Gears 5 Is A Disgrace To The Franchise!

Unlike Gears 2, I was actually able to shoot straight at launch.

All the entries have had pros and cons. Some were superior to others. Remember, it took nearly a year for Gears 2 to become playable. With like 6 major title updates.

I won’t even bother talking 3 and 4, because I never mentioned those to begin with.

Does 5 have problems? Definitely. It’ll eventually be fixed, just like the others, and when 6 comes out we’ll repeat this process with people pining for the days of 5.

And whoever came up with escape is just weak. Its a bad game mode too similar to horde but worse in every way and flatout boring with new unknown dumb characters.
[/quote]I agree Gears 4 Horde is boring but making the claim Escape is like Horde is painful to read and in general just such a bad take.

As far as violent gritty games go…and why I included “Scifi shooters”. Of course it’s fake. But going from what it was to the Swarm characters doing frickin emotes…c’mon now

Is escape not a speed run, tactical survival mode, where you outrun the venom, but also try to fight off swarm? Albeit given a smaller loadout? Less ammo etc.

That to me has survival elements like horde in it, some horde enemies, and a ton of players I have talked about having to camp for ammo, play strategically for ammo and complain about the fact that they don’t give you enough to survive get out a live.

To me there are elements there similar to horde, albeit a speedrun style gameplay that is different in its own way.

You can’t tell me this is better than gears 3 beast mode. It’s an overhyped trash mode with a group of unknown characters no one cares for, but TC decides to shove microtransactions cosmetics down our throats.

Delivery driver mac…yea man! Escape mode! Sht is weak.

Gears 2 was very much playable at launch, in an era where title updates were very scarce as opposed to now a days. What you see is what you got back then. Same goes for many other franchises.

Every game has its problems for sure, but having to wait over 4 hours on U.S. servers at launch when you invested extra money to play the game early is absurd. Then getting into all the absolutely broken mechanics going down the same path as GOW4 with the broken weapon tuning, horrible store and microtransactions, as well as 2 survival style modes that the general consensus don’t really care for.

This games ratings a lone are in the toilet, and you wonder why. After a while you get bored, the new fresh content is lackluster and a ton of people are bored silly of horde and escape mode, especially escape mode which idk ■■■ you can be a die hard fan of the franchise snd get hyped up for something as wack as escape mode. SMH I remember watching E3 footage of it like " who are these characters", this mode looks like a speed variation of horde with less weapons/hear/ammo, and at the end of the day it’s not better than Beastmode so who really cares.

TC tried to get fresh and failed. Even those who like the mode admit, it gets boring very quick. But you know regardless of anything it will be featured throughout the next year or 2 so like it or hate it, it’s here to stay.

When Gears 2 first launched the shots from your shotgun hit the floor at your feet.

I remember them coming out with a few title updates for that game. But I never really noticed it tbh, that was a time when I got the game a little later in its cycle so maybe I missed it.

I remember having a blast on MP, and the new exclusive horde mode though, I loved everything about that game.

Gears 3 was my favorite though, Mp was amazing, horde was the best ever, great story. Microtransactions were fair and straight up.

Can’t say that about gow5

So, why did you say it was, “very much playable” at launch? There weren’t tip toe updates…there were massive ones. The game was a mess. Then stopping power was introduced, completely broke the flow of playing it. Then they added a concussion effect to the smoke grenades that made poor Kantus’ arms go freaking crazy every time he flipped down a set of steps.

3 was good. My main point with 2 is that the game was absolutely broken. Insanely broken. But they patched it up over a good amount of big title updates and eventually, it laid the groundwork for the direction the series went afterwards. Same will eventually happen here.

I didn’t notice it. Wasn’t much of a mp player on 2, so maybe I missed it. Those were the split screen days I didn’t care to read patchnotes, nor even expected games to make significant changes ie. What you see is what you get. That’s how I played and typically grinded story for completion/collectables, and played horde mostly. When I played I never noticed, and was still getting good at the time but had no problem getting kills and leading my team. I also played like a noob too as a young man who enjoyed using the chainsaw and power weapons before really learning how to gnasher.

Played more MP on 1 and 3,most competitive on 3, and 4where I learned to gansher/wallbounce etc.

Of course games are broken. But this is a decade and millions of dollars later. How much time and money do they need to get their acts together. Launch night they had players waiting hours to even connect, something a lot of launch titles struggle with but still.

