Get help guy. I never implied any of the things you said but you seem to be on some kind of bizarre crusade.
White knighting a corporate franchise?? Lol
I think you had that in the chamber and just jumped on the first chance to use it. Talk about embarrassingā¦
All yāall got dat L.J.S in youses.
(Last Jedi Syndrome)
Original, and Borderlands 3 are 2 COMPLETELY different things. And it seems like youre the one lashing out.
I always find it funny when someone says something wrong but tries to walk it back with the olā Trump āI really meant X, and Xā line. Lol.
Itās gettin political.
Anyone else want some Popcorn?
Game is a month old. You have no idea whether or not they are considering the feedback from places like this. They certainly donāt actively participate in conversations here (why would they? have you seen this place?), but I donāt doubt at all that Octus probably mines threads for meaningful, constructive feedback to pass on to the rest of the team in their meetings. In fact, itās almost certainly part of his job.
Thereās also a difference between listening to feedback, and just being led around by the nose based entirely on what the community says it wants. Part of good game design is occasionally implementing new things that players didnāt even realize they wanted until they had them. This is why they said they would take some time post-release, to see how some of their changes were received, and to see how it affected the meta.
All of the above is completely irrespective of what you or I think about the current state of the game. The Coalition gain nothing from just ignoring what their own customers want.
Or when people are so quick to question others - when they are only arguing for the sake of arguing I might add - , but throw a hissy fit when they themselves are questioned.
Childish.
And amusing!
Ugh not here⦠Pretty much the only place left that I visit that doesnāt go there and I hope we can keep it that wayā¦
Regardless of sales or whatever, this game is in a free fall. The fact that weāre a month and a half after launch and the game is already outside the top 20 most played despite a ridiculously heavy Game Pass marketing push is nothing short of a failure. Meanwhile, TC is just sitting on their hands.
lmao gears isnāt an appealing title to most gamers you guys act like every other game held a top ten spot for 6months after release itās never been the case.
Anybody else feel like that entire weapon tuning campaign they had for Gears 4 for the āfuture of Gearsā was just thrown out the window?
Or letās stop making excuses? This game was heavily marketed toward game pass and launched on PC simultaneously. This game debuted as the most played game on xbox live. Yet a month and a half later people have left in droves and weāre going to use the excuse of ābut itās Gears so itās to be expected.ā Nah, this game is failing and even the veterans are walking away from it at this point. The sooner we hold TC accountable the sooner things can get back on track.
Gears 4 had the issue were you would get random damage on the same shot. And that was mostly it.
Sure, late it had some issues with people having high ping eating shots and other junk. Would see people whose ping would be normal and then jump to the hundreds, high hundreds sometimes, just in combat and never die. But that was more due to the low player count. Would run into a lot of the same people fairly often.
But overall, Gears 4 worked well. Was a very solid base with just some mp coding needing fixed up some.
So what do they do with 5. Well, of the 100 or so people I know that have played they all got the random damage stuff. But the game would also count shots that you could visibly see miss. I shot and the full pellet spread hit the wall beside the player and they died anyway. They just tried to cover that coding issue instead of working it. If that is not it I just cannot understand it then. Just from a software developer standpoint because it reeks of coding reuse. Which is fine as long as the code is good. Though it could be something embedded deep enough that they would have had to rework much more and they just went the route of trying to cover the issue.
Gear 5 though, is losing players not because it does not have cosmetics like skins and stuff. Or even modes. There is enough modes and skins are not as important as one would think. The thing that kills it for those that I know and those that I have seen around is often they got bored and the gameplay is not that good. See, the fun needs to be there. If a game is fun players will play.
As for this game I think they went to route of removing cosmetics simply to give people things to play for. And things for people to buy. No way they are completely dropping those assets and redoing them all. They will be in. Just either cosmetics you can earn or special stuff you have to buy.
I will say that I am disappointed. I just see what looks like they reused code (common thing in software development and nothing wrong with this by itself) without fixing things. Just trying to cover and patch.
What they needed to do is look to the past. See what worked so well. Improve on that is meaningful way. Hell, fixing issues from 1-3 and using that gameplay would have worked. Because Gears is about gnasher up close and some lancer play to try and keep them back.
GoW 1-3 were all within top 10 for their year of release.
Out of curiosity, top 10 in what?
Major Nelson used to publish the Xbox Live top 10 every week or month on his blog.
Ah ok so weāre talking most played game on Xbox for each of the years if I understand correctly? Or sold games on the Xbox for each of those years?
That list just showed Xbox Live activity, not sales or anything.
At least, I assume thatās what the other guy was talking about
Ah gotcha, than in that case, he would be correct.
I was responding to a remark that Gears could ānever compete with the top 10ā. They were all top 10 in terms of sales, and the original was top 3 most played.
For the sake of this thread āmost playedā seems more important so Iād like to see where 2, 3 and 4 rank.
Or we could use our brain instead and put our big boy pants. A game being heavily marketed doesnāt guarantee sales lol. If anything it just proves my point more that gears was heavily marketed and still canāt maintain interest. Saying it debuted on pc also doesnāt mean much considering the vast majority of the players are on Xbox maybe 100k additional sales were pc and thatās being generous.
Most people who arenāt fans of a franchise donāt stick around for more than a month. Even if all the āveteransā were please and they put in every change you cry babies wanted the game still would not be in the top ten itād be 15 at best lol. Again this is a niche franchise and community. Are you done now?
