Gears 5 is NOT F2P. Stop Treating it as Such

I grew up with NES and such and i somewhat disagree with the statements about games price. The thing is back then when we were kid we didn’t needed the game at release. You could get it very far and it was still as good. It was complete on the cartdridge. Also we could rent games on weekends and have tons of fun. Now if you rent a game for a weekend, you barely can do anything in it. Actually you gonna spend time installing it and patching it first… how fun lol.

As a kid i owned some cool games that i got on my birthday and christmas, and the rest we rented on the weekends. You could play a game for months and still have fun, games were simplier back then.

As an adult, in an internet world, its not the same.

I think the best era was the earlier years of the 360. Remember Gears 1? 2 free maps, then 4 maps for roughly 12$. Didn’t mind at all to pay that !

Now the problem is the ridiculous prices. I wouldn’t mind paying 15$ a pack of 4 maps every 3 months, if that was the ONLY thing i had to pay for. Or hell, gimme me emotes and banners etc for 1$ each… im cool with that !

But right now, its made in a way that you need to grind your butt super hard (wich as an adult with a life ain’t easy) or pay LUDACRIS ammounts of money. 7$ a flag really?

Characters should be 3$ at most, other cosmetic stuff 1$.

And as i said previously im worried for the tour of duty as its linked to an achievement too… so we HAVE to do it. But no way im wasting ludacris ammount of money on iron to refresh my objectives…

Personally I loved the credits system.

Just didn’t like the low amount of scrap worth for dupes.

I miss the credits man. I played a ton of Horde and left Gears 4 with 420k worth of credits. I never had a problem getting skins I wanted.

I’m ok with the way they did this, I could care less about a lancer with neon lights. No random loot boxes you can buy is a good thing. They are the biggest peeve of mine.

I understand game developers and publishers need to make money. We as the consumers don’t have to buy their over priced skins if we do not want to. And not buying them will do more for lowering the prices than getting mad about it.

As far as less content in game, I know it sucks but with inflation prices will either go up or content will go down. Since they are not raising the price on games (yet) it is only expected to see content going down. I don’t like it but I understand it. If you really don’t like it wait a few weeks, video games loose retail value fast. I’m sure by Black Friday the game will be 50%-75% off somewhere.

Xbox Game Pass is a thing… This game is very, very cheap.

Is there anything in the MTX that you have to purchase to play the game?

I will never understand these complaints tbh. Who is forcing you to buy silly skins? Just…don’t buy them if you think they are too expensive (they are).

At this point, I am surprised to say that Gears 4 system looked fair. For playing couple of hours of horde, I could get 1200+ gold which would give me 3 horde packs. Here in Gears 5, no matter what you do you are always few irons short of anything at all.

You - “Hi, I excuse ■■■■ being rubbed in my face because I can’t understand what someone is saying because we gotta think about the poor millionaires and billionaires making these games.”

You do realize…we got these unlocks in previous games before? You realize Xbox Game Pass in 4 months pays off a big triple AAA game under Microsoft right? You know a lot of people are looking favorably on the game pass system right? Skins and unlocks are PART of the system in enjoying the game right? You get unlocks for playing. You see your character, you show off your skin to everyone. Skins were explicitly marketed as the content as the reward for gameplay right?

You ok there guy? I’m guessing that melt down was due to the fact you couldn’t figure out how to debate the point any further so it looks like we’re done.

Ah yes, reply with “mad bro”, very debate like. You’re excusing the cutting up of content for a damn large videogame publishers who definitely aren’t struggling. Psst. Things do lose value over time. Also btw again you’re using 1 point to somehow prove that my point was false? I’m sorry but you just happened to ignore everything else that I said, instead you went “hurr durr they have larger staff sizes so obviously they should be given free pass to overmonetize”.

We got characters with vastly less grind and even had a larger selection in previous titles. Gears 4 has an in game currency system far more generous than Gears 5’s grind your heart out for this campaign skin. 1k headshot kills for 1/6 the challenges for 1 skin. Very generous.

Comments like yours is why AAA games are now running rampant with BS mtx’s and half baked releases. Stop defending multi million dollar companies. Unless your being paid to, just stop…

Me and others warned about this BS back when horse armor dropped and how it will spiral out of control. Decades later. Behold… now with have slot machines in sports games and mobile f2p schemes in full price games.

Stop defending these practices.

I know you and the other guy will have a hard time accepting this but explaining the logic of the situation does not equate to defending. I didn’t spend a dime on Gears 5 and probably won’t, because I don’t like how they monetized it. Believe it or not, you have power as a consumer. You are wrong in saying comments influence aaa titles. It’s MONEY that speaks. Just because I understand what they’re doing and why they’re doing it doesn’t mean I’m supporting it. Just think about that for a little bit before going into another tantrum.

Didn’t read past your first sentence because I already proved you wrong earlier and now all you want to do is fight but read the above.

Crazy I’m not even tripping on skins, don’t care how I look in gameplay. So crazy comparing what ppl complain on Twitter to TC about and what ppl complain on here is day and night. Forum’s are way more negative. Game is only a few days old what did people think? They were going to have some Hugh option and skins and characters? Prices come down on every game once they figure out what reasonable.

TC responded several times to complaints about purchases in Gears 4 and made things a little better. I’m sure they’re feeling it out again and will adjust if people aren’t buying.
Don’t get me wrong, I think the offerings in Gears 5 are really bad right now, from what I’ve seen. But, it’s a better start than, “Gamble w/ real $ and see if you happen to score something you want.”

Man bro I bought a flag for 700 iron didn’t care much about the iron. I pretty much chalked up the extra $20 to have early access. Campaign is cool only did one chapter so far. Been having alot of fun on Koth with wife and friends. Had a few epic Gnasher battle’s. Love breaking the ice to your advantage on ice bound. Escape is cool. Honestly besides connection issues on day one. I have No complaints. Could care less about my character looking Fancy lol.

Glad you’re liking it. I’m giving a little time before jumping in. Seeing what decisions TC is going to make about the issues at hand.

Might be my area, for Mp gameplay I can’t complain. High ping players are not effecting me, compared to 4, hit detection is off ,but not nearly as bad as Gears 4, all hate mail is in English so that’s a good thing lol. Nobody is sponging as of yet, we’ll see how servers hold up with all standard edition players launching. I felt ripped off with Gears 4 I don’t feel that way with 5.

You didn’t prove anyone wrong. You ignored all the points and went “hurr Durr they employ more people, obviously they need to cut away content for microtransactions” or put campaign skins behind 1K headshot kills.

Money speaks but people mostly read comments… please try again shill
