Full Chronological Order To Read/Play The Series

First off, major credit to @Joveus and @TTV_Viytalic for their work on compiling the correct order all the books and games take place in. As such, much of this list is taken verbatim from their posts.

(Source: @Joveus Gears of War Timeline (Playing and reading order guide for games, books and comics))

Again, huge thank you for providing that list. However, it is fairly outdated now, hence why I am creating this thread.

If I got anything wrong, please bring it up so I can edit it. Unfortunately, the writers don’t provide specific dates for this new saga, so getting an exact timeline is difficult, but I did my best, based on the events in the book/game, and what events it references. Now, with that preface out of the way, here’s the list. Hopefully it comes in handy for one or two of you.

Is that canon? The Lancer Mark 2 snafu would have me believe otherwise. Only issue I would raise is the retcons in the lore between releases that cause confusion, and highlight discrepancies such as this. It’s the same issue with StarWars and the Machete order. And why chronological isn’t always a positive or a negative…and sometimes both. Prequels always have an issue. It’s why I generally don’t like the concept of a prequel to begin with. Even an Expanded universe. Look at the Ragers from Judgment. Why Epic thought it was ok to introduce a new enemy in a prequel and explain OUTSIDE the game why they weren’t around later. (Show don’t tell gets eviscerated by TC and Epic)

You make a good point. Judgment, as well as Kilo Squad: The Survivors Log, do contradict the established canon. However, Gears 4 and 5 also do so, such as the Aspho Fields segment and the fact that Sera now has two moons. Unfortunately, it’s just something we have to deal with at this point. TC has always stated that fun is more important than canon. Plus, Gears 5 references events of Judgment. So while I don’t think Judgment should be canon, it essentially is at this point.

Why do you have the same chapters for Anvil listed twice?

Shame I didn’t see this when it was first written up.

We should update it to include where Ephyra Rising fits in.

i wish there was a map of Sera that we could get our hands on

Well with epic they never wanted to close off their imagination so they never made a map of the world so we know where what is at.

Who knows if TC is gonna do away with that idea and give us a map of Sera.
