Gears 5 is hands down the worst of the franchise

You do know that Epic did most of the work on Judgment right?

And People Can Fly is owned by Epic

Was at the time, isn’t anymore (just FYI)

So sorry Mr Ghost…thank you for correcting me

Being on Gamepass from launch isnt a problem. The fact that it launched in the state it did is the problem.

Gears 5 completely threw skill out the fking window with all the knifing/ lancering/chainsaw lunge cheese and to top it off why give ppl kill assist to boost their stats. Like what happened to being rewarded for doing objective and actually earning your kills while bettering yourself at the unique movement system.

I haven’t got Marcus or Dom, prehaps because they were pre-order bonuses or something like that. They might be there, but sure can’t play as them. It would be like TC saying “Oh, we brought the Bolter back from Gears 2!” when it was in the store for $5.

The fact that you have to go out of your way to make sure the squad is in the game isnt very good. TC is even worse, yes, but neither system cover themselves in glory here.

I can’t find a match at all in Judgment in a vast majority of the modes, before we even bring VIP playlists into play.

Judgment had a great mode in Overrun, better stability, and arguably the best MP balance in the series.

But Overrun was prevented from reaching its potential by a lack of maps, and a lack of good maps, which hasn’t plagued Escape, through weekly/bi-weekly hives and the map editor.

And kills wasn’t as satisfying in MP compared to previous and current Gears titles.

Same here

It was the last two updates the broke the game i have the same issues with input and delays that make me roll out of and against cover sometime i jump cover when wanting to go around it somtimes i cant get off the wall just get stuck. If i shoot the boltok too fast it continues to shoot on its own somtimes my gun will not fire while struggling to get off cover.

It could be reasonable to say that it did create problems it being on game pass, as it seems to be in the free to play zone but still wanted to be a premium AAA title and still ask for full price, a bit of a strange marketing strategy.

One thing is for sure now though because this was done with Gears 5 people will most likely not purchase Gears 6 straight away.

Still being on gamepass isnt a problem, look at games like forza horizon 4 and sea of theives. These games are doing it right and launched day one on gamepass. The next Halo will launch day one on gamepass so we’ll see how MS handles this AAA titles launching on GP

People will be hesitant on Gears 6 not because of Gamepass but because the problems the game launched with, continue to have, and the problems that have been around for 2 games now

Of course the launch and the current state of gears 5 will always have the biggest impact on Gears 5 but my problem with it, is the game does model a F2P as that is how they want to pay for all the extra content but then charge full price for it and if you did purchase a skin on game pass then you do not really own said skin.

Its just a strange choice, it really does feel like it wants to be a F2P, full price MTX game lol.

Yeah I agree the launch has had the worst effect but I wonder if people will think because of gears 5 that game pass has some bad association linked with it now.

Gears 5 Ultimate being on Game pass was a huge slap in the face to the players that bought the full priced retail version. I would have been ok with base game on pass and buy the DLC. Gears 5 is a full priced game with a free to play economy. A shameless cash grab imo.

If you get gamepass for gears only it turns out to be a perpetual price instead of a one time deal. So it is still cheaper to purchase out right. I think the model it has in place would work far better of the core game worked right. I dont know about anyone else but I am fairly confident in saying more people would likely spend money on iron if 1) prices were reasonable and 2) the game didnt suck. Who is going to sit there, be aggravated by games where you fire dead on but some how miss and get blown away then be forced to fight the hardest opponent in the game (Latency) it seems like a RNG of success. Then turn around and say hey let’s drop $50 on iron!

I bought the one time iron deal at launch and I refuse to buy any more iron. I am using my remaining iron on boosts but once that iron is gone so is boost and then tour of duty is irrelevant to me because I am not grinding different modes to complete for a star or two.

The title is just horribly mismanaged whether that is TC’s fault or impossible deadlines by Microsoft the bottom line is bad management. Now the gears franchise will suffer and that is truely what I am sorry about. I earlier in the thread said I had some good games it was during the weekend and ping was in check, shots were connecting at a higher rate than I’ve seen before (still no where near perfect but manageable) last night I jumped on and it was good ol gears 5. People strolling through boom shots casually, 9% on a point blank shot, pings through the roof and shots not hitting anything. I dont think this game can be saved. The playerbase is too low and too scattered so you will not get games consistently and pings all over the place as a norm. The game is dying after 6 months. I dont think Rod leaving was voluntary and more of a professional courtesy. They know this bombed and now the blame game begins on a corporate level. It’s really a sad state of affairs.

Survival for me was Horde on Gears of War Judgement. But i got to admit one thing, as much as i liked Survival the implementation of the Classes, or whatever they were called was done badly, some of the skills used were just silly. Baird had a pop up sentry, that to me seemed daft, Paduk had the grenade thing that showed the enemies, i never knew what to thing of that, Cole and Sophia had the only viable skills worthy of comment, and they both should have made it in to Horde for Gears of War 4 and Gears 5, but only Horde.
Overrun was brilliant, it is the only PvP i have ever liked on any Gears game, and the one thing that ruined PvP was the Stim Grenade, it unbalanced the game terribly. Gears PvP are faced based combat games, the Stim lengthened them and thus ruined PvP. And, considering most people do actually play PvP it is no wonder the game died.
I do honestly think Stim would work in Horde, maybe we will get to see it in the future, but more than likely we will not, The Coalition would be too lazy to make it so the Stim only works in Horde.
My personal opinion, of course.

They did remove it from PvP very soon after launch. Sophia still had her stim nades on Overrun and Survival but that was alright.

edit. Two-piecing killed those gnasher duels of Judgment. I remember before engaging an opponent, some players used to melee into air signaling let’s have a proper gnasher duel without two-piecing

Gnasher was actually allright without the op melee + shoot.

What I think is funny are the people saying wait a year it will get better. Gears 4 although much better than Gears 5 state as of right now, was still broken at the end of its life.

Judgement(s) campaign, overrun, survivorwas cool, didn’t like blue vs red,but this gears 5 campaign I’m yet to play it,due to bugs, once solved I’ll play it,but gears 5 horde is cool/escape(only play this when there is team player(s))stayed clear of PVP,since the Xmas event, due to the ping/not hitting any enemy,I’m on the fence for Gears 5,Not trying to disrespect anyone by saying this

Are you sure… I played Judgement PvP about a year and a half ago, bear in mind it was against the A.I. and the Stim was still there. Unless it was taken from PvP ranked and/or Socia

That’s what they want you to think. Compare the credits. Same names just less OGs and New Faces

Yes I’m sure. They took it away from versus. Private matches still had them.
