammates so consistently in order to win.
Which game mode are you playing?
If you’re playing KOTH, Execution or Escalations it’s much harder to match your performance to the systems expectations for you at your given rank (round to round bases) because the of the way the point/rank system is.
In TDM (and Exec but it’s harder because there’s less opportunities to do well) it’s a lot more straight forward and ‘easy’ to do well. Priority 1. win the game priority 2. perform well.
If you perform around your expectations but lose you might lose anywhere from 100- 0 points (roughly). This because truer the higher you’re ranked up because the system expects you to do waay more. If you exceed your expected performance in the match/round but lose you could stand to gain around the same amount like 60 or 200.
The teammates don’t get better. As it stands, if you’re higher skilled player you are expected to carry your team and make up the bulk of the points. If you don’t meet that expectation you go down. If you don’t meet it and you lose you go down a lot.
As a solo player your best chances at finding a decent team of randoms would be in Silver or Gold ranks because that’s where the matchmaking is likely going to match you with (and against ) other solid players trying to rank up or potentially compensate for someone else on your team (or the enemies) higher skill points.
I play TDM and went from Gold 3 to Silver 3 because of my teammates
my takeaway from this ranking system:
every single day we see new threads about Ranked and in those posts, without fail you will see the same statement: “I went MVP, I won, I went + K/D, I lost points”
the problem lies with how the information is shown to the player. Going MVP, winning(with a round loss), and inflated Elim stat is giving a false sense of accomplishment.
Elimination Rant Go:
the only way to actually know your K/D is if you went and manually count every kill through the match. nobody is doing that. you get an Elimination point for doing damage on an enemy that dies. doesn’t matter if you bodied with the Gnasher or hit one bullet with the Snub both get credit in that category.
example. 30 Elims and 15 Deaths , to the average user means they went 2.0 K/D. in practice though, it could mean the player got 10 actual kills, 20 assists and 15 deaths. it’s a problem and I hope they change it soon.
I doubt they will do anything about the ranking system!
probably not because it’s working as intended. the only changes they’re going to make is how the information is displayed to the player. it will show you what your doing wrong and how to improve,
well that kinda tells us what was happening. you were expected to carry and you didn’t perform as well as you should have.
Unfortunately, the only solution is to do more.
Just how messed up is the system? I breezed through silver and gold, getting up to 3000 points per win since I get MVP 95% of the time, I already got masters before the reset and figured I could do it again since they “fixed” the ranked system.
Well, I have won at least 30 matches since I am diamond and now I earn 10 points tops. I need around 200 points to get masters and there are games where I get 0 points for winning, MVP and all. How in the ■■■■ is this fair? Do I need to get every kill in the game without dying in TDM so I can go up? I like the game better now, but where is the fun in winning a ranked game without earning any points? Oh and god forbid I lose even as MVP, I get deducted triple the points I get from one win. I just want my damn lancer skin.
That sounds exactly how it was before they started tinkering with things when I hit Masters in September.
I started grinding ranked again a couple days ago and my experience is basically the same. Only difference I got is out of Silver very fast this time around .
Onyx 1
Onyx 3
Diamond 1
Diamond 3
Those were all the rank tiers that it took a decent amount of time to leave the first time around and it’s about the same now. I know when I was D3 sub 30% in the tier I teeter-tottered a lot until I went off 1 game and carried a 4v5 where my entire team went negative to a W.
I only gained 64 points from that win. The systems expectations for Diamond 3s , Masters is just very high since you’re likely being placed on a team with players with less skill points to compensate for your own. The higher rank you are the harder it gets for you to exceed what to system expects for you so you stand to gain less points for a win but it’s obviously a lot easier to lose those points.
I know how how it works, I saw the video of them explaining about the ranked system, but why should I grind for hours and hours because of a flawed system?
There’s a total skill point for each team, so even if I face players that are worse than me, the teams are somewhat balanced. I just hate the fact that they’re promoting ranked with a skin before actually making the system work properly, I reached masters once, if I have to reach masters every time a new skin comes out, that’s just ■■■■■■■■.
I don’t want to give you false hope or anything but I think Ryan mentioned they’d be giving the skin out based on highest ranked achieved during this season, I guess kinda like Gears 4 did it but I’m not sure.
My stat page still says my highest ranked is Masters so that’d be cool but I’d just hit it again anyway just to be safe.
I see, so your argument is basically against the system having an expected performance for you then. The only reason why we’re seeing smaller gains as you go up is because you’re probably playing with players that have much less skills points than the players you played with in previous tiers to compensate for your higher point value.
I guess that’s something they could fix by having higher fixed values for winning and losing but that might inflate the ranks a little.
That would be interessting to know if its based on the highest rank you achieved during the season. Can someone confirm that from TC?
WHAT IS THIS CAN I GET A TEAM THAT DOESN’T QUIT?!?!? AND AN OPPOSING TEAM THAT DOESN’T LANCE THE ENTIRE MATCH HOLY ■■■■
OH SWEET MOTHER OF GOD FINALLY MADE IT TO SILVER II
And I made it with passing games expection for kills meaning losses truly dont mean a loss in points always although it was hard in some cases as I got paired with players beyond me or at least understand the clunky movement making them hard to kill but hey Im getting better at this one I even went to GOW3 to see if its me being clunky (nope) anyway finally made it to silver II 39%.
I think its common for lancers to be used on KOTH since you must defend the point unless the enemy gets too close but I did experience a game of almost all gnasher KOTH with occasional lancer to defend or quickly spray from lack of ammo.
