No I like the size, i think it leaves the right amount of clear view where a player would predominantly be looking

This is my feedback to make the direction of the damage more evident, the second image you can see a noticeable sign of damage with a little change

can we get a look at a the Opacity Slider version? (at 0%)

For me its the way you must go to get better omen. As far as I’m concerned it will be better to do a bit smaller omen, about 80% size of current so you can put more red notification around with the direction from where you have been hit. But thats only my my opinion.

Great work Ryan and team. I know the community can be hard at times but we all truly know you guys are working your butts off. This is a huge improvement and would love to see it asap. Makes it much easier to stand a chance in a 2 on 1 situation as you can actually see now. Great work keep it up.

I strongly suspect that to keep the amount of work needed manageable, the core dynamics of the revised omen have to stay true ti the current one. That means no change in size or shape…

I agree that showing the difference between 50 and 90% might be tricky, but personally I would happily tradeoff THAT data for not being blinded in a gnasher fight :wink:

Remember, this will be an OPTION for people like me, who hate getting blinded… For those who don’t consider the current omen an issue and/or prefer it, you will be able to keep using it…

Please let them create something and deploy it, and not get them bogged down in fine tuning of damage extent showing…

This looks so much better. The omen itself could be a bit smaller, but this is a big step in the right direction. It gives visibility and transparency without blocking player senses.
Please keep us posted on progress.

It won’t make it in time for the next TU, but it may be in the one after, but I can’t promise anything yet.

The fact you acknowledge we mostly hate it and are open to change is good enough man, inviting us to discuss said change is above and beyond, i think I speak for all of us when i say, no rush, making sure it works right is a higher priority than rushing it out :+1:

Literally the best news I’ve heard from this game in a hot minute. It just seems like there’s something new that’s wrong or bugging out with this game every week. This maybe a long shot, but why not take it a step further and have the original omen as a choice along with the aforementioned “simple omen.” Regardless, I personally approve.

I think they mentioned that’s not really possible because of the different systems it’s tied to (stim, Cryo), so that’s why they’re trying out this simple omen instead.

Looks great but personally the current one doesn’t really bother me, so I am glad it is an option you can toggle just in case not everyone likes the new one. Thanks

I agree 100% with @Omen_LP

What with all of the additional info that this instalment of gears has to give to the player in a matter of split seconds, I think that TC have done an amazing job at doing that with the current omen as appose to previous instalments. Although the bright red death screen is a change and some people don’t like change, It is a step in the right direction.
Just imagine if Epic Games had done a similar thing with Gears of war 3 regarding the scorcher…

As far as I can tell this prototype has all of the information that is needed during a fight being displayed on screen while not sacrificing as much of the players vision as the current omen does.

Ask yourself this:
Does it show direction of fire? Yes. As shown by the “spikes” around the edge of the omen
Does it show the difference in damage being taken? Yes. As shown by the “shading/glow” around the edge of the omen
Can I see my surroundings while I am taking damage? Yes. The detail in Kait’s armour can still be seen even at 90% damage. The only real place in that picture that can’t be seen, is the sniper nest/high balcony in the top right, but that is across the map and in the same direction as the direction of damage being taken.

Maybe if people are asking for a smaller omen or better indicator of how much damage they have taken and how much more they can take, just change the way the omen changes.
By this I mean, instead of the omen working it’s way towards the outer edge of the screen the more damage taken, have a reverse effect and have it work its way towards the center of the screen. So that the outline of the gear shape at the center of the omen only shows when above 75-80% damage.
Really hope I’ve explained that in a way people will be able to visualise.