As someone who is an above average competitive gamer on games like Gears, Halo, COD, PUBG, Counter strike etc. I can say that broken games and constant tuning updates are inevitable, but it would be so nice for these developers to launch with more consistent weapon tuning and servers for once.

And for a game like Gears5 to roast itself on the map district with the “83%” jive, only to have an even worse and more inconsistent gansher tuning at 90-99% hits that is driving a lot of competitive players and pros insane…again hopefully gears 6 gets it better, maybe they will improve Gears5 but that along with the unrealistic emotes, terrible filler content/store items/cosmetics, and co-op modes that have been far better over the years. It’s evident why this franchise is slowly losing loyal followers.
Gears 4 went through a bunch of tuning updates, so patience is warranted, but still this game is a mess and is losing a lot of loyal followers.

The story will always be fun but everything else is a mess in its current state. Some still love it and don’t really care, but as a longtime fan it’s hard not to lose faith in this franchise right now.
Something about 5 just feels off, the emotes, the store, tour of duty system, and some of the same rank, weapon tuning flaws that haunted previous titles.

Lol great meme XD That’s honestly what it feels like…and they’re even making it harder for criticism on the sub reddit…

I agree there are gripes every release but this time is different. Hell it got me into the forms which ive never done fince day one release. All of the old guard vets are comming out of the woodwork on this release and that’s saying something.

Old changes were clearly a strive for improving gameplay. This time around its restrictive. The fundamentals have been changed and not in a good way that kept what made previous installments enjoyable.

Nobody wanted to see all weapons becomming OP. This closed a skill GAP and created a kill CAP if that makes sense. This makes the game boring with no need to strive to get better. The desire to be the best and competative will die along with the player base.

I get why a lot of the OG players are complaining. I was just saying that the Gears series gets hated on by the community every time a new the new one comes out. Watch when Gears 6 comes out the hate it gets and how people are gonna say Gears 5 was a great game

Your right. I have no doubt that will happen.

As i mentioned in a post a while back. Gears players are some of the most passionate, competitive, and unforgiving players out there. And I don’t think TC realizes how lucky they are to have that kind of player base.

If this games release is causing such an uproar over past installments, its a clear indication they messed up. Question is will they learn from it or continue to push their own agenda on an unforgiving community?

I doubt people will say that. And when gears 4 came out, no one said gears judgment was a great game. This is the worst Gears game after judgment. It’s still broken a month and a half after release.

The backlash is justified.

The problem with Gears is that theres not enough OG players to make the franchise a ton of money like other titles. TC tried to do something to bring more players in and failed. Also it seems Microsoft wanted a first party game out to compete with other games that released or are releasing soon and also to push gamepass. Gears 5 clearly needed more time in the oven.

@lPoZo No Gears game will ever come close to Judgment. Judgment took a lot away from the Gears formula. Also Im not saying the backlash isnt deserved. All Im saying is that its like a cycle. When Gears 4 released the forums were on fire saying its a sh*t game, its not Gears and so on. Now people are saying it was such a great game ect ect.

I personally thought 4 was bad as well. When I hear people say 4 was great, it’s in comparison to gears 5. By itself, gears 4 was also kind of bad compared to the trilogy. I played it the first two months and it just wasn’t for me. Uninstalled and never looked back.

But I do get your point though.

Escape isn’t just a speedrun tbh. Besides the surge really. But even that one isn’t, people just make it one.

Im gonna go ahead and say that 4 was one hot mess at release, and people seem to have forgotten that. 4 is horrible in comparison with all others. I actually fancy 5 more than 4 because the lootboxes system is the worst system that can ever be implemented in a game.

Even 2, which is one of the favorites, had a crappy launch

Not sure which country you are playing gears 5 from, but using the word disgrace is an understatement to describe the state of affairs this game is in. It is an absolute joke that people can pay 120 AUD for a game that does not work. The game has been released a short time ago and you effectively can’t play it, in a country like Australia, with 25 million people and nearby countries of several million as well, because the product is badly tested and buggy and they don’t understand the market despite having years worth of data to make better decisions with. It smacks of nepotism, why the hell is the match making not perfect for release? Anything less means the product is poorly conceived and not ready for consumers?
There should be a financial penalty and regulation to hold these guys accountable, because they are getting away with behaviour that companies in better regulated industries are penalised for.
Generalising the behaviour of the player base as ‘toxic’ an excuse is laughable, is there is no end to arrogance?
People lose their jobs for les than these clown get away with.
